I left a comment recently about being on the last dregs of this narcissistic relationship. Last weekend I planned a small birthday party for my narcissistic granddaughters boyfriend. Two day of cooking and baking. Everything was ready and I waited and waited. I texted, no reply. Never showed. A couple days later she texted wanting a favor. I didn't answer. Three hours later she sent me a smily face. Which came through as looking smug that she had control. I found out next day that she purposely sabotaged the BD and redirected her boyfriend from coming because she didn't want to go when he asked her to come to my apt twice and she refused. That was the straw that broke the camels back. So, I basically was trying to step quietly away, but she was not going to have that. She called her mom, brother, and blew up her boyfriends phone calling all afternoon, night, and morning until he called me and asked for me to please answer because he was getting in trouble at work ( which he should have temporarily blocked her) Anyway, I texted her so save his job and I ended it. I told her you know what you did and I know what you did and I'm not going to condone it. I'm tired of the lies and manipulations. Have a nice life. She said," I won't bother you no more it was an accident." No it wasn't. And, once again, yet another lie. So I'm waiting for the smear campaign 🤔. The good thing is I don't care what people think about me. I stepped away for my own sanity and peace of mind. I'm the only one that can look out for me. And I won't be controlled by fear. My husband and mother were both narcissists. I would like to keep my inner peace for the time I have left. Thanks for your advice.

The smear campaign can be beneficial to others as well. When my mother went around telling all her friends I was mentally ill my godmother wrote to me out of the blue, first time ever. I live in another country to my family and hadn't seen her for years. She didn't mention the smear campaign but I deduced she was curious to see if what she'd been told was true. I replied with general news too, said everything was great etc.... and later I heard from my mother that my godmother, a life-time friend of hers, had "gone all funny on her", and had refused to take her calls. Her husband had told my mother never to contact them again. My mother claimed she'd gone senile. I think she finally woke up.

My point on the smear campaign and closure is: why would I need closure from a liar? If I were to get closure, I would like it to be genuine. There is nothing genuine about a narc. Regarding the smear: I say go nuts, I know who I am and if anyone can not see that there more then one side to the story them I question if I want them in my life. It took me many years to understand this and believe it or not my nar ex helped me fine this in me.

As for me the smear started while we still lived together. Had i not started paying attention i would have ever known it was going on. Reactive abuse had me to the point of breaking dishes while she calmly watched. When i told my therapist what happened she said this was reactive abuse and she was most likely recordinv this and taking pictures. She told me to no longer respond. Between the reactive abuse and the gaslighting for years, i ended up diagnosed with cptsd. She has quickly moved on to the next victim. Good Riddance!

The behaviour that I didn't understand during the relationship continued for me after I ended the relationship. Its only at the point that you discover npd that it all starts to makes sense. They confuse all of your emotions during the relationship by saying they love while their actions show the opposite. Mine continued with the same tactics after I ended the relationship. The thing is the destruction they cause too you is massive while your struggling for answers as to what has and is going on. If your lucky and stumble on information like Paula's, it takes quiet some time for it all to fall in place. All those behaviours that made no sense start to make sense and the jigsaw puzzle of the relationship builds a picture that is pretty traumatising by its self. It was a huge learning curve at a time when I was at my lowest, so the journey was slow, painful and at some points totally debilitating. If this describes any of you going through the journey then try not to be too hard on yourself. One step at a time and its only as you look back that you can see the progress you have made. There is a path out of this madness, just stay on or near that path and it will lead to a peaceful mind and out into the big beautiful world.

My present narcissistic experience is with my coworker. It started off friendly; then the insults and nasty remarks began. Presently, I’m seeking other employment because the business owner suggested I do so because of my “bad attitude”. He is a cowardly individual and has become a flying monkey of this coworker. So now any interaction between me and the narcissistic coworker is her telling me whose ass she kicked and the miracle tasks she performed. She doesn’t seem to care or mind that I’m non-responsive-she just needs me to hear her.

