After uploading our video on how to improve kidney function to avoid dialysis on KZbin, we got dozens of emails and comments regarding fiber with kidney disease. To follow up on that video, Robert talks more about fiber supplementation to improve kidney function and avoid dialysis.
If you haven't already, check out the first video. In this video, Robert talks about the benefits of incorporating acacia fiber into your renal diet. With kidney disease, taking a powder form of fiber is the best option. By using fiber pills, you’re not going to get enough fiber to improve kidney function. The powder form will provide more benefits and help avoid dialysis.
By using a powder form of fiber supplement, you can get up to 20 grams of fiber into your body which can help improve kidney function. Some people with kidney issues go as high as 50 grams of fiber per day. The higher doses of fiber supplementation will work more effectively. However, you should start with small amounts and gradually increase your portion.
Acacia fiber is the best supplemental fiber for kidney disease. A lot of research backs up acacia fiber with strong evidence. To get started, you should aim to incorporate 20 grams of acacia fiber into your renal diet to help improve kidney function. There are a lot of other fiber supplements out there but with all the research we have, acacia fiber is the most effective.
Be mindful to always stay hydrated while taking powder fiber supplements with kidney disease. Constipation is a possible problem if you take fiber supplements while dehydrated. If you drink a lot of water while doing this, acacia fiber can help sweep out most of the kidney toxins.
Good amounts of fiber should always be included in your kidney diet and start with small amounts. Your body may take some time to get used to the fiber intake. In addition, acacia fiber helps with cholesterol levels, IBS, and diabetes.
