Reminds me of a massive charge of hundreds of Wulfen in the final stages of the burning of Prospero. You're not convincing me that it was not a way of getting rid of as many of them as possible, while there were Custodes and Sisters of Silence around to witness Russ "purging" his own Legion of mutants.

I'm still traumatized from the game where one of my friends over the course of a game (we made a tally sheet) saved 66 out of 87 hits against his Wulfen and then of the 21 failed save rolls made 11 FNP. Granted, they died (squad of 5, took 10 wounds in total), but they still killed about 750 points of Ultramarines (in a 2,000 points game) all by themselves in that game.

The original 13th Company wolfen figs were awesome designs, but yeah, the plastics leave a great deal to be desired.

Yes the most obnoxiously good melee units in the entire game of 40k !!!! I wish more space wolves players ran these. I find them much more deadly and annoying to deal with then wolf cavalry. Many players say these aren't good units but i just think most players want easy to use units.

I've no idea why anyone would run any Space Wolf melee units except these (and characters). My friend runs 2 units of 7 with Arjac and a thunderhammer/stormshield Wolf Lord in a Stormwolf each and they are bloody annoying to deal with.

@@linkofvev i think alot of space wolves players dont like how hard it is to use these guys. Having Cavalry is just easier to use. These guys require a bit of finesse to get down the field without getting shot up. My friend runs 3 units of 5 wulfen with hammers and shields every single game. Unless you have a ton of volume. He will just walk you down and beat everything up. I have a feeling space wolves are going to jump up a few tiers with this P.A The fact that they can shoot moderately well "especially long fangz units" and now can use flying transports as smite screens etc . wulfen now cant be screened out and with a pile in/consolation of 6 inches once they make contact with your front line they can touch and tag anything they want. Ive seen a unit of 6 wulfen murder mortarian 1v1 easily. If someone understands the fight phase well they will be so hard to deal with of you run a elite army with not alot of volume. I play as orks and feel like space wolves are now tailor made to destroy my army with eaz. I cant screen or out maneuver them anymore and cant get enough consistent volume to kill them in the shooting phase. My only options are luckily super smites and 30man unit of boyz charging 1 unit first and then essentially getting traded out for a 6 man unit lol

@@Makarislethal Thunderwolf Cav just feel weaker in all respects though. Their +1 save over the Wulfen is negated by the common use of Storm shields. Their extra speed can be negated due to Wulfen's ability to advance and charge (and then reroll charge rolls). Their extra wound isn't as great as a 5+ feel no pain. And Wulfen can just be put inside a transport on top of that, plus they are generally cheaper, depending on loadout.

It's super easy to get them down the field with cunning of the wolf ....just need to know how to play them....and if u pair them with a wolf priest with a jump pack it's even easier lol

@@linkofvev i dont understand why you are telling me this but yeah, im well aware of exactly those units do. Thats why i said wulfen are better. Cavalry is just more commonly used

People complain that is the Space Wolves are now less viking and more wolf. But I think these are the most viking looking models they have, hammers, axes and shields probably help a lot with that.

Stormwolf + wolf priest with saga of the wolkin + wulfen unit with ss/th. That's one hell of a threat you just can't ignore.

If you bring wolf guard terminators, bring Arjac. He’s stupid durable and gives +1 attacks to wolf guard units.

Matt Downer he would as thunder wolf cav have the wolf guard keyword. He’s just easier to run with terminators as he can teleport in with them. If you could get a unit of TWC and terminators to intersect with him there that could be a devastating blow

I love these guys. I know I'll get laughed at, but I run these with a Blood Claws Stalker pack. My opponent usually ignores the Blood Claws as they are low threat, but come turn 3, if they are among the few remaining units (I suck!), they can catch folk by surprise! Led by a Pack Leader with thunderhammer / stormshield, 4 attacks on a charge and +1 to wound on a damaged target can be clutch. Still dying to use Lone Wolf on him hahah :( If I can complete Beastslayer saga, then the impetuous Claws can really punch above their weight.

they cant use Stormfang, they take up 2 slots each and the minimum unit size of 5 doesnt fit into the carrying capacity of 6 that the stormfang has. everything else is really useful though.

I've been running closer to like, 5-7 hammers plus the pack leader and just put them on the hunt for the deep strike kill

Great Frost axes are pretty good. I usually do two or three with thunder Hammer storm Shields sin against the rest great Frost axes

In a squad of ten I'll run one axe, one ADDITIONAL duel Wolf Claws, and one 'naked'. All the rest in TH/SS. One Frost axe (Cool looking model) One bare hands! meat shield Two with Wold Claws because they SHRED infantry. LOTS of attacks and re-roll damage. Six TH/SS. When I roll all ten that's how I roll'em. I think people really underestimate the Frost Claws.

Wulfen with a WP and RP in a Stormwolf is the way to go. You protect them, drop them off and have the WP/RP both buff and shield the Wulfen while they just TH things to death.

Do wulfen who die to close combat get to attack even if not normally in range ie big unit attacked from the end

Yes they do as they are still apart of the unit. And they attack back as soon as you unit (that killed them) finishes attacking. Not at the end of the fight phase etc

They get to pile in then attack potentially putting them in range to fight. Depends which model you pull from that dies.

Honestly Wulfen are overkill on Tau. Their main struggle is reaching combat effectively and Tau are more than happy to hang back and shoot while you run up the board.

Reminds me of a game that a felt bad for that my squad of wulfen with th+ss and frost axes got into a tau backline and ripped through all his fire warriors and couldn't get past the storm shields...

@@linkofvev 1) they weren't the worst by far. Just the worst SM supplement. 2) spamming anything in your army usually makes you a dick unless you playing competitively.. 3) i play against space wolves more then any other army. They require a bit of finesse but dont die nearly as easy as the internet pretends. Most ppl make crap lists,most battle reps have crap space wolves list. I do hate wulfen but i also play as orks, so i cant be a castling weenie and shoot everything i dislike off the board.

Sorry but Wulfen NEVER shoot their auto launchers at a unit they intend to charge. Why would they?! The opponent will remove the closest models first and might prevent that crucial charge. Since they absolutely erase anything they do charge there is never a scenario where they would spend a cp to hit on 5s with their auto launchers. It would be an utter waste of a cp even assuming someone wasted the points for auto launchers.

WULFEN!!! The ORIGINAL Death Frenzy! Now several units in various armies have that rule.... LAME!!! Rule was to good to NOT copy.
