I really hope the community appreciates what you're doing with your videos. I'm fairly new so I've been doing a ton of searching on various mechanic vids etc. Yours are literally like an instruction manual vs 'boost, lean back, hit ball, ta-dah!'. Great job. Going through the training pack shot by shot was the single best way I've seen to break down ground-to-air dribbles in particular. I checked your video history and saw that you don't have a flicking tutorial yet. If and when the day comes that you make one, that will be your truest test as a Rocket League educator in my view. I've watched a LOT of flick tutorials over the years, and NOT ONE has been able to adequately explain how to perform them to people who don't know already. They always miss some steps, mistakenly see some aspect as self-evident, or just don't realize that they have mastered some non-obvious individual element involved in flicking that the viewer hasn't. (In particular, beginning flickers will often see the ball just escape the top of their car, either by popping up or by rolling off, and it's shocking how many tutorials never even mention how to combat this.) That's your benchmark right there. Do it better than anyone has ever done, do it so thoroughly that whatever mistakes a viewer performs while training, they know what's causing it, since you covered all the possibilities :-) Keep up the good work!
@CBellRL4 жыл бұрын
awesome comment man. will definitely cover flicks at some point and you're right - I would like to address it in a holistic way that would almost guaranteeing the viewer some low level mastery of flicks. thanks for the support

A man was driving down a in the middle of no-where road and a squire jumps out in front of his car. The man swerves out of the way to save the squirrel's life, and crashes into a ditch on the side of the road. The man walks down the road until he happens across a little pink house. He opens the little pink gate, goes up the little pink path, to the little pink porch, and rings the little pink doorbell. He waits a while and the little pink door opens, there a little pink lady stood. The little pink lady asked, "Hello, how may I help you?" The man replied "Uhh my car crashed, in a ditch nearby. May I use your phone to call a tow truck?" "Yes you may. Go down the little pink hall, take a little pink right into the little pink kitchen, and on the little pink counter there will be a little pink phone." said the little pink lady in a long winded response. So the man went down the little pink hall, took a little pink right into the little pink kitchen, and on the little pink counter there was a little pink phone. The man picked up the little pink receiver, dialed the little pink numbers, and called the little pink tow truck company. The little pink tow truck company told the man that they would be there in the morning. So the man took a little pink left out of the little pink kitchen , went down the little pink hall and found the little pink lady. He told her that the little pink tow truck company would not arrive till the mourning. So the little pink lady told him to go up the little pink stairs, go down the little pink hall and take the red room , the green room or the blue room. Hey CBell, when starting ground to air dribble when do we change from ball cam to car camera or is it even neccesary to do do? I don’t change it from the wall but it fells like it would be helpful to change it from the ground. Thnx for the advice

yeah I would have ground to air dribble ball cam OFF. you don't really need it. I would only keep ball cam on for this until the first touch if you must

It seems to me in the video that the example guy from the start of the video already had his car camera turned on when he started the air dribble. It reminds me of how pro player like squishy always turn of ball cam and go to car cam before they hit the ball even in the air during redirects. Seems like there is something to it...
@ProdiJoee4 жыл бұрын
If you're trying to put yourself in game situations. I would switch to ball cam when I see I'll have time to go for a dribble. If you get that beautiful bouncing ball it's a great chance to go for the chip air dribble. As long as you have the boost.

Great video. Especially the tip for aiming above the goal. As for the wall to air dribbles, what really helped me that a lot of tutorials don't mention is you want to jump off the wall almost immediately after making contact. This helps you stay closer to the ball and will give you a better start to the air dribble. If you jump to late, beginners sometimes will try to make up for that lost time by boosting too fast to the ball, in turn, knocking it to far away from them.
