I helped change an evaporator in a walk in fridge today with one of our fgas techs. The gas charging operation was similar to yours but we had scales. He also had a funky ratchet spanner for the valves. As a 25 year electrician this was something different. I am doing my City and Guild’s fgas next week so I can play with the AC units at work. As always good videos. Best wishes.

Hi sir. I just have some friendly questions and observations: 1.) As you mentioned that the system is a closed one, the diminished system pressure should surely imply a leak somewhere in the system. Were you able to find it? 2.) While you did purge the air out from the yellow hose but I did not see you purging out the air from the blue and red hoses. I haven't experienced working on a refrigerator yet so it really wonders me how to purge the air out from the blue hose considering it's below or equal to atmospheric pressure unlike in air-conditioning system where low side pressure is considerably above atmospheric. Hope you could enlighten me sir. More power to your channel.

So where did the refrigerant which was in the system disappear to before charging since you said there was no leakage ? And also when you finished charging the low side gauge was still showing zero
@leckyjake
@leckyjake 2 жыл бұрын
please take note that the container is moving from country to country, ship to ship, and port to port in which a lot of Technicians are handling them. there are some instances that they do maintenance and troubleshooting in which they might have had charge refrigerant less esp if they are in a very low ambient temperature.
@toyen1893

Thoroughly leak check as what you’ve said on 1:37, but you didn’t show that you check the tubings on condenser, evaporator and bulkheads leading in/out the evaporator. So how is it so sure that the system has no leak at all? And how is it that the suction/low pressure side is still zero after charging? Thanks if you can be able to answer.
@leckyjake
@leckyjake Жыл бұрын
if i will put the whole clips then the video will take for hours. This is a moving machinery which travels all around the world, from trucks to trucks, from cities to cities, vessels to vessels and from hot area to low ambient temperature area. if the container came from a low ambient area and a service was made then there is a posibility that less refrigerant was charged but would still work since condensation on the condenser is too easy due to low ambient but once this travels to tropical countries just like malaysia, then this less freon would matter and need recharging.

what country are you from? are those charge hose fittings required by your countries laws? how do you push air from your hoses with those silly low loss fittings? hope you don’t have to pull vacuum through all that silly stuff also. we can and are made to always contain our refrigerant as techs and you here prove it’s easy to do, yet it commonly leaks from refrigerant systems with little or no regulations or punishments when it does. brand new equipment leaking its charge from day one. i’ve seen 100’s of kilos of refrigerant go freely, but it’s not made a big deal. but your using a manifold thats overly complex, expensive and burdensome i’m assuming because it’s required by your laws. let’s try building equipment that’s not junk