Excellent info. Unfortunately, my narc has alienated my only child (an adult) from me with his smear campaign along with rewarding her for aligning with him against me. He's showered her with money, cars, financial support to buy her a lifestyle she can't afford on her own, allowed bad behaviors on her part to go unchecked, so she has her own smear campaign going against me. She publicly and privately states that I was, as a mother, abusive, neglectful, psychologically imbalanced, etc. This is the one that has torn me down. She refuses any contact, or to listen and believe that her father has manipulated her to align against me in order to exact his revenge on me for finally leaving the horrible marriage. If you have any advice on this type of fallout of the smear campaign, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure there are other narc abuse victims out here who have been affected by this. Perhaps a video on what actions might work to have these loved flying monkeys see what's been done to them by the narcissist would help those of us who cannot just ignore the smear campaign because it has affected a much loved person. Thank you so much for all of your work on this issue. I am trying to rebuild myself, slowly, after a horrific narcissist's abuse and malignant smear campaign. You are spot on! The only characteristics I have that they can not copy is my 1. Creativity and 2. Sense of humour! Plus being creative my mind is always plotting shapes colours silhouettes textures accessories. So I focus most of energy on my designs which sometimes attract a lot of attention and praise which leaves me cold and humbled for having so much fun creating things that others enjoy and admire. I don't charge much because I enjoy the process so much. So they always critisize and condem me for it but I am happy and always have more than I need. I feel so blessed and are so grateful for all my talents. This freaks them out completely.

Yes I have a similar way about myself which many people find disturbing: I have a great musical talent and I use it, but I get just as much joy out of walking in nature, looking after animals and small children, going to church, and homemaking. Narcissists can’t stand people who are grateful just to be alive and grateful for all their talents and gifts. Many people mistakenly believe that creative artists should be obsessive and have one-track minds. I once had a song of mine played on a national radio program, but I tell you I was just as proud when I perfected Julia Child’s omelette aux herbes fines recipe, to eat by myself at home! I try to just be a good example in the world, even though on one hand my life has been ruined by narcs, of a person who appreciates all of God’s blessings and not just the ones that directly benefit my ego!

I needed to do the same , my ex I still do not want to see , any , and all contact is going to be abusive , that is who they truly are . I also habe family events I no longer attend , as I sacrificed plenty , and it's a unacceptable , unfair expectation to expect me to endure anymore , not for anyone , or any reason . That is a very reasonable boundary under the circumstances . It's the devils trick to cause us these conundrums , but it's dangerous to be double minded in these situations . Necassary to acknowledge , and validate ourselves , regular reminders of what we are truly dealing with , a person with a personality disorder that has targeted , and subjected us to they,re abusive tactics deserves , and requires to be avoided, shut out of our lives , and unfortunately that means some dissappointment at times , it isn't fair , but the personality disordered do not play fair that's reality. We have a responsibility to our selves first , and our family to stand , and lead by example . Family get togethers are the hardest for me , as family is the most important thing in the world to me , my ex knows that , and as a true narcissist has done all she can to interfere , but I adapted , created other ocassions with family , it's a adjustment but it's working out . I would perhaps have a evening out with your daughter , and son in law to be , do some bonding , and celebrating with them . Let them see your not being selfish , or inflexible about this simply self care .Lord , God Bless , guide , and comfort you !

Thank you Paula, your videos are amazing. I try to believe that people aren't flying monkey, and 90 % of time they turn out to be monkeys. I learned that when you know theres a smear campaign going around about you, it's best to see any people you're unsure of as monkeys until proven wrong. They are often nice to make you put down your guard. And when you believe they wish you well they do something backstabbing. And then act like they have no idea why you are experiencing the problems they caused you. And are very interested in your feelings to report to the narc of course. The narc may even pay a person to become friends with you, so that they tell them how you feel when they do this or that. Kind of like good cop bad cop method.

