Try jumping from further back then u usually would. keep your eyes on the net, instead of the rim. when u dunk try a 1 foot leap. focus on face at the net. it can help u dunk pretty effortlessly. If u can’t get high enough. try to high knee whichever leg u aren’t jumping off as hard as u can upward. it adds a couple inches of vert.

Absolutely top tier quality man, learned so much! I can't help but overthink my approach so this helped clear the noise in my head. Any advice on how to efficiently incorporate arm swing with the approach? I'm stuck having my arms drive forward prior the driving them back, which I understand to be wasting energy
@Jumpsbychi4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Good to hear. I'm still working through it all. It sounds like you use a pendulum arm swing motion. I wouldn't say it's inefficient but I haven't seen your jump. Isaiah Rivera also uses a pendulum and he is definitely one of the highest jumpers and best dunkers right now. I think of a lot of things by breaking down the jump. I would start with a one step jump, with arms back and swing them forward with your block foot (last foot contact) into the jump, then work back to two steps (just your plant and block foot), etc. Not usually something I would think must be fixed though.

Yo Chi I have been designing a program for myself and have been struggling wuth volume. Do you have any advice for how many exercises I should program into 1 workout?
@Jumpsbychi4 жыл бұрын
I'm not very knowledgeable on programming yet but volume will definitely vary based on the day, your experience/type of exercises as well as when you are planning to peak your explosive performance. Very very generally I would say 10-15. Could be way less some days. But there is a lot that goes into it. If you can find an S&C coach to ask, I'd try that.

So if I understand correctly, you need to increase the distance of your penultimate to jump more higher right ? As a Right left jumper i think I don't cover a lot of ground with my penultimate. Any exercise how to increase it ?
@Jumpsbychi4 жыл бұрын
Yes a good penultimate step will maintain speed from approach through your jump and lower your center of gravity. It's not the longer the better necessarily though. Start with a two step approach (Right then left) at increasing distances from the rim. Might help you get a feel for what you want to achieve
@param92543 жыл бұрын
Please tell how I can increase my vertical jump ...
Nice video Chi. Do you have any thoughts on how long your penultimate stride should be relative to your height?
@Jumpsbychi4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'm not sure. I think it would be more a factor of the speed you comfortably carry in your approach and how hard you push into your penultimate stride. I wouldn't necessarily think of it like, "I'm x tall so it has to be x distance."

Great vid! Though I still have a problem, I don't know how to put my hand it the right position to dunk. In majority it ends up bouncing of the rim or firstly touches the board (I hope it's the proper name in English in my language it's the same as blackboard :v) and falls through the net only bouncing off the board.
@user-tz7tr4mj9o4 жыл бұрын
without the ball, try to touch the rim with 2 inches down your wrist. If u can't to thank just add another couple of inches to ur vert to get ur hand on top of the ball
@Jumpsbychi4 жыл бұрын
If you're comfortably getting high enough to dunk, it's just about minimizing forward movement of the ball and just focusing on the movement of your wrist to guide/push the ball down . If you're not quite getting high enough, I'd suggest going to a height that you can finish at I slightly higher percentage and try and get that down. Either way, it will come with reps, reps, reps.

How do I start learning to plant R L, I get more than when I plant L R and I do it wrong, so is there any tips and techniques you can give because it's hard to do it as I have LR plant muscle memory
@Jumpsbychi4 жыл бұрын
Start with a 1 step (Only your left foot moving into the jump), then 2 step. On the 2 step focus on the push from your left leg. Keep torso more or less upright. Don't reach with your right foot. That's were I started when learning RL. I'll make a video on it soon.

Haven't done much one foot jumping outside of track & field but I would treat left foot jump like a LR jump and right foot jump like RL jump in terms of the side of the hoop where I start my approach. The approach would probably be more linear as well. Definitely a lot of things to explore. Maybe in a future video.
