I had honed granite installed just two weeks ago. First it showed every thing I put on it so if I put a plate on it, there was a mark if I put a cup on it there was a mark and they didn’t completely come out when I washed it was soap and water. It’s almost as if there’s it kind of a goo on top. Manufacturer told me to clean with acetone and reseal. I’m still feel sort of a stickiness that shows streaks when I drag my finger across it. , and I have buffed and buffed and buffed. I don’t know what kind of sealer I did because they gave it to me in this jar, unmarked . Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Great video. How often do you suggest sealing granite in a heavy use area? (Around Sinks and ovens, islands, etc)

We reccomend every 12-18 months. Probably closer to 12 in a high use area. Thanks for watching !

Are use vinegar and water on a lot of stuff I wonder if I can use it on my countertops because it cleans stainless steel and glass really well
@FOUCHFABS3 жыл бұрын
Mike will answer your questions shortly. He has been very busy lately.

Vinegar is an acid. It can etch your granite over time. It will also reduce the life of the sealant. A couple drops of Dawn dish detergent in a bottle of water works great. Use a microfiber towel to wipe your counters. If you feel you need something stronger to disinfect, wipe with 70% rubbing alcohol OR use a steamer.

Great video. What about 16 year old kitchen grease stains that are really in the pores?
@bobbydelamar6062 жыл бұрын
I've heard there's paste with peroxide, water and flour but not sure how to use it.
@FOUCHFABS2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are called poultice. I haven't really used them much. There is actually a guy who started making pre packaged mix. I saw them in the 2022 Braxton Bragg catalog. I'm sure it's in their on line store. I would recommend that. FYI I attempted to remove set in grease from a top several years ago and even after polishing it down to 50pad and trying everything I knew to remove it I still failed. Good luck.

I had a bright color granite. The areas near my stove have darkened. How do I get that bright color back? Ive tried just about everything . Any help will be greatly appreciated.
@FOUCHFABS4 жыл бұрын
Do you have any photos? If it's by your stove it may be Grease. If that is the case a poltus would be your best bet. There are a few different combo. Of mixture of poltus, you then spread it on the area and cover it with plastic. Let it set for a day then remove, check and dry area, repeat as many times as needed.

@@laenaszone hard to tell from video. Could be a darker area of stone. You should be able to tell but I can't from video. If it's not the stone that is a large area and I'm afraid there isn't a lot you can do.

@@laenaszone can try to clean it with acetone, and put a pultice over entire dark area to lighten, then reclean and seal. If that doesn't work I think you may be stuck.

We have new Giallo Verona granite that although is smooth, when the undercabinet light shines on if you can see rough looking scratch like marks . Is that normal? Have been told is just part of the granite . I guess I just expected no rough patches . I picked slab for color and movement but didn’t see this in the sun
@FOUCHFABS4 жыл бұрын
It is a natural Stone which means it has pores and fissures so some spots are normal. Also light will reflect from different spots on the stone differently. All that said it could have scratches that aren't natural, idk without seeing.

Is there a way to clean the sealant of a granite countertop? The place where two pieces meet behind my faucet just won't come clean.
@FOUCHFABS3 жыл бұрын
I dont think that would be dealer, probably the epoxy used to put seam together. try a razor blade held flat and move it side to side and see if it comes off. you can use denatured alcohol, or acetone to remove sealer.
@FOUCHFABS3 жыл бұрын
Denatured Alchohol is about the best. Sealer soaks down into the pores, so there is no way to "clean" that. But any surface residue can be cleaned with denatured Alchohol. Hope that helps!

The windex would have been great if the excess dirt was removed first?
@FOUCHFABS3 жыл бұрын
you may be correct. possible if I had cleaned it first the windex would have worked fine. I did however wipe it 3 times with the windex to get the same result I got with soap and water. I will continue to recommend soap and water to my customers.

@@FOUCHFABS you’d be safe on most granites.. but, for example, the pitya white i put in my brother’s house last weekend(got it cheap) was in need of sealing big time. Had you tried using it on his stuff it would’ve been ugly. Regardless these products are designed for their color enhancing qualities.. color modifying properties, in other words. Sealing is a secondary trait of them. Best to stick to water based sealer… Yeah.. they do make dried out, ashy looking granites look nice in most cases. That’s true.
@FOUCHFABS Жыл бұрын
The pitya white is a Terrible stone, so bad example imo. I do understand what your saying. However after testing several differnt sealers side by side most do not do a good job. Which water based sealer are you speaking of? I would be happy to look into it. A lot of people claim a lot of things about differnt products but im more of a guy who has to see it work before im sold. When i tell my customers what a product does i want it to be the truth.
