This idea of disciplining yourself leading to more freedom is so counterintuitive it will be hard for most in bondage to grasp. Wow! Never thought about it like this before and it’s been so true in my walk with Jesus. The more you yield to what he is telling you to do the more free you become. This gives me such peace and joy. Thank you!

Following Christ pays great dividends of eternal life, joy and peace! When my daughter was 11 years old she completed Franklin Graham’s course of Dare to be Daniel. She is now 27 and still has the “ dog tags” which were given at completion of course

Totally agree that love for our neighbor is not wanting them to die in their sin. "Love your neighbor as yourself" has so much depth of meaning. I intentionally do not want harm to come to myself, much less dying a tragic death. So, if I love my neighbor as I would myself, I do not want harm to come to them. Spiritually I do not want them to end up in hell any more than I want myself to end up in hell. Part of relating is admitting our own weakness and our need for what Christ did for us on the cross and resurrection, conquering sin and death. Thank you again for what you do, and the impact of your faith God uses to reach others.

I love you Becket! I am grateful for my smart phone because I get to listen to shows like yours! I too, used to believe that they were evil, and only got a cell phone 2 years ago. But now I have come to believe that it's not the way we process the information that's evil, but the desires of our hearts. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, HE gives us the desires of our hearts and we will desire to look upon things that edify our lives. We may fall into the temptation to look upon things that aren't so edifying at times, but ultimately, the Lord brings us back.

Wow. Such an interesting conversation! Thank you. I got some confirmations on what God spoke to me. As we live in one of the Nordic countries in Europe where we are literally surrounded by all this people with LGBTQ flags I was asking the same question “how to live in such society as Christian?” And one day I was worshiping at home with the windows open (it was warm summer day) I felt like Daniel xD and I felt God was saying “this is how you live in this society”. I was feeling a little bit intimidated to worship loudly but then I felt boldness. We need to worship God without hiding it from others. And also thinking about LGBTQ people saying “Love is love” I was contemplating on what love really is. What does it even mean “love is love”? It doesn’t mean anything unless you define what love really is. And the Word of God defines love very well. It’s definitely not what the world means…

Thank you so much for this. I have a friend who has been going deeper and deeper into depravity, fist a nudist, then polyamouris, then cross dressing, now self identifies as gender fluid and who knows what else. I don't know what to say to him, he is so convinced that he is finding his truth and authentic self, but I'm so concerned about his soul. But I honestly don't know what to say to him, because I know he will probably think I'm judging him or being ignorant. Now I just keep quiet and don't say anything, I've even considered not being his friend anymore since we have so little in common now. I feel so torn. I want to speak truth but don't know how to do this without offending him. And what do I even say. Please pray for me for wisdom and courage.

Hey Becket. Have you done a show on divorce? My wife of 21 years decided she didn't want to be married anymore. I fought it. Asked her to go through pastoral counseling, she did but in the end she divorced me. I lost everything, my children's relationship is strained, I'm alone and in despair. She says I was a good father and husband. All her Christian friends encouraged her saying she had a right to be happy. I could have been more ambitious, I had my stuff, but not enough for divorce. Divorce was the first thing the church gave up on, now we got church's encouraging same sex marriage, etc.

I hope this doesn't come across as divisive, I love this channel & also have a lot of respect for the work Dr. McDowell does but I found his answer on if homosexuals can be Christians troubling. Jesus taught about putting sin to death in His sermon on the Mount. I am not criticizing anyone for having sinful urges (we all have those) & of course God can forgive us of whatever sin we commit, we have to have a repentant heart though & there's a difference between sinning & practicing sin. Someone who makes their pet sin their identity & frequently goes out & commits it is not demonstrating the fruit that comes with a repentant heart. If I referred to myself as a cheater & every so often went out & had affairs, most people would recognize how sinful that is & wouldn't give me a pass just because I asked for forgiveness after it was over. We are all sinners, but forgiveness isn't a license to sin & it is never okay to make your sin your identity once you are in Christ.

Why don’t I ever get notifications for new Becket episodes hmm. I always have to search them out
How can we be loving and speak truth when “the other side” is so full of hate, ready & waiting to attack with a vengeance. Like I feel oppressed and in hiding with my biblical views, like I can’t say anything because people, old friends, family friends, etc, will attack with so much more passion/hate than I can handle- than I want to invite. I want to speak the truth out of love- I feel love and compassion, but it’s easier to live “peacefully” and not voice my views unbidden rather than call the wrath of hell upon myself. I don’t want to live in fear. I’m actually jealous of people who “live out loud” in their faith.

