Do you have a favorite hobby that relaxes you? Or, if it’s reading, what books do you recommend? In the description I put some books I’ve been loving or reading recently, Recipe links, and a link on how to harvest Sage responsibly. Thank you all for your kindness and support. Also, one point for anyone who notices the dog hair in the milk of my first recipe! Lol, I’m side-eyeing my puppy right now.

Isn’t it magical how as children we transport ourselves into stories? I never understood why suddenly we are discouraged from doing this as adults.

Society, and school, encourages you to read. Unless you mean the woke book-burners. I listen carefully to people who say that society won't let them do this or that; we do what we like and take responsibility in doing so.
@feylights166
@feylights166 4 жыл бұрын
@@RunninUpThatHillh yes, society encourages us to read, and we can read what we want. I was referring to things that are considered "child-like" (such as make-believe). And it isn't that society *won't* let us do it, just that as adults, we are encouraged to "adult", and thus give up childish whimsy, as the OP said. But plenty of us do it, nevertheless, though some sadly lose it.

When it wasn’t «normal» to make up stories anymore and I had to hide it, I found that I could escape by writing. Not writing with the goal of it being a finished book, but a on going story. Just like when you were little. Me and my best friend found that escape and write stories together that go on and on and on. I love reading as well. It’s when I’m most happy

With no shame I admit that I watch your videos intentionally whenever I need to calm down 🙏🏼 Just like now, it is 4am here in Prague and I just managed to lead a little mouse out of my bedroom - she probably got there before I went to bed and aired the room. It took hours of waiting before she found her way out safely and it was rather an anxious mission for us both. I could not fall asleep after that, so I made myself a cup of hot milk with cinnamon and thought I would play one of your videos to calm down (because that always helps :) ). And I found this beautiful story! Thank you for the energy you share, your walks and love for nature - and reading. All I enjoy as well. I wish you happy days and peace for your country 💗 Goodnight ☺️🐀✨💫

As a child I used to climb up our maple tree and sit on a branch with my back to the tree trunk and read. I loved being surrounded by leaves swaying in the breeze. My favourite books were those of L.M. Montgomery, particularly the Anne series, but my favourite one was The Blue Castle, where a "spinster" in her late 20s transforms her life when she is told she has 6 months to live. I also read Little Women, Little House on the Prairie and as a smaller child, Thornton W. Burgess. As an adult I loved Mary Stewart's mysteries. No one wrote like her. I've re-read her books numerous times.

When I was a young girl we had a pomegranate tree in our yard. We lived in Orange County CA back when there we orange groves and strawberry fields everywhere. Our grass in the front yard was dichondra-a very green almost clover-like grass. I used to lay in that soft cool grass and eat a pomegranate, seed by seed by seed. A whole afternoon would go by while I munched and watched the clouds roll by through the trees.💕 Life was so simple back then…..

Everything you post resonates on such a spiritual level with me. I have been beyond blessed this year to find kindred spirits in so many places. I never comment on KZbin because I never have anything important to say, but I hope you read this and know that your videos have touched so many hearts, and people like us are finding community even in our quiet and somewhat solitary lifestyles through the content people like you post. I am so grateful to see this lifestyle being promoted to people who may have never thought to live in such a way, and are inspired to find their peace by following their hearts. I hope that social media will always be kind to you, and that making these videos gives you as much joy as it gives us 😭🥰

That one is the BEST fantasy novel ever. Reading it as an adult, it made me cry because it's just so well written and so beautiful. From the same author, I also recommend "Momo". In general I'm quite a lot into young adult fantasy. I also love the "The Dark is rising" series by Susan Cooper, "The Song of the Lioness" series by Tamora Pierce and similar books. I have to say I am a very fast reader so I'm basically breathing in books. I couldn't live without.

I find audiobooks to be quite helpful if it’s hard to concentrate. I’m glad you were able to find an outlet through reading during your childhood, sounds like it was very difficult. I have a backyard with three trees in my small studio in Brooklyn Heights, NY. I've heard 🐦 songs, silence, seen this piece of nature. My neighbor next door is an artist and painter like you. Books hold a special place in my heart. They have helped me navigate through all the chapters of my life. I can't imagine a world without them. Books to hold and pages to turn no electronic books for me. :)

As a father of now grown children, it was always my favorite time of day when I could sit with them when they were very young and read them to sleep. Goodnight Moon...Margaret Wise Brown. What a fantastic book for cold snowy nights.

i am also a book lover. I homeschooled our five children. I used "real" books, as opposed to textbooks to teach history, literature and even science. There are so many good books that have already been mentioned. One that I haven't seen mentioned and that I think you would enjoy is "The Wind and the Willows". I loved the animal characters and the lovely portrayal of friendship.

There is a story I tell myself, in my thoughts, to put myself to sleep. It has changed throughout the years, but not much if I come to think about it. It is a story about heroism, but also about personal struggle. About trying to find peace and fulfillment. In a way, it has become a lifetime companion and I still turn to it in times of stress or anxiety.

I love reading the gentle books written mostly by women, mostly British, from the 1930s through 1950s and into the early 1960s. They are set in small villages and focus on the teapot storms, eccentricities, and beauties of daily life. Elizabeth Goudge is my favorite, followed closely by D. E. Stevenson and Miss Read. When I want to giggle, no one beats P. G. Wodehouse. More contemporary loves include Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and Terry Tempest Williams, especially Finding Beauty in a Broken World. Love your choices, and your videos.

I love reading, but the fascinating and exciting stories often make me sorry the story has to end and disappointed that the world I live in doesn't seem nearly as exciting and magical. I adore your peaceful channel and I find it very calming, and side note I also like The Hobbit and the Narnia series.

Your sentence about the mouse Despereaux really hit me. We truly have the responsibility to define ourselves on our strengths. It is so easy forgotten in the busy time with a stressful job. What a wonderful sentence. A sentence to carry us through a lot of hard times - like a anchor when the sea wants to take us away. Thank you for gifting me this sentence.

If I may...I do not believe reading is meant to be fast. It is a solitary, serene endeavor which, at its best, is more an evolving stream of mental imagery rather than a page of words. It is magical, transformative, and mood inducing. I can think of no other learned skill that is time better spent than being enveloped in the cocoon of a well written book. Thank you, as always, for sharing your thoughts and images so gracefully. 🧚‍♂️🙏🙏👍👍❤

It's not the things that can be bought that are life's richest treasure, It's just the little " heart gifts" that money cannot measure... A cheerful smile, a friendly word, a sympathetic nod, from the storehouse of our God... They are things that cannot be bought with silver or gold, For thoughtfulness and kindness and love are never sold... They are the priceless things in life for which no one can pay, And the giver finds rich recompense in Giving Them Away. Thank you for giving us so much joy! ❤️
