Unfortunately, I had to stop at 4:44 because the video is useless without hearing how all the settings affect the original sound. Turning the bypass on and off and allowing the viewers to hear the difference would have made this video a lot more useful. But just listening to someone show you what settings they used - a bunch of talking - is not useful.

This was great, the type of videos I want from Cubase. I wish he could have showed a little of the changes in each sound while making those changes. I completely understood, but still.

Glad you enjoyed it! The videos were made to be a certain length so some content had to be cut as well as A/B of every single step. However, on my own channel I have much more detailed sound design videos including a two part series where I synthesize the drums from scratch!

@@VenusTheory That's great, yeah I kinda guessed that. Don't get me wrong, this was really good and Steinberg needs more videos like this one and artists like you to show everyone that with this DAW you can do literally any genre perfectly well. My main concern is the fact that many people don't really trust the in-built plugins Cubase has (I fall into that group too) so it's nice to know that the actual quality of the plugins is good.

I almost left from v7 and when i tried 9 - with GA I was floored. Now I'm in Pro and I'm blown away with the stock plugs. I tried others Reaper, Ptools, Ableton, watched vids of logic, and Cubase was clearly my choice to stick with. Killer daw.

What you don’t have is physical modeling, linear FM, or wave scanning synthesis. Nor additive or even a subtractive with more than one filter in series. Don’t get me wrong Retrologue2 and Padshop2 are awesome but Cubase Pro, even with the addition of Halion, leaves a lot to be desired. Mystic and Spector are broken too... I wish they would fix those like they overhauled all the other plug-ins. Still love Cubase and what I don’t have inside the box I certainly have outside or via 3rd party.

I actually use it somewhat often for sound design work, especially for stuff like direct offline processing or batch normalization as my other DAWs don't feature such things (massive oversight IMO). Plus Cubase has video support and support for different sound formats/surround sound which is great for doing trailer work!

Glad you enjoyed it and it was helpful! Sampler track is pretty underrated! As for the effects at the beginning, I edit using Davinci Resolve which has a basic 3D engine to create shots like that. For more advanced shots, I'll create them using Blender.

After 5 min of Description, still not even played one second of music to demonstrate the settings.... what’s the purpose here?
@VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 4 жыл бұрын
The intro portion is really to cover the basis of what exactly I'm demonstrating and why as well as a fundamental overview of the concept and approach. However you can always skip ahead if you understand the basics! The sounds are also demonstrated within 35 seconds of the video starting 🤷‍♂️
@esklation
@esklation 4 жыл бұрын
Venus Theory Totally understand your approach from the teacher‘s POV (I’ve been teaching myself for over 20 years). It’s just from the students‘ perspective, it would be much easier to follow if the practical „before“ and „after“ or effect of certain settings if you will would be shown directly. It for the rest, great input though!! Definitively learned something!

You say that we can layer. But, Why are you not showing us how to do it? The first two words of the title are "HOW TO". Just saying things are possible while jetting all around, and barely giving us a second to even see which menus (if you show us any) that you go into, makes this solely a promotional video, saying: "HEY, Cubase can also...' ____'!"
