Perfect, thanks. For anyone having issue running the .sh file for eg because it associated to a program (in my case VB), you don't actually need to run it, just run the game.

It seemed like there was a lot of extra copy/pastes that could just have been done in one extract. Also, in Windows the .sh file doesn't do anything (even if you install the stuff needed to run it). I mean, it'll spit out that it doesn't recognize the operating system, but nothing else.

Followed step by step didn’t work. Idk what’s wrong Update uninstalled game and reinstalled then followed step by step and now I go to play and it loads then crashes before the menu pops up, like it does the background black screen with words then that goes away and then it crashes. What did I miss

Are you running mods or just bepinex? If they conflict with each other or aren’t updated mods can crash the game

I dont get it, i have done everything he has, but mod manager doesnt show up when i load the game? My game works fine, but no mod manager. Anyone else have this issue?

I got it. I didn't go for the latest versions of the mods. I just used the ones listed on download manually. Instead of adding the zip files to the timberborn folder, I opened the zip files and manually dropped the files in the necessary folders. Thanks for the video!

You don't need mods to install maps, those can just be placed directly into the C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\Timberborn\Maps folder, unless your filesystem is set up differently. On Windows 11 it could be inside the OneDrive hierarchy.

Thanks. Is there a mod to copy example settings from floodgate to all those other ones at side by side? It is kinda shitty job to do whole dam settings with lots of gates. Tried that pipette mod but didn´t bother to read what mod say how it is working. It won´t copy anything.... But yeah. Mirror Buildings, Water Extenxion and Ladder should be part of base game from start Btw how you can play 2 different saves? I mean one series with Update 4 and other Update 5? I assume you won´t everytime change from Update5 to Update4 when playing other one? Almost forgot to mention Vertical Powershafts mod. Allright i forgot. Thanks Jc

I don't know that there is a "copy settings" mod, unfortunately. Regarding two different saves - I switch in and out of the Experimental version of the game using Steam's "beta participation" feature and shuffle my plugins folders accordingly, depending on which playthrough I'm doing.

How do you manage your mod sets between the different playthroughs you have going? Do you just manually select the correct mods or is there some other way to have different load profiles or something in steam?

What I end up doing is create two different "Plugins" folders and just rename them each time I want to play a specific playthrough. So if I want to play waterbeavers, I'll rename the plugins folder that has all the stuff for the folktails and iron teeth playthroughs to "plugins.normal" and in turn rename the waterbeavers plugins folder from "plugins.waterbeavers" to just "plugins", and then the game sees the waterbeaver plugins folder since it knows to specifically look for a folder named "plugins". Hope that made sense. As long as only one plugins folder is actually named "plugins" at a time, the game thinks that's the only folder that exists. The other version/mods is still still, it's just hidden in plain sight.

I’ve ran into an issue where when I action the step to run_bepinex it uses GIMP or VLC media player or even notepad, how do I stop this as I can’t get that initial opening box to continue the install process.

Sounds like you've somehow associated that file type to be opened with those programs instead of Windows just executing it like any program executable. Try right clicking on the run_bepinex and see if it has an option to run the code from there.

Do you have a third party zip/unzip utility installed? I have been using one for basically as long as I've had a computer so I didn't even think that the option wouldn't show up by default if you don't have a utility on your computer. If you don't have one, I recommend 7zip

If you're already using Mod Manager, it should allow you update via that. But you can always just download the newest version of the mod, remove the old files from the plugins folder, and then stick the new ones in.

Well, if it's been a while you might want to update Mod Manager too. I recall it having some stability issues a little while back.

No, unfortunately. Whenever I update a mod manually, I just delete and replace it with the newest version. Unless it's a mod that has specific custom stuff attached to it like "Custom Name List", in which case I'll keep a copy of that config file and put it back in where it goes once the update is done. I'd highly suggest making a copy of your whole Plugins folder and stashing it somewhere in case you accidentally break something while updating, so that you can revert to the older version. When there's a major game update like this, it might be a good idea to just do a fresh install of the mods anyway, but you should do what you feel is best/most convenient.

Make sure you're looking at the right file (run_bepinex). Your computer also may be blocking you from running executables without admin permissions, but I can't be sure. If you can't get it to work, just try running the game normally. It might run BepInEx anyway, but again I can't be sure.

What am I doing wrong? The API update has stopped the crashing out, but although the mods are in the plugin folder they are not in the menus once I open a map.

Have you checked to see that the versions of the mods you're getting are compatible with Update 5? You might need to go to mod.io and look at the version history notes for each individual mod.
