Society, and school, encourages you to read. Unless you mean the woke book-burners. I listen carefully to people who say that society won't let them do this or that; we do what we like and take responsibility in doing so.
@feylights1664 жыл бұрын
@@RunninUpThatHillh yes, society encourages us to read, and we can read what we want. I was referring to things that are considered "child-like" (such as make-believe). And it isn't that society *won't* let us do it, just that as adults, we are encouraged to "adult", and thus give up childish whimsy, as the OP said. But plenty of us do it, nevertheless, though some sadly lose it.

When it wasn’t «normal» to make up stories anymore and I had to hide it, I found that I could escape by writing. Not writing with the goal of it being a finished book, but a on going story. Just like when you were little. Me and my best friend found that escape and write stories together that go on and on and on. I love reading as well. It’s when I’m most happy

With no shame I admit that I watch your videos intentionally whenever I need to calm down 🙏🏼 Just like now, it is 4am here in Prague and I just managed to lead a little mouse out of my bedroom - she probably got there before I went to bed and aired the room. It took hours of waiting before she found her way out safely and it was rather an anxious mission for us both. I could not fall asleep after that, so I made myself a cup of hot milk with cinnamon and thought I would play one of your videos to calm down (because that always helps :) ). And I found this beautiful story! Thank you for the energy you share, your walks and love for nature - and reading. All I enjoy as well. I wish you happy days and peace for your country 💗 Goodnight ☺️🐀✨💫

As a child I used to climb up our maple tree and sit on a branch with my back to the tree trunk and read. I loved being surrounded by leaves swaying in the breeze. My favourite books were those of L.M. Montgomery, particularly the Anne series, but my favourite one was The Blue Castle, where a "spinster" in her late 20s transforms her life when she is told she has 6 months to live. I also read Little Women, Little House on the Prairie and as a smaller child, Thornton W. Burgess. As an adult I loved Mary Stewart's mysteries. No one wrote like her. I've re-read her books numerous times.

When I was a young girl we had a pomegranate tree in our yard. We lived in Orange County CA back when there we orange groves and strawberry fields everywhere. Our grass in the front yard was dichondra-a very green almost clover-like grass. I used to lay in that soft cool grass and eat a pomegranate, seed by seed by seed. A whole afternoon would go by while I munched and watched the clouds roll by through the trees.💕 Life was so simple back then…..

Your sentence about the mouse Despereaux really hit me. We truly have the responsibility to define ourselves on our strengths. It is so easy forgotten in the busy time with a stressful job. What a wonderful sentence. A sentence to carry us through a lot of hard times - like a anchor when the sea wants to take us away. Thank you for gifting me this sentence.

I do love to read and am planning on making more room for it in 2021. My favorite story of all time is The Mists Of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

The title 'How stories bring me happiness' brought me here.. Let's see, the latest book I read was "HAPPINESS IS... 500 things to be happy about". That's my kind of book. Maybe 10 words per page with bunch of soothing illustrations. Speaking of soothing, your vlog is so soothing and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

When in school one teacher said always read I told het I promise with a smile as I walk into my journey. For many years books have been brought across my path for my journey of a Eagle to a dreamer who became a creator.

If I may...I do not believe reading is meant to be fast. It is a solitary, serene endeavor which, at its best, is more an evolving stream of mental imagery rather than a page of words. It is magical, transformative, and mood inducing. I can think of no other learned skill that is time better spent than being enveloped in the cocoon of a well written book. Thank you, as always, for sharing your thoughts and images so gracefully. 🧚♂️🙏🙏👍👍❤

It's not the things that can be bought that are life's richest treasure, It's just the little " heart gifts" that money cannot measure... A cheerful smile, a friendly word, a sympathetic nod, from the storehouse of our God... They are things that cannot be bought with silver or gold, For thoughtfulness and kindness and love are never sold... They are the priceless things in life for which no one can pay, And the giver finds rich recompense in Giving Them Away. Thank you for giving us so much joy! ❤️
