Total beginner here - grabbed a pair of RB Cruisers yesterday and went from standing on carpet to moving on hardfloor with no problem. Today, however, I had my first fall and I fell backwards. My knees were bent but looking at this vid I realise maybe I should bend more and keep one foot in front of the other. Im wearing full protection (my old skateboard pads and guards) but still it shakes me when I fall (I’m 6’2 so it’s a big fall when I land 😂)

Hey Tiago, you actually got me into inline skating this year (as well as the anime air gear). Any tips for wheels to use and stuff, I actually started by going along the bay run and noticed that since the terrain is rougher and less smooth like asphalt my feet shook and vibrated a lot and also made me less stable. Also any tips for going down slopes? I ended up accidentally going down a steep hill leading straight into a sharp turn as I wasn't able to react fast enough and ended up injuring myself badly and bedridden for a few days after taking a dive into gravel. P.s. I finally got my first pair of inlines, they were the cheapest decent looking ones I saw tho, the No Fear brand.
@TiagoInlineSkater5 жыл бұрын
THEEYE SEESALL ohhh, sorry for your injury! 😣 1. for bad terain, the tips I gave you in this video will defenitely help you for that! bend your knees ( getting lower) and puting your feet in line; you'll be a lot more stable and have more control over your feet :) but bigger wheels help to lower the vibrations too! like a 3 by 110mm setup with a hardness of 85A, it's great! 2. for going down slopes, What si usually do to control my speed is what I showed in this videos' last Tip! you can actually see me doing the turns to control the speed in a downhill! 😊✌🏼

I recently started blading again with my old Rollerblades on (from 2011, 80mm wheels) and noticed most surfaces in my city (Melbourne, Australia) are either decades old rough bitumen which vibrates on blades, or narrow and bumpy bike paths that were annoying and could trip you up every few seconds. So I looked into getting bigger wheels. Luckily my boots could take modern interchangeable frames (the metal part that holds the wheels) so I was able to buy a frame and wheels for a 3 x 125mm setup. See pictures here: imgur.com/gallery/3S0tcVA The improvement isn't as big as I thought it would be, but it is definitely better (slightly less vibration, go over bumps easier, more stable and faster with less effort). It kinda just feels the way you think blading should feel. I much prefer them overall so far. I got the new parts online from AliExpress but there's no guarantee they fit, so if you have a blade shop locally with affordable parts I'd recommend taking your blades in to see what they can do.
@watyhu995 жыл бұрын
@@hubey yeah, I'm in Sydney myself m8 and I'm having exactly that issue. Sad tho because my frames are built into the boots, but you can easily change the wheels tho, also I dunno if it was a mistake that I removed the break at the back because I thought it was in the way
@hubey5 жыл бұрын
@@watyhu99 m888888888, I Shouldn't complain, Sydney is probably heaps more difficult with all the hectic hills. But perhaps more fun once you get good. Maybe around the old Olympic area might be a nice place to practice. I'm looking up quiet carparks here myself. Shame about your boots. Might be able to scoop something up second hand. Well if you still have the brake you can re-attach it. The brake saves you wearing your wheels down faster, but it slows you learning how to brake and scrub speed without it. As a beginner I like having it on there, especially for hills.

Hi! from my experience, full protection - knees and elbows begiiincluded is an absolute must for the beginners. Falls are inevitable. Wnen yoy are trying any new trick, you are bound to fall. I fell more than 20 times during my first season ( now i am in my second). I still wear my protection although i fell only twice this season, but had i not worn it, I would have certainly got injured.

I really wanted to get back into skating for quite some time know. But everywhere i look, i don't seem to be able to find a shop that sells freestyle skates in my size. I can't even find boots by themselfes. Everywhere they seem to cap at size 47(eu) at most, which is too small for me. I find exclusive skateboard/longboard and even ski shops just fine, basically everything except the thing im looking for. What i'd like to ask is, where did you buy your freestyle skates and where would i find size 48+(eu), in free skates, if that even exists?

There's a Facebook group called "Big foot blade trade"; it's a sales group but I'm quite sure it'll be full of nice people capable to help you with what and where to look for even new 😉 I'm not in that specific group cause my problem is more having tiny feet like Thiago (so good for freeskate but a little more tricky for aggressive boots), but if it's anything like its sibling sites of Blade Trade you'll be on good hands for sure 😃
