This was wonderful, I used this to fix my daughter’s dance dress. She’s 12 & wears a 32 DD in the chest-but is TINY everywhere else. Her off the shoulder dress had the exact gaping you showed us.I thought darts but because it has boning -everywhere I thought about putting in a dark looked “off”. This made more sense and didn’t effect the boning. Thank you so much !! I’m just a mom and sewing is NOT one of my skills but your video was so straightforward that even I could duplicate it. That speaks volumes

(Linda). Hi Brenda, great video! I don't sew wedding gowns, but love to watch what you do. I do sew, but regular dresses - still in a low intermediate level. I was curious, as you lined up the new sewing line when taking it in, the top no longer matches, do you just leave it like that and put cut out designs on it? Or do you level it, but then you would have to take off the bias binding (if there is) at the top? thank you !
@BridalSewing21 күн бұрын
@@onglesnailz5039 welcome!! ♥️ It honestly depends on the dress, but I typically just level it off in a finished way that matches the original design as much as possible.

I'm curious if you can do a tutorial pertaining to plus size bridal dresses and figuring out the proper fit for more curvier girls who might have a large chest or common problem areas when altering for larger bodies. I can't seem to find blogs or any info online that pertains to this. I was recently commissioned to do a plussize wedding dress from a close friend.
@BridalSewing6 жыл бұрын
Alex Yarally this vid is def helpful for a plus size fitting. This is very common for plus size girls. The most prominent rule of thumb for fitting plus size is that it usually takes more fittings, because as the dress is fitted, the body mass/shape begins to shift due to the new pressures. So, just be patient with yourself and notify the bride that fitting the body of the gown may often take as many as 4 fittings.

great tutorial! Wondering tho if you have another video on how to fix the bust portion of a corset? I have a couple fancy dancy corsets (with some big ole boning and strong too), and altho the bodice is pretty much perfect, my breasts don't quite fit in the bust area. I need to fix them properly, but am unsure on how to do it correctly. So, DO you have a video for that or could you direct me to one? All the ones I keep finding are for the foam cups or making a corset all together. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Keep up the great vids!

Hi, Question, what if the dress had that stiff upper edge running underneath the arms? That’s where my bride “wings “ out. I have already taken up the appliqué at the hem so she can wear her sneakers now the bust looks horrible. Should I angle the bone as well?
@BridalSewing6 жыл бұрын
Eliana Argiro i often have to shorten and tip forward the angle of the boning. The stiff bodice edge under the arms is usually just from layers of fabric. You may still just need to dart the bust. I still have to do that quite often. This type of side seam adjustment is not a fix-all, but rather, just one more thing to have in your arsenal. I need to do a bust dart vid! But, it is not very complicated.

what if the back really dips down and after taking up, the side seams at the top dont match, and to blend you cant lower the front side seam....what I did was to add a piece to raise the back to meet the front side seam..quite the job with lace and beads...
@BridalSewing3 жыл бұрын
Yes, sometimes you have to do that. & sometimes you have to take it up more in the front than the back.

@CeNadraz2 жыл бұрын
I have a dress like this that I will alter. The cups are big and pointy compare to the breast size. So the dress sticks out a lot at the front. So far I only pinned the front cups and also had to pin the sides as it was slightly to big around as well.
