yeah, it's like sending Kyle Reese back to the past to stop Judgement Day, it can't work, 'cause if it did,,, he wouldn't get sent back to stop it. Time travel to prevent events just doesn't work,,, that's why I liked T3,, they couldn't stop the future,, That's why ALL reboots suck,,, wet, salty, dog's balls.

I’m from the future, the year 2019 to be exact. James Cameron returned to the franchise and brought Linda Hamilton back but had John Connor killed off in the newest movie to make room for this random female character to be the new leader of the Resistance against an artificial intelligence that isn’t Skynet. They should’ve listened to Nick Mundy.

I've really grown to love Nick Mundy - for me, he's become a very iconic part of the Screen Junkies show. He's struck a great balance between his fun and relatable angry-fanboy-rage shtick and a genuinely good, well thought-out movie-critic's perspective. I don't always agree with him (or any other critic, for that matter), but I find myself agreeing with his rationale more and more, and consistently appreciate his essential contribution to the show. Thanks for sticking around, Nick!

There's a couple of scenes that could've been added to Terminator Genesys which could've helped to solve a lot of confusion: 1. A time travelling orb shows that something was sent back in time during the Resistance raid in the beginning of the film. 2. Skynet was the one who activated a bunch of T-800 to ambush the Resistance when they show up. One T-800 was sent back in time. 3. When Kyle Reese was sent back in time, the T-800s ambushes the Resistance soldiers. And they have a small fight between them all. 4. One T-1000 prototype appeared during the chaos, the T-800s acting as diversion against the Resistance as they try and send themselves back in time. 5. One T-1000 was set for 1995 but in the chaos it was sent to May 11, 1984 where Kyle Reese was sent but a few minutes earlier. 6. John Connor suddenly have different flashbacks. 7. One T-800 model was left in the container and it resembles the Terminator from T2, it was not activated. 8. John reprogrammed it and decided to sent it to 1974 based on his new flashbacks. 9. Nanobot Matt Smith was then revealed in the crowd and started attacking everyone, including John. 10. After Nanobot Matt Smith defeated all the Resistance, it reactivated another T-1000 and sent it to 1974. And just fanservice, at the end John was sent back to the future. This time, he is in control of the nanobots and is free of Skynet's control. The quantum field knocked out the nanobot's link to Skynet due to being crude.
@maciejkowalski2759
@maciejkowalski2759 9 жыл бұрын
hunterkiller1440 Nice try, but why would John send a T800 to 1974 BEFORE nanobot Matt Smith did the same with the T-1000? How would he know that Sarah in 1974 needs protection before the evil Terminator is even sent?
@maciejkowalski2759
@maciejkowalski2759 9 жыл бұрын
hunterkiller1440 Also, I THINK (but i'm not sure, since it isn't directly explained in the movie) that the T-1000 that they fight in 1984 is actually the same T-1000 which was sent to kill Sarah in 1974. They've just been somehow hiding from him for 10 years and never really got to destroy him. Perhaps he had the same data that the T-800 had, knowing that Kyle will be sent to 1984 so he's been expecting him there, just as the old Arnold's been expecting young Arnold at the Griffith Observatory.
@hunterkiller1440
@hunterkiller1440 9 жыл бұрын
Maciej Kowalski *Based on his new flashbacks of what his mother told him.* But my suggestions/thougts were wrong, there was only one T-1000 according to the makers. This was actually an old idea, in my current version, I rewrote it with just one T-1000 instead that was sent back to 1974 in the chaos. Then, Connor sent the T-800 from 1995 to 1974.
@maciejkowalski2759
@maciejkowalski2759 9 жыл бұрын
hunterkiller1440 Yes, that would make more sense, but the makers ruin that possibility showing us John being 'infected' by Skynet DIRECTLY after (or even during) sending Kyle back to 1984, so they close the possibility of John being able to send ANYTHING back after that moment. Therefore we still have no idea who could have sent these other Terminators. There is no Kate Brewster in this universe, so it really doesn't add up.
@maciejkowalski2759
@maciejkowalski2759 9 жыл бұрын
Maciej Kowalski I guess the only person that could have sent T800 to 1974 was Sarah herself. In a similar fashion that John in the original timeline knows that one day there will come a moment, when he will be forced to send back Kyle to protect his mother from the T800 and (by the way) ensure his own birth, Sarah would also know that she must send back this T800 because there is no possibility that anybody else can do it. But if so, then Judgment Day was never really stopped, because if the T1000 is sent simultaneously to 1974, it means that Skynet eventually did develop these Terminators, so we're probably in for a sequel or two...

