Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S3. Press and hold down the “Power” button, “Home” button, and the “Volume Up” button. Wait for your phone to vibrate, then release only the “Power” button. Wait for the Android System Recovery screen to appear, then release the “Home” and “Volume Up” keys. Press the “Volume Down” button until the “Wipe data / factory reset” option is highlighted. Press the “Power” key to select the option. Press the “Volume Down” button until “Delete all user data” is highlighted. Press the “Power” button once again to select the option. Your phone will then perform the reset process and display “Reboot system now” when complete. Press the “Power” key to select the reboot option and complete the master reset.

Just want to let the others here who have commented or are reading and they think this technique doesn't seem to work, different phones have different ways of accessing that menu. Try any of these (disregard the model): On Nexus One, press and hold the power button and trackball. On Nexus S, press and hold the volume-up and power buttons. On Galaxy Nexus, press and hold volume-up, volume-down and power buttons. On Nexus 4, press and hold volume-down and power buttons. On Nexus 7, press and hold volume-down and power buttons. On Nexus 10, press and hold volume-up, volume-down and power buttons. Also, some phones have custom roms built and this menu may have been altered or disabled.

plasmakong, your solution worked on my Galaxy Tab A. Hold down POWER, VOLUME UP and HOME buttons at the same time until the little android dude comes up with 'installing update'. After 20 seconds or so it changes with the android dude fallen over with a red hazard sign. Press power button and the menu comes up. Using volume buttons, scroll down to delete cache, click power button, then scroll up to reboot system, again with volume buttons and click power button. takes about 30 seconds and the tablet will restart. Please note, no apps or anything are lost. So far so good.

okay although my phone didn't go into "safe mode" following these steps exactly, this did get my phone to get out of the booting loop! My phone was stuck in black screen mode after it had died. It wouldn't charge or turn on at all using different adapters and charging cables . So from another video I learned that instead of trying to use a fast charging adapter and doing these steps, just plug the USB cable directly into a computer or USB charging station and then it should be able to reset/get out of a boot loop using this video's steps. I have have two identical phones, and one battery that is flawed. the batter will not except the charge. whatever phone it is in, will boot but as soon as it shows the battery charging symbol it restarts. it is possible you have a bad battery like I do.

Once it showed its logo (SAMSUNG) unhold the power button while still holding the Up Button...that way it will redirect you for Factory Reset or what they call Custom Recovery....

If you're using a GT-S6810 , press [Volume Up+Power+Home screen button]. If wiping the cache doesn't work (didn't work for me), you'll unfortunately have to select the 'wipe data' option. That sorted the problem for me. It's quite a job setting everything up on the phone again but luckily I regularly transfer everything from the phone to my PC, so I didn't lose much.

In the video you say to hold the volume up button and power button, but it should be to hold the volume down button and the power button. Holding the volume up and power will make it reboot.

Great thanks. My Samsung SGH-T599N kept rebooting and wouldn't boot up. I did your reset but I had to hold down the home page button along with the up volume and power button to get to the reboot screen but it worked. yea !

to all those saying doesn't work. Try pressing the volume up button and the off button at the same time. Then let go of the volume button when the screen turns off while continuing to hold the power button warning try charging to full battery then restarting b4 you try this technique. you might not have to reset your phone

It's definitely helpful and it's works, but when you choose wipe data factory reset it will erase all the data from your phone. Sometimes when the data is important it's enough just to wipe cache partition. It helps too. And only if it didn't helped only then erase all the data from the device

This certainly helped. Haven't used a Samsung device in quite a while since I got my Nexus, but my new Tab S got in a bootloop after installing a kernel. Used this method and did a reinstall of CM12.

just before few hours, I had restart my SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 4 as I found it was working quite slow. But just after clicking restart button by tab is not being able to do anything (just icon SAMSUNG appearing), I tried to rebook as you had said but couldn't go to next level by pressing power button and volume-up button. Today my Galaxy S5 re-started while I was using it, and it just kept restarting and re-starting over and over. The same thing happened Monday but it fixed by itself. I tried following your instructions, but it doesn't work at all. My phone wont turn off unless it's plugged in to the charger and I can only use it when it's plugged in. I did the factory reset hoping it would fix the problem but nothing changed... As soon as I unplug my phone it goes back to re-starting. Is there another way to fix this problem? My Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 was stuck in a reboot loop and I noticed that Google Play Services was updating while it was doing so. After each reboot, there was a small window in between wherein the device worked (like 30 seconds), and that eventually allowed Google Play Services to fully update. Once it was done, the problem vanished.

Please help! I tried to unroot my s4, so I followed the steps on Google and tried to unroot my s4 using ES file explorer, & then I must've accidently deleted something of the file system.. I have a odd problem I have a Galaxy S5 (T-Mobile). Lately it randomly reboots periodically, but only when the phone is not in use. I could be on my phone for hours and once I set it down it could be a few minutes or 15 minutes and it will reboot. And then it could happen again frequently. I have tried everything I could think of. Clear Cache, Factory Reset, Safe Mode, New Battery, Remove external SD card for a while. Nothing seems to stop this bug. I almost wouldn't mind, but a reboot drains the phone a little and I use it for an alarm and I am paranoid that it will reboot when my alarm is supposed to go off. Any ideas?
