“Simplicity beats complexity when it comes to consistency” - Mario Tomic

Ay man, I feel a lot better about my fitness journey after watching this video. Yeah... I do like the feeling of improvement, but also, I think accepting myself the way I am and letting things be, is also really healthy. I've been in a lull lately going the gym, because I have been focused on other things, and your video made me realize that's healthy too.

Great video! It is very true how we lose sight of what's in front of us, constantly trying to look forward to what's next while missing the present.

my experience with overoptimizing was often that I was loosing the grip on why I was doing something in the first place. through trial and error I learned that there are some things I like to have strictly optimized and some that I enjoy the most when they are messy, human, uncertain and take a lot of time instead. this division is something I try to cultivate daily and it brings me peace

This video came just in time for me... Obsessed with optimization is an understatement for me, if I have any feeling I am doing something suboptimal I go crazy about it, but seeing this really helps with that. Thank you again Wanhee.

Really cool presentation. Easy to understand, and encouraging to try by myself. And, btw, I really like those little, nicely designed comic figurines and clips for your „points“!

Yeah but if I’m trying to find a maximum likelihood estimator for a parameter of interest I kinda have to optimize to get a good estimator you know?

Yup - I destroyed an amazing relationship for the grind. Now I am lost, left only with material things. I hate grind/hustle culture - those are literally the same as the "rat race". The only difference is that it's usually not corporate-related