Whether this is an upopular opinion or not, I think The Terminator is a superior film to Terminator 2. Not to say the latter is not fantastic, I just feel Terminator 1 is a darker, much more menacing sci-fi

T1 is not only Sci-Fi but was also at the time, part of a new genre called Tech Noir which included Bladerunner. Tech Noir was the name of the nightclub where Kyle Reece and Sarah Connor first meet. Btw, I also prefer T1 to T2.

He's indeed like the angry opinionated relative. Nick is often arguing two conflicting opposites just to disagree with everyone.You're mistaking brilliant for terribly annoying. Just so we're clear, Nick Mundy tried to argue that Interstellar sucked because it was both too stupid AND too high-brow at the same time. He also tried to make the argument that Hans Zimmer can't do music (by suggesting they should've gone with Aerosmith or something).

Why can't people reboot movies that need to be rebooted? Such as... Daredevil, Blues Brothers 2000 (okay that might not work very well), the Great Dictator (except instead of Hitler it should be a bit more modernized(or just call it the Great Dictator 2 (or the Not So Great Dictator)), Golden Eye (Oh wait I think they sort/kind of did that with Skyfall), Clue (with the original ending 4), Creature from the Black Lagoon (I haven't found a single reboot of it so far), and finally [insert any horror movie from the Golden Age of horror here].
@kkentertainment5279

Daredevil is getting a netflix series, and most of the universal monster movies are getting rebooted into a cinematic universe, which at first would seem awesome, but then you see that they will be pg13 and that dracula untold is the start of this, which means dracula has been f*cked up once again, but at least it isn't as bad as dracula 2000.

I think James Cameron should come back for at least one more Terminator film, one to complete the original movie story arc that started with The Terminator and continued with T2. Films are better in trilogies than just being in a two movie set, and a part of T2 was not addressed - the T-800's hand that got stuck in the gears. Obviously someone would find it, and then set in chain the events leading to Judgement Day… again. T-3 may not be a good film, but the ending was right - that Judgement Day was inevitable. James Cameron should make an official third film that brings his Terminator story full circle - with the last scene having Kyle Reese being sent back in time for the events of T1.

Reboots have mostly been unnecessary money grabbers that were only created because Hollywood can't let creative writers think up fresh and interesting franchises. Only a handful of reboots have truly been worthwhile. Prime examples are Batman Begins, Rise of the Apes, Star Trek (mainly cause their previous instalments were crap). Then there are some franchises that are crying for a reboot. Fantastic Four, Green Lantern, I'm looking at you two. Now, I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt T5 will be a necessary reboot. It might be entertaining, but not worthwhile.
@CabhanListis
@CabhanListis 10 жыл бұрын
"only created because Hollywood can't let creative writers think up fresh and interesting franchises" No. Reboots (and sequels) are a safe investment for the studios. They do bring in money, which the studios need to continue making movies. If the studios didn't use them, then they would have a lot less money, which means a lot less of those big-budget pictures we want. The writers have no trouble selling fresh scripts, and in fact, companies like Paramount have optioned and bought countless original scripts over the decades. This was particularly useful when the script writers went on strike. Between those tiring reboots and sequels, the studios mull over the new ideas and throw the dice. They also have to figure out how they'll release them (tv or straight to dvd) as Disney has been experimenting with.

Batman Begins isn't a reboot. It's more or less of a "what if" story about Batman. A true reboot would be their including all of the characters in their former glory, but with different actors, directors, effects, and plot lines. Batman begins is NOT a reboot of the original Batman series.
@CabhanListis
@CabhanListis 10 жыл бұрын
***** I can't support your claim it's not a reboot. From definitions of the term to interviews and reports. I can't find anything that (explicitly or not) denies it's a reboot. All the sources I've seen call it a reboot and the meaning of the word 'reboot' supports calling it a reboot. Where do you get your version of "true reboot"? Because I don't see it. Otherwise, you're on your own with that one.
@badxhero2097
@badxhero2097 10 жыл бұрын
Cabhan Listis I never said you had to support it. All you have to is acknowledge that it's not a reboot. I don't know what you call a reboot or what sources that you have read but it's not a reboot of the actual Batman series. Batman Begins is only Nolan's interpretation of what Batman would be like in an "realistic" world, a world where movie super powered beings and men who are physically enhanced by a drug called Venom don't exist. Meaning, it's not a reboot. Since a reboot would have the characters as they were originally intended to be with different actors playing the characters, as well as an different aim and minor changes to the cinematic world. It would not just a realistic parody of what that franchise would be like if it were real, as Batman Begins is.
@CabhanListis
@CabhanListis 10 жыл бұрын
***** "never said you had to support it." -I know that. What this means is that I can't accept what you say because I can't find any sources to support it. Which means I can't support it. "All you have to is acknowledge that it's not a reboot." -Which I won't because your claim is one I can't support. So far, all we have is your explanation/interpretation. In short, I'm calling you out on it. It's your affirmative case, thus your burden to prove. I don't see how any of your points support your case at all.

