I shared a room with Fred at the North American Championships in Ontario Canada many years ago and watched him break the world record in the squat at that meet. I I was astounded by this and by his immense knowledge of training which he so generously shared with me that weekend. He was one of the all time greats and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I followed his lifting principles (bought his publications) and attended a seminar (early 80's) he put on.. Also he personally took my calls to help with me with my lifting on a few occasions (made a difference in my lifting). What a rare type of person. He was always helpful and a kind person - I was so appreciative. Definitely missed.

That segment on him denying that he invented the SSB was golden. The greatness of this man was only matched by his humility. Rest in power.

Thank you so much for this interview, this is solid gold and it’s an honour to listen and learn from one of the greats especially getting that back and forth from an interviewer who can relate and understand. Dr Hatfields reputation definitely lives up to the hype and this interview shows that. I love how he learned from Verkhoshansky and his disciple is Josh Bryant it’s like the powerlifting equivalent of Socrates-Plato-Aristotle, perfectly poetic. It’s devastating he’s no longer around to learn from and laugh with but his spirit and name will live on for generations to come that’s for damn sure

200+ episodes of PA Radio. TTMJ book to rival the length and brutality of a Game of Thrones novel. (edited: it wasn't Hatfield that was 5 hrs, it was Incledon) This is my favorite piece of PAHQ/CFFB media I've experienced. Period. I don't know if someone "knew" or what the situation really was, but the tone of this one episode was unlike any other piece of media you guys have published. John spoke *with* and listened to Dr. Hatfield in a way I can only compare to how I spoke with my own grandfather on our front porch swing during our first Mother's Day after my grandmother died. The reverence for his knowledge and words went way beyond rhetoric and entertainment. Maybe I'm reaching, but I felt a sense of urgency, from both people on screen...one to share, one to squeeze out every drop of personality and knowledge possible. it honestly felt like the PAHQ Crew knew there wasn't going to be another opportunity. People helping people. Thanks for helping the masses by sharing. -Mudd
