The word "woman" in that passage, specifically means "wife" if you look up it's proper translation. To look at another mans "wife" with lust, is comitting adultery in his heart. Adultery through the entire Bible, requires a woman to be married or bethrothed. It's never a single woman.

8:22 for any guy out there who struggles with the urge to watch porn, this is a solid piece of advice. You don't necessarily have to read Aquinas, but find _something_ to distract yourself. Do you like video games? Go play one. Especially something with the "just one more turn" effect, like Civilization V. Play that and I guarantee you will completely forget about porn. Deacon speaks the truth. I knew of this truth as a young girl but it seemed no one else did, especially the males in my life whom I identified with. As I grew into a young woman I was stripped of human dignity by these same males and others around me that treated and thought of me as sub human. Deacon is one of very few men I have ever heard utter the truth of how women are to be loved in the way that God intended us all to be loved. Why is it so hard for men to love us woman the way that they want to be loved and respected themselves? It is an epidemic and a way of life us women have to experience that no human being should ever have too...the death of ones self worth.
@belottov2 жыл бұрын
You're trying to hard to come off as a victim. There isn't a grand conspiracy by men to dehumanizine you. Men are victims of their lust and society as a whole suffers because of it. But men are also seen as disposable and any showing of weakness is gravely punished, no matter how "accepting" people say they are. Men (and I assume women too) are under much stress and even despair in looking for the person that will be their partner, so of course modernity finds a way to help "alleviate" this tension with poison. Porn, social media, money, status, cosmetic surgery, hormonal therapy. People will ruin themselves to alleviate the pain of loneliness, and the more of these anesthetics you seek, the more numb you feel. I myself have problems with women, I might even fit into that category of men you were talking about. But condemning men like me isn't going to solve anything for you, you'll just end up bitter and alone. Try and help those men, because they are surely hurting. I'd probably mean the world to them to have their problem acknowledged.

I was Presbyterian from 1967 to 2019. I had a porn addiction off and on since about 1974 or so. I tried several times to stop. Then in 2019, I had my meeting with God literally. That's the best way to describe it. I spent 2 months trying to discern what He was trying to tell me. He was leading me to Catholicism. Within 1 week after accepting His Church, I had no desire at all to watch porn. I wanted to learn as much about Jesus as I could. I spent hours of reading theology books, watching KZbin videos about the Catholic Church, and attending RCIA. I've been confirmed since 2020 and I haven't touched porn since 2019. I attend daily mass and try to go to adoration weekly. When I went to my first confession, Father asked if I needed help with the porn. I told him the Catholic Church cured me. What an eloquent and beautiful explanation of the dignity of spouses as intended by Our Lord! This is NOT taught ANYWHERE that i can remember in my entire Catholic life of 55 years! There is much confusion even now or moreso now in our “modern” society about how the wife is subordinate to her husband. Many husbands think it implies that she is to be used and stepped on for pleasure or whatever. And many women do not know their dignity in the eyes of God and so do not know how to relate to their husband as the head, protector and provider of the household. In too many cases either they live in fear or try to compete with their husband because they don’t want to be subordinate. This is an imbalance which causes confusion and unnecessary turmoil in families. I know because it is present in mine but I’ve recently been taught by the Grace of God who gave me my dearest friend who I met 7 years ago. He taught me basically what this good Deacon explained . Our Lord created everything in a beautiful order and with purpose for His Greater Glory! We need more homilists like this Deacon! May God reward you!

@@DelioJez Not everyone who is a non believer is the same. In my relationship with my spouse it really doesn’t become an issue unless it involves the children, then you may find that you are the only one encouraging them on Sundays to go to Church, reading the Bible, and learning about our Lord. This obviously can be frustrating, well because I wouldn’t be the person my wife chose to marry if it was not for Jesus, who saved and changed my life. Well that is fine, I take Sunday’s off and try and make time during the week to read the Bible with them. I sometimes almost lose it on Sundays when my children tell me that they are not going to Church unless their mother goes, then you can only image how those mornings turn out. Coming back to my original point, express these issues with your potential spouse now and see what he/she says. Secondly and most importantly pray on it, I do believe the Lord will sometimes choose for us a non believer to marry, maybe it’s to further refine us as Christians or maybe they have found favor in the eyes of our Lord.

