I am not the most assertive person but I just practised saying No, thank you with a smile and that's it, I've found nobody insists on me eating unhealthy food I don't want. And I bring my own food too, or eat before a party or leave early and eat at home. The important thing is to be there with your friends, bring a little present if appropriate and not enter into any discussions or explanations about my way of eating.

I rarely mention what I'm eating to friends, even when I'm eating with them. The moment you discuss what you're eating you give permission to others to make endless comments about your "diet", which will end up being irritating or worse. My WFPB meals are so delicious, if someone says something I just say, "It's soooo good!" with a dreamy look on my face, that usually stops any negative comments, some acquaintances have even started eating more like me because they see how much I enjoy my food and stay slim. I've dropped one false friend who was very overweight, pre-diabetic and criticised me for being "too skinny", deleted her number, she is not missed! I made other friends just walking in the park, talking to people in queues, etc., including a new best friend I have so much in common with and who makes me feel so good about myself.
