Man, looking his training and knowing something about URSS, Drago wasn't a mere fighter, but a scientific experiment! Probabily, the idea of put so much science and statistics on his training to optimize and make Drago reach beyond even the human limits were to put this on other sports, and, mabe, soldiers. @@CousinJesse1 That's exactly how it works. That's the beauty of bodyweight exercises. Bodyweight works for all humans. If you struggle with basic bodyweight exercises like pushups and pullups you are either too weak or too fat. I'm not trying to be confrontational. That's just how it is. For example, they don't have special "weight categories" for standards in the military or special operations within the military. The reality is that people who call themselves "heavy weights" actually weigh too much for their height, thus making bodyweight exercises harder. Bigger guys in the Navy SEALS or Army Rangers or Army SF crank out pullups, air squats, push ups, etc. They don't get any slack for being "bigger".

That was also one of my favorite parts of the video! Anyway that segment served a meaningful purpose in the montage and movie, even if it wasn't a fully conscious one on the viewer. It shows the resources being devoted to this fighter by the authorities, especially relative to other priorities. The Soviet state is throwing highly skilled fighters at Drago with no regard for them, even as a sport resource. Drago can go ahead and damage them as much as he wants, as though they were bags or dummies; they mean nothing in comparison to him, not just as human lives but even as fighting talent.

From what I understand the thought behind monitoring the brain during stressful workouts and sometimes when not in a stressful workout it gives the trainers and doctors an idea of how hard he’s training and if he starts to sort of get complacent and go on autopilot with the training. If he’s able to go on autopilot they need to change things up. The more you need to pay attention to what you’re doing the more involved and stressful workouts are. He’s on an incline so they may be increasing the grade every time his brain basically says okay I’m comfortable with this.

Entertaining video. I think the barbell lifts Ivan are doing are the Power Clean and the "Power Clean and Press". When he presses it overhead it becomes a power clean and press. The difference between a regular clean and a power clean is the depth of the squat. In the olympic clean you rotate under the bar and go to a full front squat. With a power clean the bar is caught in a quarter-to-half-squat position.
@joeridestrijcker445 Жыл бұрын
the 'shoulder press' part of the exercise he's doing.... wow.... if those are 20kg plates and I counted correctly, he's pressing well over 200-220kg... that's WSM-level, isn't it? Especially as a static press without legs helping, that would be most impressive!

Roach said he never saw a heavyweight come anywhere close to doing something like that. Both Roach and Emmanuel Steward said Wladimir is the most athletic heavyweight they had ever seen. Steward also said he was the most accurate single punch knockout artist ever, with the best jab, footwork and balance of any heavyweight in history. And to remind you - Steward trained over 40 world champions during his career - including Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Tommy Hearns, Tyson Fury, Shannon Briggs, Julio Cezar Chávez, Naseem Hamed, Oliver McCall, Jermain Taylor and James Toney. To anyone who knows what the hell they're looking at when they watch boxing, AJs fight with Wlad was really the first time he was exposed as a protected poser. You have to mention both AJ and Fury when both men's fights with Wlad come up because Wlad was over 500 years old when he fought them both, they both got unfair credit and were overrated for the wins, and if Wlad met them when he was between 24 and 34, he'd have demolished them both. In his prime, Wlad was a better technical boxer than Fury, and infinitely better than AJ. He was an infinitely better athlete than Fury and ten times better than AJ. He was immeasurably stronger than Fury and a hell of a lot stronger than AJ. He was light years faster than them both, and moved better than them both. Number 4 was always my favourite. The first one is a great story, the second followed on and allowed him to take the belt. Closest match of the lot. The third he dropped his guard against a fearsome opponent. But then be stepped up to beat a fearsome opponent. Only the lore of Russia and the big Dolph could be next. Anything else would have felt short of the mark. Great casting, fantastic series.

I heard if you consider the gloves Ivan Drago was wearing cushioning the blow for that 1850 psi result his punch is actually over 4 tons of force

Hey Tony I know this a strange request but could you do a break down on how some UFC fighters like Izzy and some others can be off balance and still throw hard knock out punches. Or maybe you've already done one and I haven't found it yet. I know it has alot to do with talent but would love to hear your expert take on it. I love your content.

Good bit of fun that Tony! 👍 "If he dies, he dies.." 😆 seems to be the attitude of some of my sparring partners!

Hi tony I like your videos and watch them all the time just a quick note it’s not a bicep machine it’s a tricep extension machine he s using.
@joeridestrijcker445 Жыл бұрын
it's not easy to see, I watched it a few times and IMHO it's still a variation to preacher-bench curl, so biceps; I've seen similar machines but never for triceps. The arm position (quite horizontal) looks very odd for it to be triceps extention! (I could be wrong, I haven't seen every single machine that exists ;) )

Dolph Lundgren has been battling cancer for several years. I think he did speculate somewhere that it could be steroid use for some of his roles that contributed to it. Anyway, he's a brilliant man, and I'm praying he is cured 🙏🙌
@Billy-bc8pk20 күн бұрын
Yeah he was literally about to die -- but the dude battled through it. His real life is literally impossible! His feats are unbelievable and sigma tier. There really needs to be a cinematic biography of his life, it's waaaaay more ridiculous than any of the movies he's been in.

I found it strange that you didn't comment on how much psi he produces in a punch which is an exaggeration. Mike Tyson produces over 1,000 PSI punch and in the movie they claim that Drago produces over two thousand PSI punch

An exaggeration not too far off from Dolph's actual ability -- one punch basically killed Stallone.

The first time I saw this, I thought Drago's training was the coolest thing I'd ever seen, something that I'd always wanted to have for myself- a whole team of specialists focused on my workouts. His training honestly looks like a lot of fun. Drago definitely deserved the WIN over Rocky... he was cheated man.

The irony in the portrayal of Drago's physical conditioning program vs Rocky's is the Drago's is a lot more closer to the way that all elite athletes have been trained for the last few decades. For instance, runners are always looking to improve VO2 max and the treadmill test is the standard way to measure it along with measuring heart performance and checking for any abnormalities. These athletes also are on strict regimented diets to meet their physical conditioning requirements.
