You helped me prove to a mate that you can adjust the damper by removing the rear trim. Thank you.

Hey what’s up man, nice video and everything. Not trying to be a dick or anything but rears done incorrectly. After you have the desirable height you want in the spring you raised it till the spring barely moves using a jack. Then after that you do the preload. According the BC racing the preload is between 7mm-10. So once you raised the spring and you measure the compression in the spring then you adjust the strut so it aligns perfect. Otherwise you’ll hear cluck noises and it can affect your suspension performance.

No worries, I appreciate the comments. So what you described to me sounds exactly like what I just did except I didn't measure the preload compression. I just jacked the cup up until the spring was secure and didn't move, then adjusted the strut to align properly. I do have some clunk in the right rear which I've attributed to possible preload issues so I will be revisiting it.

@@thecarizon504 can you do a update video? You're literally my Bible with installing coilovers right lol
@critical_mass82792 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Hard to find a video showing you how to adjust the rears. Question for you - why do you have to adjust the spring seat t I change the height, on the rear. Surely as per front that just the preload of the spring. Can't you simply adjust the shock to chnage the height.

So let’s say the spring in the back is on the car. To lower the car, the gold rings have to go up right?
@nasmedia38692 жыл бұрын
I have the same system on my Z, however, I didnt get the idea/logic why to adjust the rear springs, if the shock/strut are is responsible for the car height and stiffness. What is the job of adjusting the rear springs and why we need to adjust them?
@thecarizon5042 жыл бұрын
The strut does not hold the weight of the car, the spring is indeed what controlls the ride height and it will compress to accomdate the spring height accordingly.

Nice video, I have a 350z with rear bucket coilovers, do I need to remove everything to adjust height?
@thecarizon5044 жыл бұрын
You need to be able to disconnect the strut to adjust the ride height, yes.

Do you install, break in, adjust? Or adjust, install, break in?
@DONTRAGEQUlT5 жыл бұрын
My Z that i just picked up has rear coilovers just like yours with the bucket springs. But does the spring portion solely decide ride height? or does the strut as well? I lowered the car with the springs but didnt rotate the strut much so it this putting more pressure on the strut since it's not as low as the springs? Thanks
@thecarizon5045 жыл бұрын
The ride height is largely determined by the spring height. The car stops dropping when the load on the spring balances out the weight of the car, which requires some amount of compression of the spring. By changing the spring hat height, you change how low the car has to drop before loading the spring. The strut is used to set the preload, and you can further lower the car by shortening the dampner to pre-compress the spring. It's a complicated system, the two sort of work together to set the ride height.

Just buy the true style Coilovers, along with front/rear adjustable camber and rear toe bars since true style can delete the stupid spring bucket which also does your toe alignment.
@bmanh23553 жыл бұрын
So would you say the ride is better? Handling characteristics better? Less body roll? Why not just upgrade the sway bars first?
@thecarizon5043 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes, yes, and because coilovers have the added benefit of lowering the car, which further reduces body roll, and I like the lowered look.

Hey man what were the measurements for the front and rear that you set your coil overs to?
@thecarizon5043 жыл бұрын
I don't recall actually measuring them. I was fortunate to get the ride height correct on the first go. Just make sure the LR match and adjust as needed.

Which bolts, top or bottom of the strut? Should just be a socket and socket wrench of the appropriate size.

What do I do to raise it if the front has 3 locking collars?
@doubledewdagod2 ай бұрын
I have one at the bottom. One in the middle underneath another and then above that is another one with a bigger one on top that I have to use my larger spanner wrench for. My brake line bracket is hitting the bottom of the 3rd small collar at the top. Does that mean my preload is messed up? I didn't install this. But I'm having problems raising it bc of this.
