Every stroke in breaststroke starts and ends in streamline. The more time you stay in the streamline position, the more you decrease the drag and the resistance that you create. The breathing part is the slowest part of the stroke, so it's important to maximise your time and get into the streamline position quickly to glide.

@FaresKsebati2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Here's a few ideas you can try. 1) You can practice doing pullouts separately - have an entire section of practice dedicated to only pullouts + 1-2 strokes off the wall 2) Try doing several 25s where you add a pullout after every 25 then stop after 1-2 strokes to train after swimming them 3) Practice hypoxic training - try drills where you do 1 pull, 2 kicks or 1 pull, 3 kicks to hold your breath longer during the swim. Hope this helps!

For the pullout when should we do the dolphin kick and Is it possible to do breaststroke kick on the side?
@FaresKsebati2 жыл бұрын
Hi Henry! You can do the dolphin kick at any point during the pullout as long as you only do one. We recommend that you do it either as you bring your arms down or before. Breaststroke kick on your side is hard - it'll turn into more of an eggbeater kick. Hope this helps! :)

You never mentioned late breathing or using a whip kick. Late breathing was demonstrated close by the Guy but the Girl was breathing too early and as a result she came up higher in the water. The higher you come up the less efficient you will be. Whip kick is done with your knees together with the feet only whiping outward to complete the kick the result is slightly less kick distance that results is far less drag but faster turn over because you do not get the long glide the best example of this is Chet Jastremski or Tom Trethewey from the mid 1960's the draw back is Knee problems from the whip kick. Riding a bicycle which will strengthen the knees

Last year I was able to go 1:21 for my 100 breaststroke time but now I can't get anywhere close to that. I'm not sure what's changed since last summer and I would love to be able to get under 1:20. Any suggestions as to why that is?
@NRClips34142 жыл бұрын
Lol that happened to me before. I went a 1:19 a year ago and a couple of months went by and I could never break 20 seconds. 6 months later, I got a 1:11. I think it all comes down to the speed of your tempo, or in other words, the amount of strokes you take per 10 seconds. I was stuck getting 1:22 every single time because I wasn't taking enough strokes, I was always going the exact same pace even though my stroke got better. One way to move faster is by mastering your timing of each movement of breastroke to have it memorized, then every practice try sprinting with good technique. Your turns could also very much be hurting your times.
@emigeorge93152 жыл бұрын
@@NRClips3414 Thank you so much, this is so helpful! Regionals is this Friday and I’m so set on getting a 1:19. Is there anything short term that might be good for getting faster too? Like dry land exercises or drills?
@NRClips34142 жыл бұрын
@@emigeorge9315 I don't really know of any "great" dry land exercises nor drills, but I recommend you watch this video for technique help - m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIfEiaWla8uWe7M . Also, one swimmer I know has decreased his time by 10 seconds recently by practicing breastroke kicking more and doing open turns alot, so that might help close to a meet. Other then that good luck with your regionals👍.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is good at breaststroke about a new form I was trying with it. It was essentially staying as close to the water as you can while not pulling yourself up as much to not have your body create as much as a wall than it normally would. He called it waterbugging. What's you opinion about swimming it like that?
@o.mcnl_2 жыл бұрын
If you watch someone like Adam peaty swim breaststroke, he lifts his chest and upper torso completely out of the water with his pull. As he is the world champ I would assume that that is the best technique; there isn’t much drag as you should curve your torso so the part in the water is mostly flat still and you use the momentum of gravity to help your kick and streamline
@SamFranklin427012 жыл бұрын
@@o.mcnl_ that makes a lot of sense. But my reasoning behind thinking my waterbugging thing would work well is because it wouldn't use your body as a wall. But your definitely right that peaty's form is likely the best one.
@25easystreet2 жыл бұрын
@@SamFranklin42701 Conversely, watch Lydia Jacoby, the 100m gold medalist from Tokyo. She has a completely different stroke but it works for her. Very flat. My son swims it like her and he's super fast. Breaststroke has the most variability, it really depends on what works for you.
