How to Install the FP3 Tuner by Vance & Hines on the Road King Special

In this video I show you how to do a Fuel Pak 3 Install Stage 1 Upgrade on the Road King Special. This is part two of the Stage 1 upgrade on the 2019 Road King Special. Part one of the Stage 1 Upgrade is linked below. I will be doing a part three of the Stage 1 upgrade on the Road King Special which will include the installation of the Cobra Pro Chamber Head Pipes for the Milwaukee 8 114 engine.
The Fuel Pak 3 is an excellent and easy to use tuner for your Road King Special or many other Harley Davidsons. Make sure to check Vance and Hines website for the proper tuner for your application. Please note, that by installing the Fuel Pak 3, you will void your Harley Davidson warranty. Since the Road King Special will soon be out of warranty, I had no problem moving forward with the full Stage 1 upgrade.

Hey Rick. Nice job on this video. I have the Fp3 on my 16 cvo rg with a built motor. They tech at Vh wrote me a custom tune at no cost. I downloaded it in the bike and I am extremely happy with it. Runs so good and even the gas mileage is really good. Of course I don't ever play with it. This is a really good option to be able to stay away from the dyna. Stuart. 👍

Hey Rick - good couple of videos here. Years ago I installed a Fuel Pak (early version) on my ‘06 Electra Glide - it was a little more involved than this one - this one looks great. Once my warranty is up on my ‘21, I will probably do some Cobra 909s, V&H naked air cleaner, and FP3. Right now I’m enjoying the relative quiet. Hate to rub it in but I was out riding today - sunny and 60! 👍😎☀️

Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt harley get sued for voiding warranties

They did have to modify warranty language however if you use a none Harley tuner while in the warranty term, the warranty will be voided. Essentially all non Harley tunes are outside EPA requirements so it voids warranty coverage.

Yes. I did not go with screamin eagle because my warranty is about to expire and the screamin eagle won't tune outside EPA requirements. It's also a bit cumbersome to use since you have to connect laptop etc to use the tuner for the map. Thanks for watching brother. Congrats again on the big milestone. 👍👊🇺🇸

Hello Rick, just wondering if you still recommend the Vance & Hines FP3 Tuner for your Harley-Davidsons? I'm not finding many videos of recent installs so I'm suspicious as to whether this phase wore off. I purchased this tuner for my 2015 Road glide special a few months ago but now I'm hesitant to install. Any info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

The FP3 is a great tuner. Vance and Hines came out with the FP4 sometime last year as the latest version of the tuner. However, it had or may still have some issues. The FP3 is a very good option if you have it and you don't have to be concerned with warranty. If I was outside of warranty I would have used another tuner as you generally will get a better map when it's not EPA compliant from a performance perspective. If you have the FP3, and you have no warranty to be concerned with, you should be just fine using it. I used the FP3 on my 2015 SG special and my 2019 Road King Special once they were out of warranty and they ran awesome. 👍👊✌️

So that exact set up is not in the FP3. They do have generic maps that will get the map close for that set up if you'd go with the FP3. From there you can run an auto tune to get it to a better tune. The other option if you go FP3 is to use Vance and Hines support. You give them the set up and the will send you a map that will work well. I'd suggest calling V&H support before you purchase and talk with them directly to see what they suggest. I've talked with them in the past and they were very helpful. I hope that helps.
