PSA: You DO NOT need to scale your business to this level as a Creator. I ENJOY running a business and growing it😁 You can make $3,000/mo and it can be just enough to make you happy. This video is simply me sharing how my business operates. You can operate your business as a creator differently, and that's okay 🧡🧡

Yes, exactly! It seems like no one--no one!-mentions how much they get to KEEP from any business in any field. Having worked in businesses that *seem* to have money flowing in visibly, what something looks like from the outside can be quite different after looking at the books. I know not to assume any kind of success/failure from appearance or raw numbers alone; those things say little. So thank you, Millie.

💵thank you so much for demystifying this thought process and showing a bit behind the scenes. A limiting belief/fear I’m working through as I start my journey is “I don’t know what happens if the business becomes successful, I don’t have the tools” and this was immensely helpful

I can only imagine how hard you are working. I come from the film industry and totally get what it takes to produce content. At least you have a team available as well. Keep up the great work. And again a big thank you!

Yes, a team. Finished products (content) frequently look so seamless and professional because of a great deal of help. So solo business folks who get down on themselves because it may take longer or they just don't have the help (yet) making content as high-end can adjust their expectations.

Hi Millie! Thanks for the in-depth video. Would you mind sharing in the comments or another video how you go about paying for health insurance and retirement? Is that distributed somewhere in expenses?
@MillieAdrian2 ай бұрын
Hi!! This is a great question! It all depends on where you live and what’s available to you. In the US lots of creators use the Healthcare Marketplace, but you can also research and shop plans directly from Insurance companies.

Honestly taxes have been such a scare for me but it’s also all about mindset. When you live paycheck to paycheck with a practical 9-5 and tax refunds are your savior to then think about all the taxes paying forward for a business you’re wanting to bring back to get out of the 9-5 game some day is so scary but you’re overlooking the bigger picture of how much you have left to invest and how much more life you have left over. 😅 please make a video about money mindset if you have not already.
@MillieAdrian2 ай бұрын
I love the idea of a money mindset video!! I’ll keep this in mind for sure! Taxes can be daunting, but once start doing them, it gets easier every time. You can also set aside MORE for taxes, just in case, and then anything not paid towards taxes is like your “refund.”

Thank you for granting us Exceptional insights! 💵💵Question: On the page listing 5 accounts, you have a separate account (OWN) in which 20% goes to owner’s pay. Later when you utilize the pie chart to break down the OPEX account, you show $20k in payroll with a portion paid to you. Is this payroll income different from the funds set aside in the OWN account?
@MillieAdrian2 ай бұрын
Yes, 20% of income goes to the OWN account. The pie chart explains all Expenses Paid (not just the OPEX account payments). Like payroll is an expense, but right now it gets taken out of the OWN account because 2/3 of the employees are owners so we just have all of Payroll come out of that account. We will likely switch it in the future so that JUST me and my husband get paid from OWN and our other employee gets paid from OPEX, but we just haven't changed that yet. Did that answer your question? 🤔

I WANT TO TRY TO GET MY THOUGHTS TOGETHER BEFORE THE CHANNEL AND I HAVE THIS DISCUSSION.
@andreamorgan89352 ай бұрын
Wait if you pay yourself from payroll which is apart of the expense account…..what happens to the money in the own comp account ? Do you pay yourself out of that account as well?
@MillieAdrian2 ай бұрын
So the pie chart that breaks down Expenses Paid is just breaking down Expenses. It is not breaking down the OPEX account payments. MOST expenses come out of OPEX but not all. What is the difference between profit and paying yourself? I mean don't you pay yourself with profits?
@MillieAdrian2 ай бұрын
Profit doesn't have to be used paid to yourself! I mean, you absolutely can but there's other ways to use the Profit account. Like we'll typically use any money in there at the end of the year to reinvest back into the business (upgrade gear, run ads, etc.) or invest in our retirement.