Contraception obstructs the beauty of life. Abortion destroys it. Prayer is most needed and necessary.
@diplomaticexorcist61302 жыл бұрын
@S i R k A Well, what is prayer? The Catholic definition is the raising of the mind, heart, and will to God. How is prayer useless? It is useless alone. And, as you put it, a dead end addiction of the mind. Like an illusion or a mirage. I have been through grave dissappinmemts in my prayerlife. My Grandma passing away, though I greatly petitioned for her to live. But that doesn't stop there. My prayers asking God to stop all abortion and trafficking, especially where children are involved. My prayerlife hurts and agonizes. What God just stands there, let's this happen, and talks about Ten Commandments? Pointless to follow Him. Pointless to pray to Him. But prayer has a dimension which cannot be truly measured. First, my anger at my family putting my Grandma under hospice with morphine, and second, anger at my Aunt for it. Was it my Grandma's legal Will? Yep. It was. Then what sorta God stands there? When in my Grandma's suffering she changes her mind? Is God just going along with it for whatever reason? My anger raises against God. The grievous wound left in my heart upon my Grandma's death. What happened? My heart fell from my Grandma's own love, whilst she was alive. Worse, I was giving to the very evil I accused my family by a deep seated hatred. In the Church, I go before Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, and have myself oriented by the reason, intellect, and will of the Church. If that is Christ's literal body and blood, soul and divinity which covered my Grandma upon her death, then that means she, though her body lays dead underneath the ground, is held in the Holy Eucharist. If this is true and so. What I do is visit my Grandma's graveside with Holy Water. And I pour it on her gravestone. Even pouring Holy Water on gravestones of Freemasons, and praying for them. Oddly, a.week after, my Dad's friend who is a Freemason, offers a donation to the Shrinee's children's hospital in my Grandma's name. Prayer has an inner working of mystery, so-to-speak. Hope and Mercy.

@josephfisher4262 жыл бұрын
@@AntonAchondoa They do have very different weights, but teaching is always going to be mindful of the possibility of justifying the substitution of a lesser evil for a greater one. If someone who cannot avoid an "evil" recognizes and chooses the lesser evil that is good in the small picture, but counseling would probably be to work toward avoiding that situation. The same explanation would serve for why pleasure and bonding are not equal---if they can considered equal, then that can be an excuse to permanently dominate. Here is the question: what is pornography? The answer may seem obvious but when you think about it things get murky. Is reading a steamy romance pornography? How about a standard film with sex scenes? And, for that matter, what about things that might cause arousal in a small group of people but that majority wouldn't even consider erotic in the least? I have heard that some people even become aroused watching documentaries on insects. For some, the glistening, gleaming carapace of a slimy, smooth praying mantis or grasshopper is just plain HOT. Some look at that the way others look at a boring nude human. Some people become deeply aroused by watching anything insect related and use that as fuel for fantasies about alien monsters, like the Xenomorph Queen. So, should I...I mean, should *THEY* stop watching documentaries on entomology? Everything that exists could be porn for someone.

Anything lustful = mortal sin = sentencing yourself to hell if you die without repenting of it. Temptation is different, if you see a naked ad of a person and you turn away and reject it saying a prayer, that's good, you rejected temptation. But if you get tempted and decide to look anyway and engage it, that's different.

I appreciate this channel and its role in fighting the current culture war and the crux of what it stands for. But, there's a definite elephant in the room being overlooked. All things considered, I take what is being said here on matters of vice with a large grain of salt. I'll add that the arguments against homosexuality (in another episode) are weak, which makes some of these teachings seem pretty arbitrary; similar to how 'living in vice' is being viewed.

I can't help but think that Harold betrayed the confidence and privacy of this man and his wife. I walk away from this video knowing never to open up to Deacon Harold. Don't get me wrong, I like him, and I agree with Catholic theology, but this video bothered me, because this poor man and his wife are also being used as a cheap tool, but Pastorally and Anecdotally.

I didn't hear any names. It's an extremely common story in secular society.

I disagree. Just due to the fact that a Deacon cannot grant absolution. He was just going off one of his possible many conversations with the members of his parish.
