I put my new sensor in after my morning shower and leave it 4-6 hours before switching over. That gives the new one time to settle down and get in line with the old one.

I can't stand needles. I can barely use the insulin pen needles. So when I applied the G7 sensor for the first time I was so shocked! I didn’t feel a thing. Literally nothing at all. 😮 this change in my life may not be as bad as I thought. Ugh, 2 days of MRI's coming up means 2 days of finger stabs. 😢 Can't wait to get a new sensor on after the MRI's. 😅

I usually forego the over patch because of skin irritation so usually I leave my g7 on without any additional adhesive and if it starts coming off, then I put some tagaderm or something similar to keep it down for the remaining time. I find that it’s pretty good about staying on without it though .

I just recently found your videos and they are very informative. One of the questions I do have about the G7 is, since my son’s G7 is now connected to his Tslim pump. Is there a way we can still use the follow app so we can see his numbers while at school? I haven’t seen any info on that.

Have you tried using the Follow app and it didn’t work? Is your son still able to connect the Dexcom sensor to his phone as well? That needs to happen in order for follow to work. I’ve got a video coming out on the 15th that will also show you how to set up follow in some cool ways

@@diabe_tech that’s the thing with the control iq he doesn’t have to pair the Dexcom with a phone anymore since the pump automatically pairs to the CGM. So I don’t know if he could still pair it with a Dexcom app. Been researching a lot but can’t find any info on being able to use both the control Iq and using the Dexcom app.

I had to do that with G6. If you live near Costco, get the generic Aller Flo, much less expensive and incredible price when it is on sale compared to Flonase.

Applying the overlay patch is very, very difficult! Pealing off the tabs without disturbing the white patch is super difficult. And good luck getting the empty circle properly over the G7 censor in such an awkward spot with poor visibility. (The difficulty of applying the overlay patch is the #1 reason that I apply "off label" on my stomach)

My daughter breaks out something fierce from it. So we use an under patch made by SugarPatch. We have a system. Wash arm, alcohol swab arm, apply skin barrier by McKesson, apply sugar patch under patch, apply G7, put on a bump guard by GripShield, then top with a Glucomart patch. It’s a process but it saves her skin. We’ve only had one G7 fall off prematurely and that was because we used a different over patch. The only irritation happens where the tiny hole is in the under patch. Kind of Crazy.

@@MyScubadoohave you tried putting Flonase on the skin first and letting it dry? I replied similarly in the message about G6 vs G7 adhesive. If you try and it works, get the Costco generic version, Aller Flo, a LOT cheaper.

My youngest was recently diagnosed with T1D and our doctor prescribed the G7. Our insurance also does not pay for it. I don’t know your situation, but I found that there is a coupon through Dexcom for people without insurance. Our pharmacy (small mom and pop) allowed us to go without insurance and use the coupon. It ended up being 1/2 the price. I believe we pay $225 per month, but it is worth it for us.

@@dingdongdaddy589 That’s our next step. My 8yr old daughter has Down and we never wanted to take advantage of “the system” but now with this diagnosis I think we will end up applying. We already have one of those high deductible insurance plans, so we might as well get what we can get.

Make me so mad that they make this smaller device but want you to use the stupid patch. Make a better adhesive. FSL is same size and stays on just fine for 14 days. Ok feel better now. I use SkinTac before I apply and device staying on without the patch. Am on third sensor and all have stayed on for the full 10 days. I keep an eye on it and keep the patch to use if necessary. Also tend to get compression lows with G7. Was never a problem with G6. Thanks for your videos. Have my Endo watching.

Wow are you my twin. I asked a tech at Dexcom if they improved adhesive. My device was staying on fine with some SkinTac (wonderful product) and she was horrified. Said you have to use over patch. Compression lows happen often with G7. Can’t say completely happy or satisfied with G7. I don’t feel it is as accurate as G6. I do Moore finger sticks because I don’t fully trust the device. Whew now i feel better

Dude! You totally are not doing the best that you can. First! One should never shower at least 6 hours prior to attaching a new sensor. Then, you need to shave the area. I shave the area with 91% isopropyl, not any shaving cream or water. Any hair at all at the application site may cause the sensor to detach early. After shaving I use 91% isopropyl, not any alcohol pads to clean the area and remove any shaved-off hair. I apply the 91% isopropyl with a clean exfoliating pad or glove and rub in a circular motion. I then let this air dry for a few minutes. I apply the sensor with the button facing up. That way, the narrow part of the sensor is up so that water flows off of it better than if the long edge was up. After applying, I press the sensor into my skin for 20 seconds, not 10. I then rub the adhesive strip around the edge with a pair of curved hemostats to press the adhesive to my skin. I pay attention for small, lighter colored areas on that adhesive strip. That may indicate that it is not as attached as well in that specific area. After going around the sensor a few times, pressing the adhesive, I'm set. I do not use the over-patches at all. When I first got the G7 I tried them and the sensors fell off so I quit doing that. I've not had one come off or even separate from my skin since and I've been doing the G7 for a year now. This has worked for me in all types of weather conditions throughout the year. I run ultra marathons so it is really important for me that these stay on. Before I shaved and prepped like this, I had a G6 come off 45 miles into rainy, humid race. I do not want that to ever happen. Thanks for the vids. You do great work. But seriously, try the steps I've outlined. You will be amazed. Even without the new, promised Dexcom adhesive you uncovered in your last Dexcom One+ vid. ROCK ON! 👍🏼💪🏼💯
