What do you do on gable ends with no soffit ?

The tracks can be mounted through the sides. However, I’m not sure how the over all look would be when installed that way. There are few screw in 3d printed mount options that could work in conjunction with the track. My personal opinion is that you would want a trim board installed first to mount the tracks and/ or lights to.

How far off the wall do you recommend putting the lights I have a stucco home with moldings that are around the windows they stick out 4 inches
