Your Shabbos table is so....Shabbistic!! So welcoming and warm! Love these tips! Every summer I would buy a sunflower each week at the farmers market and it gave such a bright, sunny glow to our home every Shabbos! I am "attempting" to grow my own sunflowers this year but so far my last remaining one sunflower is being attacked by squirrels..... Wishing you and your family a good Shabbos

Thank you for such a relaxing guide to entertaining. The only thing that would make it any better would be to have recipes for your chicken, rice and kugel. I’m a by-the-book kind of gal, and I’m afraid I’d mess things up by guessing.

Oh Marion! This was just splendid! I totally know what you mean about serving pieces being ingrained in your memories of holiday celebrations. My parents amassed a set of Bucellatti silver, piece by piece, through my childhood (including the kiddish cup, candlesticks and hanukiya). They are dear to me. You make a beautiful Shabbat home and are such an inspiration. Much love to you and your family! Great job! M

How do you keep the food warm, or do you just eat it cold? It looks like it would not stay warm very long on glass platters with no lids or coverings. (Enjoy all your videos, btw.) Thanks.

Kay Dixie I wondered this too. Maybe it stays in the oven on a low temp?
@MyJewishMommyLife5 жыл бұрын
I don't have warming trays as I use electricity on shabbat but I keep everything on. metal trays in a very low degree oven and then just plate it right before we eat I also like not having super hot dishes on the table for safety.

Everything looks beautiful! I have a question...do you wash your dishes after dinner? I'm just learning about Shabbat and how to observe it.
@fernanda-livrosbyf39244 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can! I don’t but because my household is interfaith and that makes it easier as I have people that do any type of cleaning on shabbos. But that’s something you can do and you don’t have to worry much, if I’m not wrong, the law doesn’t forbid any cleaning you might have to do, let’s say you spill drinks for a reason, or you accidentally broke something or even stain your tablecloth, any type of cleaning regarding those things is also allowed. To make it easier to explain for my friends I usually divide cleaning into two categories everyday vs urgent, you usually won’t leave dishes for a whole day, it may attract insects, it’s unsanitary or even if you could do it where you live you might still need to do it because you need the plates for other meals through Shabbat right? Therefore it could enter the urgent category. Cleaning you shouldn’t do: sweeping, mopping, vacuum, dusting, the type of cleaning you could have done the day before or do it the next day, you know? Just a tip tho if you’re only starting observing maybe you’re converting or have people in your household that unlike you will not be observing, if that’s the case, like mine is the latter, maybe talk to them and do a trade and do the dishes for every meal on Sunday and ask them to do it while you observe the Shabbat. Why, you might ask? I don’t know, I just have a hard time figuring out that if I have people around that are not observant and can do it, is it really than categorised as urgent or necessary for me to do it, I’m not sure, so I just rather not. Hope this was helpful 😊

In regards to Shabbat, is a person allowed to wash dishes after the meal?
@MyJewishMommyLife4 жыл бұрын
I do! But even for those who follow Shabbat observance more strictly yes you are allowed to do those types of things but you're not meant to deep clean your house for example.