I have never thought of Daniel, as an example of the way we should live in a crooked world!!! Great example... What a great guest! If this book is for young kids, imagine what it could do to grown ups who are willing to put into action some of the examples or advices 🤩 The only thing I could not agree on 100% is about "the gay christian" topic. I think that Genesis 1 is the basis of knowing that if we are male and female and if we have a true understanding of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, there is no grey area and therefore no possibility of someone being "gay christian" Now with that said, I would like to add that I am not condemning people, just the action of homosexuality. Can a gay person turn to Jesus and be saved, once he/she have stopped sinning, absolutely!!! It is always a matter of loving the person, but not condoning or misinterpreting the sinful behavior... Anyways, great video and thanks for the great words of encouragement! 🥇
@mayragarciasanchez93052 жыл бұрын
what I would like to add, because I don't think that I elaborated well on my argument is that, when one person repents, they are "born again" they don't go on saying "I am a "prostitute Christian" just as well, a gay person, who is born again, doesn't not say I am a "gay Christian..." Romans 6:6 states it clearly: "This is what we know: the person that we used to be was crucified with him in order to get rid of the corpse that had been controlled by sin. That way we wouldn’t be slaves to sin anymore" Now, with that said, do I mean that christian people never sin, NO! But we call ourselves crhistians because we follow Christ, not our sin. Christ defines us, not our sins. And though we fall and sin again, we repent and we carry on because: 1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong. So am I am sorry, but it doesn't fit well with me the expression of "gay christian", because you either know that you have been saved through Jesus Christ, (John 19,30) or you are just giving into your flesh and haven't made up you mind. Thanks!!!
@suestephan32552 жыл бұрын
I have to correct you statement “turn to Jesus once he/ she has stopped sinning.” We come to Jesus because He draws us and then by His grace can stop a sin s we draw closer to Him and study His word. Beckett is a good example.

19:49 As Sean recited Jesus' illustration about the plank and sliver in your eye, versus your brothers' - judge not, lest you be judged, I'm glad Sean expanded on it. To expressly judge ourselves first, before judging another. Because the Holy Spirit quickly highlighted the scripture where Jesus demonstrated this practically. He called the Pharisees into question, over this after bringing the adulteress woman before Him. Jesus asked - who among you is without sin, cast the first stone? In other words, God would prefer no judgement over unrighteous judgement. Which is exactly what Jesus achieved in going to the cross. His obedience meant God did not have to punish mankind for their sin, so mankind could seek Him out. Free instead of bound. That's what Beckett's testimony reveals so much. He had the freedom to live his own truth. Until in the end he judged - is this all there is? That's when the Lord left his calling card, at the cafe. Delivered by those willing to speak truth, and treat him like a brother. Had those servants at the cafe, been like the Pharisees, they would have picked up their stones instead of their bibles - and brother Beckett's fate would have been very different. This conversation wouldn't have been had, and I wouldn't know about the book.

I am a pastor in New York. Is there a way I can contact you. I have questions about helping young people that are retransitioning. I think churches need to prepare for another Jesus revolution. There was a point made in the move that stood out. “People doing drugs is a cry for help”. When they came to an end of the road and didn’t find the answers they were looking for, the doors of the church were shut. This issue is much more complicated than opening your doors to a hippy that looked for answers in drugs. I would let a drug addict attend church, even if he was high, while he was seeking help. I would not allow him to do drugs, sell drugs or make comments to kids about how good it feel to get high. I also would welcome a homosexual the same way, which we have, but I was really conflicted when he started telling the other youth that he had a crush on one of the other boys, never mind how it made the boy feel. My heart is to want to help. I know at times things can be said in ignorance that are offensive, my goal is to educated my church.

Hey Beckett. I don't know if you remember, but I asked you a while back to invite Arianna Armour onto your show. She is an ex-transgender who came to Christ and detransitioned less than two years ago. You should ask her whether we as Christians should use people's preferred pronouns.

I’m not sure I would describe Jesus as kind and I’m honestly not sure that’s helpful? He was merciful, grace filled, forgiving, but he was truth telling. He flipped the tables, he called out sin, he spoke what seems so be harshly and directly. He spoke truth in ways that weren’t always received. Most people wouldn’t call that ‘kind’.
