Gene! I gotta thank you for this one, I didn't believe in chatter bait but got on based on your video and it worked just like you showed it here. I fished the same type of water, rigged it the same way and even used the same action you described and nailed a big one in a part of my favorite lake I never caught fish before..thank you so much for all the help with my new found love of fishing.

This is going to be my first year using the chatterbait. I always just skipped over it and stayed with things I was more comfortable with that could do the same job. So this year I made myself order two of them and I'm going to try to fish them and use them as another comfort bait. Thank you.

Gene, I have caught 95 percent of my big bas this season with a chatterbait. I have boxes of jigs that never saw the water this year because I was doing so well with it. And I agree about the rod. I use a moderate crankbait rod. I never lose fish and they eat it better. Great video!

Same here about not wanting to jump on the bandwagon. I bought 3 at $5 a pop (black & blue, white and the brown which you showed). I didn't have any luck with them until I used them like a jig. Bumping the bottom with a little pop here and there and amazingly I caught my biggest trophy bass this year on it (9.2lbs). But it feels good to know that I was fishing it the right way from watching this video. Great video & GO DAWGS!

@deweylee24496 жыл бұрын
Great video in the chatterbait. I don't want to come off as a peta type person but have you thought about using a net on the larger fish. A larger fish especially if its egg laden carries more weight than and causes more damage to a fish we rarely see after release. Please Gene im not trying to be critical of you videos. You provide excellent information and content to help fisherman catch more bass. As a great role model and teacher though please show people that its better to try and land a fish with as least contact with the deck as possible. Just like MAJOR LEAGUE FISHING is promoting now. Anyhow Gene you are a great professor for helping less experienced anglers and greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work.

I've fished chatterbiats ever since they came out. Put a swimbait on the back of them too. No one else liked them. I've won a lot of money on them. People's biggest mistake is only using them around grass is the spring. A spinnerbait used to be my favorite all year all around lure, the chatter has taken its place. It catches giant bass very late in the year before dead winter and very early in the year.

(old video I know) but one of these days, can you review your idea of water clarity? I live in Ocala Fl where I grew up on the Rainbow river and Silver Springs River, and the Withlacoochie, the water goes from 50ft visibility to 0 visibility, and so my perception of clear to muddy with bait color is a bit skewed.

Hey flukemaster, loved the video as always! I have got a question I live in a Georgia, Gwinnett county to be exact and I was fishing a jig today with a trailer on a small pond and these bass were ATTACTING IT!!! I mean every cast a bass would bite, but they would always come off. And I know it was a fish but don't know why the bass kept coming off, could you tell me why? Also one more question they seemed to fight a lot harder today is there a reason why?

Nice video, I never had too much confidence in a chatterbait though, I'm more of a ole spinnerbait kind of guy myself. On the side note, what kind of kayak you got there? Is it a hobie? Later on, it would be cool if you did a review on that too. I've been thinking about making videos on kayak bass/crappie videos since I've won some tournaments with one on Lake Weiss. I would be doing the helpful tip videos like you do but through the perspective of a kayak fisherman i guess. Keep up the good work though
