Looks pretty good. Some advice I would have for future viewers tackling this job is to leave the vinyl flooring in place, and put the carpet over the flooring. This will help with sound deadening and prevent any spills from getting down to the metal. Also, the opposite, if you want to have sound deadening and keep the vinyl flooring, get a carpet from a junk yard car and put it under your vinyl flooring. You won’t see it, and you’ll get both the benefit of vinyl easy clean and carpet sound deadening. Btw that small plastic piece you picked up at the beginning of the video under the driver seat is for the hood release cover if you weren’t sure where it went. Good video.
@PNW_Car_Mods4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jono. We debated a time or two about leaving the old floor underneath. Worried a little bit about the small seat studs being overwhelmed with material. Also a little bit about the gas pedal. Neither of which especially the throttle would have been a real issue. That's ok though, not too worried about it. I am still trying to figure out where the hell I put that piece for the hood release. I didn't know what it was. Thanks for that as well. If it's in the garbage I should be able to scare it up if that's where I tossed it.

I've put in a couple of carpets in the past on a 85 Trans Am & 2003 Grand Marquis. Easy but a tad time consuming. The end result is remarkable for under $200 average. Dresses the interior up to a new car finish w/a new car smell. If selling or flipping a car, it gives impression or shows the car was taken care of. Nothing like a recon buff on exterior and a cleaned interior w/a new carpet. Always set your new carpet in the sun for a few hours before installing. Installation a lot easier. Well worth the $200 average price and time installing. Great satisfaction in the end.

What'd you guys do about your big air vent in the floor when you put the stick shift in? I pulled mine, but that left the big opening blasting the passenger side with all the air. I'm jonesing to do my carpet now too :) .. Nice.. Thanks for doing these vids .. P.S. Using an old or cheap soldering iron works really well for knocking holes in the carpet (cauterizes the hole). Used that trick in my Dodge Magnum and "67 Comet.

Quick question, when ordering the acc carpet it asks if the car has a heel pad? Do they mean like a dead pedal?
@EverydayExitSign2 жыл бұрын
Wait, I see what they’re talking about. That’s nice to be able to choose whether you want a heel pad, definitely confusing as it asks when choosing the sub model of crown vic rather than with the rest of the carpet options
@PNW_Car_Mods2 жыл бұрын
We bought this one off of ebay I think it was so there were no options perse. It has help up great over the last year or two. We have a set of generic weathertech floormats in the front and back so the heel pad wouldn't have really mattered for us.

Oh, no. Not carpet! I actually like my vinyl floor (mine is still mint tho). I'll keep watching to see how it turns out. Edit: Looking good. I noticed one of the front bolts on my passenger seat was snapped off (sucks to be the wife, cuz she'll be the one with her knees in the dash in the collision). I went to the junkyard to get a bolt out of another and snapped the head off that one too during removal (must be a common problem) I thought to myself. I eventually found a bolt in a car where the seat had already been removed and someone left the bolt behind. One of these days I'll drill out the old bolt shank and tap new threads and anti-seize the "new" bolt.
