Pack arrived this morning! No instructions in the box! This was the only thing I didn't know how to do from unboxing videos... opened KZbin to find it and literally this was the first video in my for you list. The ghost gods smiled upon me. Thanks for being there for me!

Ughhhh thwarted again! Got the straps off and opened the hardware package and I only have five of the shorter screws. From what I can see I should have had ten short and two long? It's just not my day

Awww man that's a bummer! Look around and make sure you didn't drop any, I know from experience they'll find a crevice somewhere. I know its a little more inconvenient but take a screw with you to Lowes as reference and snag a few, won't cost much at all. There should be 10 small and 2 long, yes sir.

A couple of things I had to do differently: I had to replace the two long screws at the bottom with longer (5mm) screws. The supplied screws just barely caught the threads of the inserts in the pack. Also, I had to notch the frame's cross bar to make those two brackets fit - they did not line up with the threaded inserts on the pack.

I tried mine on with the factory straps, it didn't feel very good wearing it resting directly on my back. Also, I'm a pretty big guy and the straps were a little tight for me even when loosened as far as they would go. It feels much better to wear with an ALICE frame attached, and the straps on the frame fit me much better.

I didn't try it on without the frame but I'm sure as you said its uncomfortable. It's comfy and light with the frame.

I felt the same way. Plus, loosening them while trying to stabilize the pack is a bit obnoxious whereas the ALICE can sized before mounting and ready go afterwards.

Nice job. The Alice frame is super tight on the top though. It tapers in for some reason. There should be a gap between the foam tube and the back of the pack. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Cheers

They designed the brackets to hold the top of the frame directly against the motherboard. I think they did it that way because it's the easiest way to attach the ALICE frame without having to drill holes into it. I modded mine by laying the frame on top of the brackets and using zip ties to secure it. I plan to drill into it and bolt the frame to the brackets with spacers to make it more accurate.

It was specifically designed that way so that you wouldn't have to drill any holes. To have the frame more accurate would require drilling a hole in the frame where the top bracket is. You'd also need a spacer in between like the ones on the bottom. Since the pack is plastic you'd have to add a threaded insert so the newly added screw through the top of the alice frame would bite. Hope that helps. I don't plan to do any such modifications to the pack at this point.

@@ChrisBoshProps Interesting. Yeah, they could have just provided two extra spacers (like the ones at the bottom) and longer screws for the top. It would have evened it out properly then. It's a minor issue really, but it just looks wrong from the side view. Nice work. Looking forward to seeing any other mods you make on it.

1 inch foam rubber pipe insulation. You can get it pretty easy at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. 3/4 inch works as well but I like the extra padding with the 1 inch.

What is the screw size? There is supposed to be a wider space between the mother board and the frame. Spacers to increase the width

The original pack shells used in the film did have spacers in between to create a gap from the frame to the pack motherboard. Hasbro specifically designed it this way so that the consumer wouldn't have to drill any holes or do any modifications and could just easily add the frame so with that constraint it does have less of a gap. The screws are 10-32 or 10-24 if I had to guess but not entirely sure.

I don't think the real prop can stand on its on either. It was always shown laying flat (like in the courtroom scene in Ghostbusters 2), or stored in the modified gurney rack in the Ecto-1 (which the display stand is based on).

I have a issue with the hose losing connection. It’s on tight enough and I have fresh batteries in it. But when the hose bends, and I’m not bending it that much. it loses connection, and then turns the pack off. I’m wondering if anybody else has had this issue. I contacted customer service, so hopefully they’ll get back to me soon.

I'm sorry to hear that. I actually went out for you just to check and wiggled my house around quite a bit and never lost connection. I'm sure you already have done it but make sure to double check your connection, unplug and plug/screw it back in and make sure the 2 prongs are making connection properly. I hope that helps.

The fact that Hasbro touts the proton pack as a prop replica, but sells it to the consumer incomplete, really bothers me. The customer spends $400 on this thing and you STILL have to hunt down and buy a neutrino wand and Alice frame to complete it. Anyone, with the technical know how, could custom build one for cheaper.

Thank you for the comment. I understand your frustration but I'll have to disagree on someone with technical know how being able to build one of similar quality at the 400.00 price point. For 600ish dollars including the wand and Alice frame you get a pack that looks like a movie pack with full lights and sound. I've been building proton packs since 2006 and could never build a pack that cheap that actually looks like a movie pack with lights and sounds. I know 3D printing has helped make things a little cheaper but unless you already have one your still going to pay well close to 1000 dollars to get something remotely close to looking as good as this Hasbro pack. You could probably build a Dollar Tree junk pack that looks the part but that's probably about as far as your going to get close to 600 dollars or maybe a Spirit pack upgrade but that's only a 3/4 scale pack. This Hasbro pack especially happening during the pandemic is nothing short of a miracle that we have something that looks this good even with having to purchase the additional wand and frame.

They publicly stated that they tried to include an ALICE Frame, but they couldn't find one that was cost effective and as sturdy as they would want it to be if they were going to ship it with the pack. That's why they made the motherboard A-Frame compatible and included the mounting pieces. As for the wand, when it was made they never planned in making the pack, but the public reaction to the wand and people asking for the pack to go with spurred them to make it. And there is no way you can build a custom pack for under $600, some of the light and sound equipment alone costs half the price of the HasLab Pack, not including a smoke machine, or the shell and everything else that goes into making them.