Arnold can't act is all I hear... hello? He's playing a robot. Perfect role for him(or anyone who 'can't act'). The story is honestly not bad for a sequel - and it's an interesting way to take his age into account. Nevermind the time paradoxes - you can argue for days about that with ANY time travel movie. The only problem I see is Emilia Clarke and extra cheesy action. I hated her in GoT and I may or may not hate her in this. The action... I'd like it if it was little more gritty and realistic instead of over-the-top Fast Furious 7 and Transformers style action.

+Alejandro Preciado She seems like she's capable from what I've heard and seen of her, but she did seem really miscast as Sarah Connor. I guess it doesn't seem like Linda Hamilton has aged too much since 1991. Actually sometimes she does and sometimes she doesn't, but I agree wholeheartedly on the action portion, which is why I'm somewhat in hope when I hear that Cameron's producing this new one and Tim Miller's directing. Deadpool's tone may have been more cartoonish, but the violence and the way it was directed was still pretty brutal. I think Miller's direction could make it work.

I loved Nick's reaction to the baby terminator suggestion. I'm usually not a fan of people who yell to get their points across, but I've always liked Mundy. As for the hand holding, it's good to see the sexual tension between Mundy and Hal finally get some attention. haha

Yeah, totally agree with the last bullet point; they should have stopped making Terminator movies after the second one. EVERYTHING else that has been made with the Terminator name attached to it (especially the Sarah Connor Chronicles), was shit in comparison. And I have zero doubt Genisys will be any different...

elbryan9 Good quality do not equate with good ratings. eg Two and a Half Men is a crap but popular show. The Michael Bay Transformer movies sell a lot of tickets but are crap.

Applebloom ** Spoiler alert ** So in Season 1, the protagonists realise that Skynet still gets created and that Judgement Day hasn't been prevented so they are back to trying to prevent Skynet from being created. Sarah tracks down a former colleague of Miles Dyson who has created a chess playing computer/artificial intelligence that is smart but seems almost emotional and irrational at times. Season 2: The AI is obtained by a technology CEO played by Shirley Manson, who is soon revealed to be a T-1001 who ends nurturing the AI. During a flash forward episode, some human resistance members are sent to pick up a package for John Connor which they surprisingly receive from some T-600s and T-800s. They open the package and it turns out to be a T-1000/1001 which is probably the Shirley Manson character. Bad stuff happens. The T-1001 escapes but tells the humans to tell John the answer is "no" - the question was "Will you join us?" Also in one of the episode, Skynet cyberattacks the AI owned by Shirley Manson's character.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with Nick on this one, we don't need more Terminator or more Arnold or more sequel baiting. A new movie with a similar theme could be good but I'm not really expecting that to happen with big companies basically only making sequels and reboots because of the weight of nostalgia that draws people to them.

1) The creators of Terminator should bring in the band Austrian Death Machine to record an original soundtrack for the new movie 2) Since the events at the time of the beginning of the story have been changed, there can potentially be an infinite loop of Terminator movies. Instead of making conventional movies, the creators can delve into experimental film, giving each time cycle its own unique style 3) Turn it into a comedy series 4) Doctor Who/Terminator crossover 5) Take a cue from Power Rangers, when they bring all the Red Rangers and past villains together. Bring every Terminator into a battlefield or building for some type of epic showdown. 6) Hal should learn to be more comfortable with his sexuality 7) Terminator should market glamour dolls

You know the reason people loved 'Days of Future Past'? Not because of the story (though, don't get me wrong, it was amazing), but, the reason we loved it was because of how it took the observations of the bad things noticed by the fans, made a list of all the mistakes from the franchise's past, took them, and made it to where they never happened. They created an alternative from this. A world that the fans have requested to take place for years. They started a new. They got rid of all of there worst plot points, by tossing them down the drain! This is what the Terminator franchise should focus on. Not rebooting it, not alternating the whole story, but, just use the fact of time travel, as DoFP did, to change all the mistakes of the series, and make it of anew. Make it as the world of which all fans have requested for years. Turn the series in the direction it needs to go in. That is all it needs for the franchise... nothing more, nothing complicated... just simply this idea! c:
