One final tidbit about my stolen car, selling used books at Half Price Books, recent eBay & Discogs sales, and a breakdown of my sales and expense numbers for DVDs so far this year.

I don't try to make any recommendations that can have legal ramifications. I basically just say do it right and legal-like! As for Pirate Ship, I use them and am a big fan. They are excellent.

What's been your experience with Discogs? How does it compare to Amazon or Ebay?

I sell quite a bit on Discogs and I am a big fan. I don't sell on Amazon so I can't compare, but in many ways it's better than eBay as there are no listing fees and you don't have to take photos. Once you are set up as a seller, listing is a breeze.

I'm having trouble selling dvds for more than $6 I don't see how people make more than $1.50 profit even if your cost is 50 cents am I missing something??

There are a number of factors that can come into play. The main thing is that you're selling DVDs that people are looking for. Most DVDs aren't worth much of anything these days, so it's the diamonds in the rough that I look for. I'm also big on taking at least 4 photos of each DVD I sell: front, back, inside, and bottom of disc(s). I'll also take another that focuses in on any specific damage or issue with the cover. I do this rather than using the stock photo that eBay will provide.

I just started so I'm selling things from around the house to get my store up and running but now I see I need to focus in on a niche to get to the next level and most dvds are very low margins. How many DVDs did you have listed? What was the sell through rate on them?

I don't have exact numbers, but I had only started listing DVDs for sale around March of 2021 and made this video in the end of May, 2021. So I cover about 3 months of selling DVDs here. At the time, I know my overall number of items available in my eBay store was around 200, but that includes every other kind of thing I sell. I would rough estimate a 50% sell through of the DVDs I listed in that time period.

You are so far off on the price that you made on those DVDs for profit it is unreal. Why don't you try putting in there the price that you paid for all of them. If you only paid to be fair we'll say an average of $1 that's is another $126 off your profit. And unless you're going to try to screw over the IRS which is not a good idea you still have to pay for earned income. You also didn't put in there the price for postage I don't think. It's right around $2 a DVD. That would be minus another $250 bucks. That takes you closer to $5 a DVD. And your title for this video said it was for how to sell DVDs on eBay. And for your 20 minute video I think you talked about DVDs for maybe three or four minutes. Which is extremely clickbait. So out of all the DVDs how to sell on eBay videos I have watched today which is about eight or nine your sir is the worst. I'm not trying to be rude I'm just trying to explain to you that if you're going to give out information you should give out correct information. Good luck hope your channel grows for you

I did mention the price I paid for postage, which at the time I made this video was still just under $3 for media mail. I actually do a fair amount more with DVDs than just the few minutes I talk price breakdowns, what with them being in the what sold portion too, but why split hairs here? You didn't like the video. Sorry. Thanks for letting me know, I guess? Most of my videos feature a topic and also continuing information about my life and my experiences in buying and selling. If you are looking for videos that stay on a single topic and give specific information on how to do something, I'm not usually that guy. But look, the title of my video was "How Much Money Do I Really Make Selling DVDs on EBAY?"and not anything about HOW to sell DVDs on eBay. Maybe that was one of the other videos you watched? And the information I gave out was indeed correct. You don't know what I paid for the DVDs I was selling at that point. Assuming $1 per is just your assumption. The Goodwills around here sell their DVDs for $2.99 each and the vendors at the closest antique mall to my house often sell theirs for $2-$5 or more. Much of what I was selling in the early days when this video was made came from those places. Anyway, of you want to check out more of my videos in the future and chime in, I'm down. It doesn't hurt to have an adversarial voice keep me on my toes from time to time.
