Michael Lardon wrote a great book on what Dr. Hattfield is talking about called 'Finding Your Zone'. It's a great read and does work if applied right.

He may have been juiced up but reality is that all his competitors of the day were as well and he still reigned supreme . I reckon that for a guy who would have taken steroids for many years getting to 74 is pretty good achievement . Many people can’t get out of their 50s nowdays . Talking of accelerating the bar , well that’s typical of Olympic lifting as well . No acceleration and exploding the movement will result in failure of the lift . People say Olympic lifting is just technique but it requires huge strength to accelerate a bar through the movement while also getting technique 100 percent correct .

I've read a dozen books by doctor squat and even communicated with him a little, but what a lot of people don't know and what he doesn't talk about (much) is that he also used steroids (and learned to use them in Russia) and wrote a book in 1982 called "What Kind and how many," and that's probably why he got prostate cancer and died. He was a genius, but his edge and success was because of steroids.
@Powerathletehq Жыл бұрын
Attributing his success to just "taking steroids" is disingenuous and pretty short sided. There are plenty of people taking drugs that never accomplish what Dr. Hatfield accomplished and does not diminish his contribution to the field of S&C or his place in powerlifting history. And to attribute his death from prostate cancer to steroids is ignorant and gross in the same right.

All the top level powerlifters, strongmen, and really any strength sport athletes use steroids. Most of their advice is still valid. Look at Westside barbell and Louie Simmons, he called for serious use of steroids and yet his system is still genius.
