Ah yes the age old question. I get sooo many dm's and comments asking 'how do I know if I'm gay or bi' or 'how do I know if I'm bi or a lesbian' so ya girl decided to do an updated video on how to figure out your sexuality, how to figure out whether you're bisexual or a lesbian! I also dive into why some people come out as bisexual before realising their true sexuality and why it is seen as the 'gateway' or 'just a phase' sexuality. I chat about how it's possible for lesbians to find men attractive without wanting to date them + so much more. I'm a lesbian who figured out last year during quarantine that I was actually gay and not bi as I'd previously believed, after struggling with it for quite a long time. Everyone's journey is different, everyone's feelings are valid, and it's not a race to figure things out. I promise there's no time limit and it's never too late, I realised at 33. I think teenagers and younger adults now feel such pressure to know exactly who they are right away and find a label that fits for the rest of their lives, I wish I could tell all of them that they have all the time in the world to work these things out and that they WILL get there.

I used to think I liked men a lot, before I realized I liked girls, I used to simply assume I would also like men sexually eventually. Your sexuality is just something you either know, or will slowly notice over time. Whether you notice you don't like girls, or really like boys, visa versa, or maybe you don't like any gender at all! Or maybe you like all the genders. Some people say it takes some experiments with the genders, it's all personal. Growing up I knew I liked boys, as I got older I noticed I could see myself with a girl too, so I assumed I was bi sexual. Time goes on, I meet a man that is transitioning to a woman, as that is who he was inside. And I dated him, as a her. And I then realized, that I love all kind of people. I am pan sexual. As I say, "hearts not parts". Il love anyone that has a good heart. Sexuality is a very personal thing that in my opinion does not need to be labeled. People are people and love is love.

I went for years thinking there was no way I could be Bi or Lebian cause I love makeup and clothes and I'm pretty feminine as an individual and I've always found boys 'attractive', and then every now and then at work a girl would come in and I would be so weirdly attracted to them and it took me ages to figure out I was attracted to these girls the same way I was guys. It really is, I feel like there's a society thing that tells you that you have to be masculine or on the fine line of both but if your girly then your just straight.. and I think thats another thing to come to terms with that everyone is different, Some people are more girly then others and that doesn't make you any less valid then anyone else that is more masculine

This was how my life has been. My whole relationship with sexuality was however, messed up by an abusive relationship with a friend. I wasn’t sure what I was or who I liked, and she forced me into a place I wasn’t ready for. All together, when I got out of the relationship, I decided I was straight and even though I was strongly attracted to females, had whole fantasies with them, and what not, I still pushed the fact that I was straight. I did that for years. Until one day, I was listing to a song ‘Little Miss Perfect’ and it hit me, that was what I was like. I let myself picture everything beautiful with a girl, instead of forcing a guy in the picture, and I was brought to tear by how much I connected to it. I haven’t been able to think straight since, but my internalized homophobia is really bad. I’m also religious, so this little voice in the back of my mind keeping telling me I’m going to hell. I’m not sure if I’m lesbian or bi or what, but right now queer feels the most safe.

I'm lesbian, but I started as bisexual. I think it didn't help me realize i was lesbian and not bi because I was dating a guy when I realized I liked girls. I was also scared of the word lesbian at first. when I finally accepted it and broke up with my boyfriend, I couldn't say that I was lesbian, and instead told him I only like girls. For all my fellow bisexuals questioning if you're lesbian gay or whatever I read something that might help: As Dutchy said it's possible to find people of the opposite gender attractive even if you're gay or lesbian (or whatever). Same goes for fictional characters and celebrities as they're people you probably won't get into a relationship with either way. So you can for example still be lesbian while finding a male celebrity is attractive. "Attraction" to fictional characters or celebrities of the opposite gender therefore doesn't really "coun't". I hope you can understand what I am trying to say with this. I personally haven't figured out yet if I'm lesbian an or bisexual but this seemed to help me at least a little bit. Maybe this will help you too and don't worry if you're not sure abt your sexuality yet or don't want to lable yourself. No one should put unnecessary pressure on you since it can be hard to find out. This is very good advice. Realising that there's a difference between finding someone attractive and being attracted TO them is one of the main things that helped me realise I'm a lesbian and not bisexual last year, along with realising I'd only ever been "attracted" to male celebrities and couldn't recall an instance of being genuinely attracted to a man in real life. Figuring this stuff out isn't easy and wherever you are in your journey, you'll get there eventually. No rush ❤️

The best thing I have read about being a lesbian is that you can find men attractive and can even have sexual fantasies about them but it is just a fantasy. I didn't even know I wasn't straight until earlier this year when I realized that my "girl crushes" were actually regular crushes but on girls and my "crushes" on guys were fully platonic with only one exception. There's only one guy I ever truly felt attracted to (and what's weird is he's a traditionally masculine guy, I'm primarily attracted to feminine women). I like the way you went into detail explaining that sexuality isn't absolute. A good comparison is that I'm still a lesbian in the same way dropping a single packet of Kool-Aid mixture into Lake Michigan doesn't suddenly make it a lake of Kool-Aid.

Over the pandemic I figured out a lot about myself, before I refused to believe I did have any kind of attraction towards guys and that I am a full on lesbian, now I still know I am gay but have accepted that I can still think guys are attractive. But on top of that, I’m not sure if I really should decide just yet because I haven’t seen many people over quarantine... This still really helps because I didn’t know if it was just me or not.

GenderFluid is another term I've heard. I identify as a woman who loves women. I can find attraction in other people, but it's women with who I feel a deeper, better kind of attraction, like wanting to get to know everything about that person, and sharing my life with them. I don't dislike men, but my experience with them has not been the same. I've had gender fluid life, but choose the Lesbian life, because I feel more authentic as a woman who loves women. I have never been in a relationship, never even kissed anyone. And honestly trying to label myself is so confusing. I have no idea what I like, I can't imagine having a real marriage with a guy, but I can't do that either with a girl. those just feel so far away from where I am now. I think that maybe sometimes trying to give yourself a label is more stressing than freeing. I'm AFAB and I've been questioning my sexuality for a while. I always question if I'm lesbian or not. I have dated guys and girls, have male and female celebrity/fictional crushes and but barely ever feel attraction to men. There have been times where I've gotten close to fully identifying as lesbian but then I think "if I were to ever meet a guy with this trait, feature, etc then I would like like them." Normally the traits, personality types, features, etc are from fictional/celebrity men that I like. I never imagine myself marrying a man or having kids with a guy but I do think of dating men. I don't enjoy the thought of sexual stuff with men unless they are submissive (which is kinda a whole different topic). I often think of dating, marrying, and having sex with girls. When I think I have a crush on a guy I never interact with them but when I think I like a girl I have confidence to talk to her and stuff. All of this is confusing lol sorry
