I've had this worrying rattle when cold from my newly rebuilt Z20ET, I was fairly certain it wasn't any of the new parts, so i decided to investigate the balancer shafts... and get RID! Have Fun, Super Ron!

Hello!!! I am just to start the delete process like you have described. My Vectra have a 2.2 16V gas engine and this crank balancer is driving me crazy by this noise from hell... It is like the engine is about to dismount himself but it is this sh1t asking to be launched to the trash. By now I am replacing the cylindwr head gasket that have burned (3x !!!) but now I will put a new metal gasket and it will be great fine. Thanks for this excellent how-to tutorial. Best regards from Brazil!!! 👍🇧🇷

First time I attempted the sump gaskets I got caught out the same, tried to feed the gasket in and thst didn't work so second set from nevlock came, jacked up the engine and put some old brake pads under the mount and job done. Managed to get a cheap leh girdle kit for my let engine, snapped it up quick, otherwise I'd be doing this
@SuperRon2 жыл бұрын
Theres not many girdle kits out there now, and the few left are a fortune!

Nice one mate i use a bit cardboard curled up into a c shape under the oil filter, divert the oil into ur bucket instead of the frame

Top tip - if you can find a Z20XEV ecotec engine (2 litre non turbo) the bottom crank girdle replaces the balancer shaft version and is a fair bit lighter - just need the matching oil pickup pipe as well

Joff turbo nova!! There's a forum name from the past 😮 yes it's used xev set ups people are selling as 'delete kits' for £250+ these days

I think it was about 10feet long. You could adjust the letters to suit. I just left them on the rails as they were.

Clever idea sir. You not worried about the berrings still in the housing coming out?
@SuperRon2 жыл бұрын
No the bearings are a press fit one piece so won't come out. Not like a crank 2 piece bearings. Thanks for watching 😁

Hello super ron, if I use forged rods that doesnt have these caps i dont have to drill the holes right? Just put the empty balancer shaft
@SuperRon3 ай бұрын
Blanking off the oil ways? You still do because they are in the mains caps not the conrod caps.

by removing the balance weights does it damage the engine as I would like to take them off if the car will shake in the cabin without weights, the xev removal sets are very expensive so this video really helped and I see that it is literally the same as when put a set with xev only it is much cheaper
@SuperRon2 жыл бұрын
No, people have been removing them for years without any problems

and how did you grow the crankshaft, which should now be finely balanced

@@SuperRon So I think your work is really cool, I don't do anything on the engine myself. All the other work I do myself, I am also sure that it goes well for a while, better than with the worn balance shafts nevertheless you should balance the crankshaft finely
