How To Count Rhythm on Guitar
Counting rhythm can be tricky unless you know exactly what to count. This lesson in how to count rhythm on guitar will help you get started with the basic of understanding rhythm notation.
Once you have this foundation, you can move on to very simple electric or acoustic guitar strumming patterns with whole notes, half notes and quarter notes to play along with your favorite songs.
While I'm not big on teaching student to read melody in standard notation, I put a lot of emphasis on knowing how to read rhythm.

Great lesson! 🤗 I remember this from high school when I played clarinet. We had to learn how to read sheet music. To be honest, I enjoy guitar much more than the clarinet. I found the clarinet to be a bit boring.

I don't know why but this explanation actually made sense and I agree with 1 poster who said your cute and although it doesn't hurt that is not why your a good teacher. I still want to know why measures or bars really matter. Why does blues need 12bars? If 11bars does that become country or bluegrass? 14 jazz? 16 rock? Finally the military-esque uniform confused me. Are you like in the airforce or something? Oh, if you do respond what guitar is in background I really like that.

12 Bars is the form. It's called 12 bar because it has 12 bars. You can have a 16 bar blues as well.

The best recommendation would be to learn as many strumming patterns as possible so you can hear rhythm better. Listen to a lot more acoustic music so you can tune into the guitar. You can tell the different between down and up strums because down strums have more bass while up strums have more treble.
