I believe the reason why many fail to make progress (not directing this toward anyone) is the misconception of progress rate. Many believe that an experienced artist can whip up a drawing in a matter of seconds and although it may be true, it does not mean one would do that with every drawing. Whenever I draw something, I take my time. Failure to exercise patience will cause someone to neglect, not the knowledge, but to cultivate patience.

Thanks again Mark, super helpful. I wanted to mention, please don't ever hesitate making guidelines or apologizing for doing so. They are EXTREMELY helpful for someone like me who is learning the fundamentals of where to places lines, in a variety of angles. Thanks again man, I'm currently binge watching all your manga people videos and drawing along side you. I can see myself improving, which is very exciting.

if people spent less time posting messages about how they can't draw, they'd probably have more time to actually LEARN what this brilliant guy is trying to teach. I have to say, I really appretiate that you take the time to post these video's, they are quite educational and fun to watch. extra credit for leaving in the bits you re-did, its good for a student to learn to see those mistakes and how to correct them :)

I've been watching your videos for a while now but tonight's the first time I actually sat down with a pad and pencil to follow along to learn something and apply it - definitely seeing results! Thanks so much for making these videos! I've always wanted to be able to draw this kind of stuff and you make learning it easier and comprehensive.

Hello, I'm a new sub, This is my first attempt at drawing a Manga Man. I found this video very helpful. I was drawing along and then you went to time lapse so I am lost. I am going to keep working on the beginning of the drawing that I have now. I wish this could have been done in parts so that I could have continued to follow you step by step, but I do so appreciate that you have this available free of charge so I won't complain. Thank you very much for your help.

you are the only guy who really wants to teach others how to draw manga most of the people do that so fast and in the end you are just confused... basicaly they don´t want to teach you they just want to show how "awsome" they can draw and you really care about us and I want to say thaks for that :D

As I said in a previous comment on your inking video, You the MAN! I like the fact that you erase because it reminds me that you are still human lol! Though you're not erasing because of mistakes, its more of just dimming down your drawing to make it that much more perfect. Jim Lee used to be my favorite artist, but my style of drawing leans more to a manga. Which has made you my favorite artist and you take the time to teach us wannabe's some professional techniques. Thank-you Mark =)

been working on a profile sketches for days but each one was there was something wrong. The face I was trying to draw wasn't overly masculine like the one you were drawing but I wanted to get some tips and just that one line you had to place the ear was like a light bulb going off in my head! Once I started adding that to my own guild lines everything came into place like tetris! Again you've helped me out. If I had the cash I'd get your mastering manga book right now! and the other mangas too

@allrampage95 It depends on what details you are adding. One rule of art I have always heard (and know from experience) is to quit before you think you're done. Then, come back to the picture the next day, and you will be able to tell if you need the extra detail or not.

I gotta say that I love your videos and I find them very helpful and inspiring! I would like to see the same "How to draw a 'realistic' manga face in profile" but a female version!
