My husband got lymphedema after being diagnosed with lymphoma. He has been seeing a massage PT clinic for some new ideas to treat, wearing compression hose and trying oh so hard to keep things under control. Please be careful if you have this and .and keep an eye on your skin. He developed sepsis in his leg, right before the lockdowns in 2/2020. Three weeks in the hospital, very very sick. Don't neglect your legs and feet!

Doctors these days do not give you an exercise program nor do they tell you to lose weight or quit smoking. I asked a doctor at the beginning of the year why. He said because they don't want to hurt anyone's feeling. I think they just want to push meds and may get a kick back from the pharmaceutical companies for writing prescriptions.

I was heavier than I thought during a doc visit. I was floored at the weight. Dr laughs and asks me what I'm going to do. People are thin skinned. Dr doesn't need the stress of someone going ballistic. If people don't see the flab , too bad. Many people will never exercise either

I had an injury to my groin area when I was 16, just from sitting up from a lying postion on a doctor's table, I remember feeling the pop...it caused a major DVT and I had to be put on blood thinners for months. I was even hospilized for almost 3 weeks. My leg is now permanently swollen and discolored. It makes me feel a little self-conscious and bummed cause I have one nice, beautiful leg and one swollen and discolored leg. I need a vein valve repair....praying someday it can happen. 😢 I stay active and have lost almost 100 pounds in the last few years just to help ease symptoms. It does help. I can't wear the compressions socks, they actually hurt my leg where the sock ends at the top of the leg and makes it feel like it's stopping blood from flowing freely.

You know what I do? In the evenings I have to lay on my back. Because I have to do that I move my legs around in the air, especially, stretching calf muscles etc. if there's some jazzy music on I put both my legs up in the air and I shake my ankles just as vigorously as I can and for as long as I can. Strange as it may seem, all these "mermaid" like movements, especially the ankle shaking, really help.

Yes! I have varicose veins, and even though I wear compression stockings and have a job where I walk about 30-80% of my day, my ankles/legs are usually somewhat swollen by about halfway through the day. Also, the shin of the leg with the worse varicose veins has an incredibly itchy rash that doesn't go away even with steroid ointments. I don't want to keep using steroids that don't really work for long, so I use a lanolin-based moisurizer instead. That definitely helps, but the skin has gotten thicker and more leathery and started developing tiny sores. I do NOT want this to get any worse. I'm thinking about having the varicose veins themselves treated, but the foam roller looks interesting, too. Also, I have tingling in my foot on that same leg sometimes, and sciatia under that buttock. Usually after I've been sitting. I have mild tailbone pain that used to be worse until I bought a special foam chair pad, which helped, but I have to wonder if the foam pad contributed to sciatic nerve damage. So, since sciatica is suppose to be a back issue, I am wondering how well lying down with my legs up might help my back/sciatic nerve, too.

Mine was related to trauma after a rooster aggressively introduced himself to the back of my leg with his talons and claws. It took almost 3 years to heal completely and get blood flow back to the area. My muscles seized up and I had to work through the emotional trauma of that event. Once I cleared it, I was put into a survival situation while kayaking, which led me to using those muscles to save myself. Instantly, the flow was back and improves every day. I didn't go see a doctor because it wasn't necessary. I knew what was happening without any physical symptoms.

I'm 67 and starting to get 'cankles'. (UK nurses word for swollen ankles). I use open-toe compression stockings every other night. For quick fluid reduction, I lay on my back with my butt against the wall, legs vertical, and do the ankle-pumping for a minute on, 5 minutes off, for a half hour. My current medication is 'furosemide' 40mg daily. Seems to work! 🙂

Thank you so very much.. Your guidance is spot on - it is very impt to catch & work with early on.. Later on it may be contributing to other serious diseases...u may reach a point of dragging the legs ,then falls ...muscles tighten in legs & back..& it affects lungs & breathing..get tons of blood work..this could be simple if early or later lead to blockages..gastro..& other things So v important to see primary care..a vein specialist Avoid surgery etc.. these exercises are important ...ty

I had edema in my legs and feet from some medication (carafate) I was taking for a GI bleed. I had to wear compression socks to control the swelling. It took about 2 weeks to return to normal.

