One lesson I’ve come across is that we tend to keep solving the same problems over and over again because that’s what we know how to deal with. When we are in situations that are unfamiliar, we tend to act in a way that recreates past scenarios because we have coping mechanisms fit for those types of problems. This tends to lead to self-sabotage. The only real way to live beyond it is to put it aside and move forward in a different mindset. You described it perfectly, it is a spiral. But you just move to a different paradigm that does not care about your problems…and lead you to a higher and more nuanced state.

yes absolutely.. even though we consciously want to avoid old patterns once we have awareness. the deeply embedded beliefs and reactionary behaviors come from our subconscious and an more deeper core place. I have definitely experienced my fair share of self-sabotage even though consciously it's not what I am seeking. It has been eye-opening to understand there are deeper layers to let go and move forward from. thank you for sharing :)

You are incredibly insightful - all 8 minutes worth! Uncertainty = FEAR! I tend to avoid what is fearful to me and settle for the secure, so I armour myself to overcome the worse case scenario. But whatever I think becomes the self-fulfilling prophecy, and security is unsatisfying. So I must focus on the positive, believe I am worthy, and go for it!

thank you! i think my need for a sense of security has lead to controlling tendencies. Which affects my own mental wellbeing and those around me. When we are uncomfortable within, we try to control external circumstances. So the goal is to walk towards an inner sense of anchor:) been on and still on that joureny.

♥️ Thank you for the inspiring & powerful articulations of wisdom. You are so mellifluous at conveying these contemplations of life & the very paths back to ourself. I truly enjoy your refreshing perspective. 😌🙏🏼 After hearing what you said, What is uncertainty to me?… Uncertainty is a beautiful unpredictable adventure that unravels one page at a time, that shapes the very fragments that play into our ever evolving identities. When I take time to recognize the micro & allow it to flow into my macro I can see a endless playground of possibilities & outcomes to admire, lean into, and calibrate as needed. Uncertainty is gratitude for my present, the laughter & tears remembering the past, and the joy & excitement of the boundless unknown yet to be lived. The forever certainly uncertain that allows me embrace the dance between order & chaos. 💧 Emotion 👉 Mood 👉 Temperament 👉 Personality 👉 Identity 🌊

Centuries ago, St Augustine wrote, "My heart is restless until it rests in Thee." In his youth, St Augustine was EXTREMELY restless in his search for answers and understanding. Many consider his "Confession" to be the first "tell-all" spiritual autobiography.

"The Seven Storey Mountain" by Thomas Merton was hailed on publication in 1948 as "a twentieth-century form of 'The Confessions' of St. Augustine. Merton, a restless and searching intellectual, describes his climb up the mountain much like your description of climbing the spiral staircase wherein we periodically revisit life's challenges---yet continue to ascend and grow in the spiritual life.
