Very cool. I work for an OE(on the design side) and have been lucky to walk through a couple plants. What sticks out most to me about Bowling Green is the sheer amount of complexity. The auto industry as a whole has been trying to reduce part/configuration complexity (in part due to the success of brands like Tesla that have very little complexity), so to see that GM understands the importance of customization/personalization with the Corvette is great. Thanks for a great video.
@anthonyantoine9232 Жыл бұрын
That really stood out to me as well. I've been doing JIT on a very small scale with highly custom machinery for basically my whole career, first as an engineer and now an engineering manager, and it's a nightmare. Doing it with a basic platform with low part complexity is really not a major deal anymore. Doing it at this scale with the clearly high part complexity even with a base platform is very impressive, and I think it's hard to describe just how impressive it is unless you've actually done it yourself.
@Dowlphin Жыл бұрын
Spiritually, complexity is also an expression of things 'going mental'. The beauty of simplicity is underappreciated because we have been conditioned to fit into a power-tripping society. (But this is not to be confused with the equally problematic uniformity/consolidation agenda that is part of scarcity management.) Imagine a car that doesn't rust/corrode, where after 20 years there is a very new engine worth the swap, which is then done, because the chassis is still so good and also because you couldn't imagine ever letting go of it, because it has served you so well. Imagine you bought it when you were a youngster, and eventually you became more comfortable, so you simply got a swap to a comfort suspension, with plenty of parts available to make it cheap, often the parts being used but almost as new. The price we pay for passion should not be other people's misery. Those who have the courage to look will see a contradiction in passion at someone else's expense. A typical spiritual path would be to accept letting go of things or ideas and then realizing that nothing is lost through that step, but only gained.

First off I have to say that the production and technical value of what you do to me is underrated just to be on a platform like social media opposed to a full production on a commercial level, like television or a commercial broadcast. The footwork and time just out in the field alone is a massive amount of work for just a few people to do, in itself. On the side is GM , and how it produces the Corvette and many other vehicles, and is a tribute on how the engineering field in the GM corporation has improved drastically, over these past years. But not only that but the pride that goes into the workmanship in the vehicles they're making now, especially in the Corvette. In closing , thanks for all the great work, and video production that you put out on KZbin.

I really enjoyed towards the end that you interviewed several people, one lady, I think her name was Morgan, talked about working in the performance engines department and how much pride she takes in assembling performance motors. I wish you had interviewed more people along the way, they all seemed to take an enormous amount of pride in the jobs they were doing and the products they are producing. It's this commitment to excellence that helps propel the world of Corvette from being just a dream to a 5 year old, making yourself a promise that one day, I'll own one of these exciting cars to making it a reality! The heritage you touched on with delivery at the museum to a plant tour to meeting people connected to these cars is pretty amazing. I think if I ever purchase a new Corvette in the future, I'd take the time to do the museum delivery and more importantly to see the car in the plant and the biggest thing I'd like to convey to all of the men and women involved in designing, engineering, manufacturing and assembling these cars is that you're making dreams a reality and thank you.

This is incredibly well done. Interviewing the Engineers involved with the vehicle engineering and Assembly plant design gives such a fascinating perspective that very, very few get to actually see/appreciate. I worked at TNAP as an Engineer for a bit over 2.5 years (The JL Wrangler Assembly Plant). I would love to see this type of video done on a high volume Assembly plant like that. For example - TNAP on average spits out 1,000+ brand new Jeep Wranglers every single day. A running joke at the plant was that it was a custom car shop on a mass scale because the amount of options available (just like the C8) were bonkers and makes sequencing/Quality Control feel like a never ending headache. Great job @savagegeese. This is the best version of this type of video I have seen in years. PS - I would love to see a deep dive into Supplier plants as well since they are just as complex and typically build for several car manufacturers - forcing them to have 3+ versions of quality control and manufacturing language.

This Channel is one off, from the engineering to marketing, from the film making to content creation all perfect...

This is so well produced and fascinating. Congratulations! As a child growing up in the 1960's I was given a plastic model Monza show car, the real car was not mass produced. It featured a mid engine layout/design. It was at this point being 8 years old that a GM mid engine car became my ultimate sports car. I have settled for a very nice car, a 2015 Mustang, and know the Corvette is and will always be just a dream. Still, I appreciate the effort made to build this mid engine car and realize that for many, with the cash, a dream is now fulfilled. It took GM a long time to make this car, it was worth getting it right. I remain impressed by the fact that building the Corvette is a passion and ultimate goal for many GM workers.

Want to say thank you for continuing to make genuinely real long format content guys. Esp in a world driven by short format. Loved this makes me want a Z06 more! Wish I had a connection to getting one.

This HDR content needs to continue. ❤ It added a layer of production that I didn't know existed. 😊 Keep these HDR and long format videos coming. 😊😅🎉

I’ve been here since the beginning and I feel so fortunate to be able to watch your content as an enthusiast. I can’t even imagine what would happen if it was your actual full time job. Thank you.

Thanks for the dedication to your craft. Excellent educational video on the Corvette assembly plant. I did the tour in Nov 2022 and saw the Z06 through its production.

I'm dumbfounded how this channel doesn't have a million plus subscribers already!

Wait... So they don't spontaneously appear every time a 45-50 year old man's 401k hits $500k in value? I need to rethink some things...

I max out my 401k yearly yet only 32% of Americans put money into theirs. Now it all makes sense how everyone is driving around in $70,000 pickup trucks!

Better than saving all that money up to enjoy it when your legs give out and you shit your pants in your senior living 1 bedroom apartment

…aww did you think that daddy’s savings was yours. Poor baby. Get your own job and one day you can buy your own car too! You might even be able to afford your own car insurance

Once again, this is the only HDR content I've watched that works on a mobile device. The brightness doesn't just go full blast and out of wack. Well done

Great vid. Definitely much different to how they do things in Japan. It's interesting to see both processes on the building and creating a vehicle.

It was very moving and emotional for me to watch so many Americans building America's supercar. ❤🏁

Such good content on all your videos. As a C8 owner - this was extra special. That’s some serious in depth access to the Corvette plant. Great job!

Everyone's already said it but you all are the best auto channel on KZbin hands down. Really enjoyed this one -- the pride of the workers at the Vette facility really is amazing.

What a video, this is just phenomenal. As a mechanical engineer who has worked in 2nd and 3rd tier auto industries, I appreciate the insight you’ve provided to the general public. US manufacturing is not celebrated enough, US engineering is not highlighted enough, and the Corvette is a perfect example of US-everything and what we do day in, day out. Love it!
