Each time I share clips from Dr. Gabor Mate, I learn something new. His openness, understanding, and compassion are truly inspiring, and I'm grateful to pass on his insights. It’s eye-opening to realize that often, people who harm others are repeating the pain from their own childhood. Beneath all the hurt and dysfunction, love still exists, but we often don’t see it until it’s too late. We need compassion-for others and for ourselves. Dr. Gabor Mate explains this so clearly, showing us how healing starts by recognizing these patterns. gabormateADHD, #gabormateadhd, #childhoodtrauma, #gabormate, #anxietyandpanicattacks, #parenting

"By love here, I do not mean the emotion.... I mean the capacity to be present with, and understand, and see the other human being as exactly who they are, and to accept them for who they are, and to invite them unconditionally into your presence, exactly the way they are. That is what love actually is." When children do not receive the unconditional positive regard, the child must adapt. The anger will be repressed. Not conscious, automatic. Repressing immune system. Emotions and biology are inseperable in our bodies.

Thank you for sharing this deep insight. 💖 I completely agree-real love is about acceptance and being truly present with others, without judgment. It's so important for children to receive that unconditional support, and when they don’t, it can have lasting effects. Our emotions and bodies are so closely connected. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment. Wishing you peace and healing! 🙏😊

My narcissistic father was my fist bully

I'm really sorry to hear that. It's tough when our closest relationships turn out to be the most challenging. You're not alone in this experience.

I have to point out the slip. First bully, and also, a fist bully. Probably just a typo. But could point to more. Not only mentally, but also physically not there for you. ❤

Although Tim fletcher has similar talking point… but he lacks the inner compassion compares to Gabo Mate..

This is a good explanation, but it doesn't offer a solution on how to heal.

Look within. Stop looking for someone to tell you how to fix yourself. Remember who you are.

Thank you for sharing such an insightful reminder! It’s always important to look inside ourselves and embrace our true selves.

The solution is that there is no solution. You can’t undo what we have all suffered growing up, but recognising that it is there and getting to slowly accepting it is the “solution”

Practice Tara Brach's RAIN. THAT IS THE SOLUTION. Gabor Mate uses this approach to self-healing.

Absolutely, acknowledging our experiences is a important step toward healing. It’s all about embracing the journey and finding peace within it.

Children don't need drugs to make them healthy, they need nutrition appropriate to a human. Whole foods not junk food and watch all the so called diseases disappear.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's so important to promote healthy eating habits for our kids, and your perspective aligns perfectly with that message!

Nutrition is only one part of it though. Like Gabor said, emotional health also plays a huge part. It all connects together, mental spiritual and emotional health. The diseases won’t disappear just from good eating habits.

I ate healthy whole foods. I still "needed meds" as a kid. Still do, as an adult. We need healthy relationships too, to maintain health. Including our relationship with ourselves. It is about all of the inputs, not just the physical fuel. Action is driven by emotions, if emotional wellbeing is not modeled, the physical wellbeing can only ever do so much.

Sorry Gabor, with all yr knowledge, you have failed with yourself and your own children. Since your distorted views on Israel, I have lost interest and respect for you, as, you are spreading lies from your own traumatised projections. What a shame!

I'd rather have a spiritual relationship with the divine, sigma personalities and animals. I'm over people and the BS the carry around with them.

You cannot completely avoid people who are troubling. They are here. Other people are often reflections of ourselves in a way. What kind of behaviors might you be exhibiting yourself to others? Instead of running away and only looking to certain people, you can learn to set boundaries and limit your interactions to those you see as toxic while also working on your own behaviors
