you can buy a set of pencils with all the shades you'd need. really light "H" and "F"s for rough drawing and then the "B"s for your definite finished piece. id say get a H or F , a 2B pencil then get a set of ink pens( they're the pens with the little nib at the end that range from sizes 0.5 mm to the point where they are like paint brushes. i once asked the same question and got no reply (no ones fault) so well .....here ya go. oh and gr8 vid mark.

This is awesome! I was wondering if you could, if you have the time, make a hand drawing video some time. Like how to draw a fist and/or a relaxed hand (like when your hand is down by your side). Basically just a few different hand possisions (I think I spelt that wrong). Thanks! BTW: Great art work!
@melancholymistress8915 жыл бұрын
You can pretty much find stock images of anything you can think of. Just type in 'stock' plus a general body or position like 'muscle man' and 'look down'. Or just do a google image search. The only problem with that is that some of the images on google are copy written, therefore you cannot use it without permission.
@Tsurtsurel1214 жыл бұрын
@Mattattackwtf You can do it without boxes.Only that it would take longer.You just have to observe how the anatomy works.I use lines usually.You just start by drawing a stickman and then draw its forms,the curves of the body,shoulders,knees and so on. Mark is just showing one way to draw.There are tons of ways and you can do it your own way. Hope it helped you.

@YukimaruYoshimatsu I'm not sure how old he is, but I remember him saying that he started drawing when he was living in Japan teaching English, around 1991 to 1993, though he said he started getting really serious about it with his "Miki Falls" idea sometime in 2004 to 2005. It's 2011 as I write this, so he's technically been drawing for around 19 to 20 years.
@TMTLive15 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you asked there, but my answer is this: the term anime is usually used for japanese manga-styled cartoons. Manga are comics in which one of the many different manga-ish styles are used. That's just what I think is the difference between manga and anime. And good luck with learning :)
@Broslak13 жыл бұрын
Also guys, if you're confused about tje box sizes, he mentions that they are equal boxes to whatever the head measurement was, though for me to get it right i'd have to draw on A2 paper or something, so far i can onl draw the heads close up

I think he uses a regular HB (#2) pencil to do the sketching and shading. For the dark lines he uses some kind of black pencil I don't know. I use a random black one with a sharp point for the fine lines :) hope it helped

generally for his dark black lines he uses a black Prisma color. For regular sketching/some shading he uses a regular #2 (HB) Ticonderoga. I'm not sure what kind he uses for his red drafting pencil. He usually has what he uses listed on his channel page.

I've learned so much about drawing from watching your videos and I'm half way finished with Miki Falls: Summer. Thank you so much for making your videos to help developing artists like me. I've noticed in most manga, the female body shape is basically the same. If you have time some time in the future, could you make a video about curvier women? I'd like a video with a shota boy...or a bishounen. My drawing style tends to lean away from realistic, which leads me to just guess at proportions where males aren't muscular or big-boned. I think it'd be easier to have some idea of what it should end up like. Or maybe drawing a child's/teen's proportions. I also agree that a video with two people interacting would be useful.

Rodrigo, you just need to start drawing. I don't think it overly matters what you draw. Just practice and be patient.

would be so kind as to do a video on how to show accurate height comparison / differences for realistic human proportions between the two genders I have alot of trouble with this and such a video would be an amazing help if you please
@pai00915 жыл бұрын
Hay Mark, for the rouph guidelines, you could try using an eareasiable colorpencle instead of the Prisma color or a regular pencle. That way the viewers can see the lines and you can ereas them if need be.

i never draw manga lol as u tought me something, i'm gonna teach u a few things too: on the neck u have the sternocleidomastoid muscle (doing like a V on the neck) the muscles next to the neck are called traps, over the shoulders: deltoids, on the front of the arm u have biceps and behind triceps and then in the forearm u have about 20 muscles... (i've studied a bit of anatomy at university)

Well I was just wondering. But accually I think in an early video he mentioned another project with a different style and story direction than Miki Falls has and I think he was talking about Brody's Ghost, I think that it was before this video(well the original version). Mark did say that he had been trying to get Brody's Ghost published for a long time, so I figured he might have used an old character model of Brody for this male character pose/anatomy vid. Sorry my reply is so long, I do that.

@YTavish: iPads are not designed to be an artist's tool. It doesn't have very good software for artists. What you're looking for is a tablet pc which can be pretty expensive. The only tools you really need to become a better artist is pencil and paper. After that it's just practice, practice, practice. Good luck!

@Fe1ion214 жыл бұрын
@inugal321 This is a "tutorial" so he's showing step by step, therefore it's a long video. I'm sure he uses very few guidelines and draws fairly quickly on his own. Yes there are other ways of drawing a body without the use of the box technique. I personally don't use the boxes at all when I draw. Instead I measure the body by the number head lengths. But I guess to be more accurate, the box method seems nice.
@magoruthehedgehog12 жыл бұрын
well, one of my ideas is a fairly simple First Person Shooter game, but with some extra's and stuff... Probably a game in which you can choose to be either a demon or an angle, and you can simply move around the screen (while you can see the back of your character), while fighting enemies (which you see from the front). If you choose the demon the background will be dark and red, as opposed to the angle, wile that way the background is light and cyan. It's just an idea, but i think it's okay!