I did point out a couple of actual facts to the flying monkey , and stated I had hoped time would help heal , and help the ex come to her senses , but no , and yes it's pointless discussing it . Also pointed out the childish behavior , was not being conducted by me . I resist explaining as much as possible it's only used as fodder . It's not digested, so doesn't nurture , only trampled underfoot. Yes have to go it alone , and eventually it all falls apart on them . Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom , and they have no fear of judgement , nor do they have wisdom . They see , they hear , but it's they,re minds that are blinded . They have the senses but no reason. Been thinking about this my ex has one main flying monkey , been aware of this for some time . Rather than confront them I play along . It's rather amusing at times . The ex , and her flying monkey fail to realize , I am not decieved any longer , and they are in control of nothing . I live my life quitely , recovering nicely . To see all the effort they put in , and for what ? A fantasy , a skit , do they have peace , security, or contentment ? No they went in the wrong direction for that .

Thank you for advise, be your best you👍. Its true, mostly we dont know why they say, when I heard just 2min when he didnt stop the call,.. and started to talked with ppl around. I couldnt belive it! Agess better that we dont know. But sad and also true, you can see how ppl start to look on you differently. So your advise is just what I need. In the end lie cant win, so dont trap yourselfe in beliving them what are telling you and more horrific, what they talk around. Dont forget who you are❣️

I have got on really really well with the Narcs family and friends...but being an Empath there seems to be something that isn`t right...if I bump into one of her friends they don`t seem to be as open and freindly as they used to....at Christmas the Narc didn`t put any Christmas cards out...just wondering if my name was on any of them...I found the Christmas card that I had sent her on Christmas day screwed up and thrown in the trash bin....with another card from her brother that said " our door is always open if you need anything" She actually told me that she wanted to visit her family and friends on her own so I was left all day on my own Christmas day doggie sitting...I walked into her house while she was on the phone speaking to her mother and I overheard her saying to her mother that she is only the person that she has got left...and that she hasn`t got anyone else...Jesus.. When she realised I was in the house she asked her mother at least four times if she wanted to talk to me or not..what was all that about..she just usually passes me the phone to talk to her mother....I honestly do not know what the hell I am doing here...it seems to me there is a negative vibe...BUT...could it be because I have told her that after giving her £28,000 in total and I can`t give her anymore cash.........She has actually said that now I can`t give her any cash we will start and pay for ourselves....WOW..!!! No mention of " can I help you with anything" as far as she is concerned there is no suggestion of offering me any help like a normal couple would do..now it is every man for themselves..FFS..!! She is even going to the Chinese take out for a meal and if I am in the house she is hiding it in her car until I have gone home....( because she does not want me to live with her).... I think it`s about time this bullshit finished...!!!

This is the first time that I disagree with you. I don't believe it's subconscious. Apart from , in my mind, absolving them of responsibility on some level, the manipulation would only work if they are conscious of your triggers. None of their behavior is un calculated. Maybe you would agree that your power is regained when you don't play the game. The question is, I guess, who's game are you playing? Personally I didn't realize I was a piece on a board in the first place

He called me and tried to get me to sleep w him (he’s got new supply). Of course I denied him... two days later he posted his new girlfriend ALL OVER his Instagram. In his stories AND on his timeline. It’s way too soon for that. They’ve been together one month (we’ve been apart one month). Would you say he did that on purpose to get to me? I´ve got someone like that in the family. My mother sadly enough married a person like that 40 years ago. He is not my father, though!The worriyng part is, that this person is still trying to destroy my life, even though I have allready quitt contact with my mother. I don´t know what to do! He is trying to destroy my professional life also. What can we do? Get a lawyer, maybe? I am deadly serious about it! What can we do?

Also, this guy always has a very well thought out strategic plan, whenever he does something. He is like the devils staff. Could it be possible for a Female Narcs new supply be female...? Without it being anything intimate....I have just found out that my Narc partner has suddenly struck up a friendship with a young women who is about 27 year old, my partner the Narc is 52 they apparently met through work and have a hobby in common.The young woman has some problems with her boyfriend and my partner seems to be really overboard in trying to help her and seems really over friendly to this young woman when she speaks to her on the phone...it sounds like when she was love bombing me when we first met... just seems a bit odd to me that this is happening but at the same time it explains a few things.....but I presumed that the new supply would be male...any advice please would help...Thankyou...
