A 1 gallon ziplok bag over that rear filter will make the job cleaner. You can do that with the engine oil filter too. Take care.

Did my truck this morning, 2018 first time since new at 120k my large filter at the rear was so rusty on the outside it almost caved in when unscrewing it lol same to say it was easy and I’ll change them more often lol

Should you do this when fuel is low

@@Rhino5.0 it doesn’t matter. Probably wouldn’t hurt just in case something breaks or goes wrong, but fuel level won’t effect anything for this task

I just changed my filters and I can hear the rear lift pump priming really loud. Is yours the same ?
