Thanks again, Mr. Holm, for your generous guidance in helping those of us who are stuck inside without seeing a barber. This immensely helps us to maintain some reasonable hair cut until such a time things are back to some normalcy and we can see a barber again. God bless you for doing this, Mr. Holm!!!

Thanks for sharing your useful, straightforward hair cutting/trimming tutorial. I received my clippers the other day so now it’s GO time. I probably will start on a 6 (hair is LONG) and work backwards after I’m over the shock of taking a cutter to my hair! My wife says she’ll gladly cut my hair as long as I sign a waiver relieving her of all liability should I lose an ear or expose too much of my bald spot! 😆 UPDATE: With affidavit in hand, I surrendered the clippers and scissors to my wife. 👩🏼🔬 Following your tutorial she started with a 6 guide for the bottom half and did the top half using an 8 guide and the used the side lever to blend the two halves. Then scissored the top and voila! She did a great job and gave me a better cut than I've ever had. 😀 Thanks again

ok, finally got over the hesitation and tried this method. not horrible on very first ever self-cut...done in my travel trailer of all things. My hair is super fine, and it was very long, so I had to go over and over it to get the clippers through it without just pushing the hair out of the way. Used a #3 on the sides per your side vid, and a #4 on top per your top vid but just for some of the bulk on the side opposite from the part cause I wanted to keep it long on top. Thx for the help!

Michael, I'm 64 and I've never attempted to cut my hair. After weeks of no haircut I was starting to look like someone's mad uncle and social distancing wasn't a problem. So bought a set of Braun clippers (yep, as you say, any decent clippers will do) and watched a pile of videos demonstrating the good the bad and the ugly in home haircuts. Then I chanced on your videos. Great, straightforward, sensible advice and all the moves demonstrated. Watched, the haircut, top of the head and your beard trim videos - yep have one of those too - and then got started. If you are entirely new to this then don't dive for to the no1 or no2 as Michael says. I started with the highest guard setting and it only took one move down until I was getting a really neat cut. Couldn't have been easier and really pleased with the results. Best home haircut and beard trim videos on KZbin IMO. Well done sir!

Wow mate. I was shaking but worked a treat. Both sides and top methods. I played it safe with a 4 for both. The bone at the back of my head is quite pronounced so I struggled to blend the back as well. So used the top method over and over the back, and blended in nicely. @theoneminutebarber4 жыл бұрын
It's going to be hard to do the back with more than one grade yourself. Creating a graduation or a taper. But not impossible. Start with the longest number you have and work down the grades as you suggested would be the easiest way to do it yourself. Just don't go as high as your working down the guards. Rather than passing through the hair vertically as shown in the video, start to peel of at an angle as you work your way down to shorter guards. Good luck. Mike

Thank you. I messed up a bit when I tried clipping my husbands hair last time. He has a few ridges at the side, but can soon rectify that now. I am thinking about doing those with the clippers over comb method I have seen on KZbin tutorials. Hoping it will go well. I am not a hairdresser! Lol! I used an 8 guard clipper over the top part of my husbands hair, but it cut his fringe a bit too short last night. Is it better just to skim it over the top, instead of touching the surface of his scalp? Also, as I can't do a fade, is it ok if I just run the whole of the back of his head and sides with a 3 guard instead? Thank you 😊

@@theoneminutebarber What shall I do if I want the taper to stop lower nearer to the ear, maybe like about 2cm above ear? Can the straight up method create a low taper? I think the straight up method has created a high taper in the video. Thanks
@theoneminutebarber4 жыл бұрын
Jason I would need to make another video on tapering your hair. It can be done but I'd do it using something that is referred to as a C-cut technique. Basically as soon as the blade hits the hair you move slightly higher while dropping down the bottom of the clipper. See my mastering the taper video to get an idea.
