Funny story about this spotting thing. So I was benching 2 plates for only like the 3rd time ever, asked the guy at the front desk to spot me. Usually I can only do 6 clean reps to failure. He says, you're going for 8? I say yea I guess. Anyway, so I get going, and by the 6th one i'm struggling, so i'm thinking for sure he's gonna help me on the 7th rep right? but NOPE. I'm thinking "what the fuck is this guy doing doesn't he see I need help!?". Then my ego says let me go for the 8th one, SURELYYY he's gonna help me out if anything...but NOPE. I'm pushing with all my life thinking about how I was going to fucking die, how I had a spotter who wouldn't even spot me. Then he makes eye contact with me and says "good job" and goes back to the desk. And THAT'S when I realized...I did two entire reps more than I ever did or ever even thought I could or ever even tried!! It made me realize that when push comes to shove, you likely have more gas in the tank than you think! I went from being pissed he didn't spot me to being grateful AF lol. Thanks for reading :)

I love these longer videos, they are best quality videos there is. However, I miss the daily training videos you had when you got started. Every day I could tune in and get motivated to hit the gym, in the days when I was just a starter. You pushed me though the hard beginner phase with those videos. My schedule was based on exercises I saw in your videos. My music playlist was straight from the videos. Damn I miss those damn videos.. Keep it up Sim, much love from Norway

Your definitely right about what you was saying about the spot, if I'm lifting like 4 and a half or more I would want the spot for about 1-2 reps it doesn't make sense to do the weight for like 6-10 reps your excellent with this you speak the truth

@harryzed90908 жыл бұрын
If you would be able to do it and he still decides to help you, yea he fucks up big time. He lifts a few kg / pounds of your last rep which can have negative influence on your progressive overload. If you realize that and you decide to call it stealing a rep thats cool :)

@OOTD_8 жыл бұрын
+Rob Johnson I did the same thing. It may not be a tear you have to let it heal. I went and seen a doctor because I thought it was a tear in my shoulder. After the X-rays it wasn't a tear. The doctor told me to take it easy for a few months to let it heal. So lighten the weignt and don't go down too far on dumbell press or bench press which is how I more than likely strained the ligament. I feel great now so just change your form a bit and lighten the weight.

i notice he holds the bar without wrapping his thumbs around. Is there any benefit of this? does it make it harder? is it better for your wrists?
@teemu29798 жыл бұрын
+dUb ™ It makes it slightly easier in terms of mobility of your shoulder, elbow and wrist to come all the way down with the bar, there is a slight risk tho that you would slip the bar so I would suggest getting used to wrapping the thumb around the bar just to remove all risks.
@DUBZzDave8 жыл бұрын