Another awesome vid for me anyways, I love when you guys touch on the Lymphatic System and all I can find on the internet is little about that system and the bit I do find they don't agree with where the lymph is returned to the system, some say back in the blood system and others says through the kidneys I agree with the Kidney idea because the kidneys are a true filter system. I get a lot of help from you guys for sure Thx again.

Thank you, I'll speak with my doctor (arteriosclerosis I already know nope; varicose veins a bit but at my age that's normal; lymphedema sounds like it) but for now I've traded my sitting footrest for a higher one. I already wiggle my legs a lot when seated (always have done that if I'm by myself) and the bathroom is on the other end of the house...

Just wanted to say that his comments at the end of the video about taking care of your dry skin is extremely important! I have severe lymphedema and now I have severe infections in both legs. It is hell to try to treat an endure both because it hurts so much I can't do the exercise I so badly need to do! And this is very important..... once your legs start looking better, don't stop! You have to keep going for perhaps months trust me I know what I'm talking about

Thank you thank you thank you for the video. As a truck driver I deal with swelling in my legs daily. My doctor put me on a water pill but then that gives me a magnesium deficiency issue. So I started wearing socks 6 months ago and my legs feel better but it's nice seeing the video on how to roll my legs to increase the circulation. And it's nice to know walking will help

Mike...please don't speak so loudly into the mic it is like a sudden trumpet blairing...maybe put the mic down at your neck...so that you can match thetone of your partner better and the voice is not so distracting.

It's the mic volume. It needs to be modified as Mike has a voice that carries and is higher in tone, which makes it sound sharp.

Lol! I thought, what the heck are they talking about... why are they being so knit-picky? Then I heard it! 😂 I wonder if I would've noticed the level of his voice if I hadn't read this post first, but it was too late. You can't unring a bell or, in this case, a trumpet. It was kind of funny, the one guy's voice was calm and soothing, and then her come the other guy yelling. Thanks for the chuckle. 😊

@dianebash9402 it's a omron electro massage therapy, look up examples on KZbin, but I put the electro pads on my calf and it goes for 15min per cycle, by the end of 2nd cycle I can already see n feel results but about another half hr or so swelling is gone for most part ,I also sleep with my feet higher than my heart , Goodluck ✌️

Mike's voice sets my teeth on edge, because his voice comes across much louder and more shrill than Brad's. You need a sound leveler when you're editing these videos to make both voices the same volume.

I was in an accident with a big truck. Vertebrae crushed the nerves to one leg, so now the valves that control the blood flow close very very slowly. So I get pitting edema in that leg. It got wayyy better when I lost weight but the last 3 months it has come back😢

Well I can't use the foam rollers because I can't lift up like that but I've noticed that if I take one foot and rub it up and down behind the other leg it feels really good and I do that a little bit before I get out of bed. I bet this is why. My foot is my foam roller. No clue how long I would have to do it though. It's moving both legs so it has to be a good thing! 💕🎉🎉🎉

Thank you Bob and Brad for this information,I do have a problem with poor circulation, When I walk for a few hours on my legs, they will have intensity too swell up in both legs and after a while they start hurting,so what you are saying is basically keep my legs elevated when sitting or laying down right? Now about the stockings would you recommend them for what I explained to you? Ok! Thank you both. Please tell Bob, I'm sending prayers to him for good health.🙏✝️

I had foot surgery for flat feet. Because my ex refused to pay for me to go to physical therapy, I do not have much flexibility in my ankles. This causes me to have very swollen feet, ankles and lower legs. I would like to see things I can do without having to get on the floor since I have knee and hip problems that keep me from being able to get off the floor.
