I read the youtube algorithm research paper and I think the algorithm created Jake and Logan Paul, but also people like Drew Gooden who are great.
I explain some things about algorithms, how youtube's algorithm works, the biases it has and where we go from here.

This is a great explanation because it makes it clear that there wasn’t any inherent “evil” behind the changes made by KZbin, but also really shows how these changes tend to introduce more problems...followed by more “solutions” and more problems. And ads mess things up. Also, is your diploma printed on poster paper? That’s cool.

Very informative! It's interesting to hear a computer science major's take on the algorithm (from a tech standpoint), instead of another influencer who *thinks* they understand it's nature, just because they've had viral content. This actually debunks a lot of false theories that youtubers have told me--nothing against them, they just don't understand the technology like you do.

Spotify literally recommends my previously played music that i didnt save. KZbin recycles videos ive watched but not liked. Same recycle bullshit. recommend the videos but make sure to censor everything the 'algorithm' has been tuned to censor. Welcome to 1984. Ferenheit 451.

The thought and effort you put into your vids (research, filming, etc.) leads to such DOPE content. It'd be interesting to hear any ideas you have regarding the algorithm/recommendations or any practices KZbin currently does. I think more transparency from KZbin would be a good first step.

Wow, knowing how the "Algorithm" works could potentially be powerful for any creator wanting to make youtube videos. Also, this explains why some videos take off in the beginning. The machine already knows who to recommend the video to initially, but once that burst of an audience is expended it may take a longer time to find that next audience group. Because of this, your personal video statistics will never really reach a stable average view count like videos would back in 2008. This could be good or bad for the creator, because your heavy hitter videos as far as add content go could make loads of money for a while and then halt for a period of time and then resume again. This is why consistency in uploads is key if you want a steady stream of revenue because lets face it ad revenue is important to creators trying to make a living out of their passion.
