Why is there not a better guide on how to size the chain with these OSPW? You said 112 links but how does that account for various chainstay lengths? Shimano says to bypass the case, your own instructions say to start with the small-small method, but my 8000 Di2 doesn't let me go to small-small. I'm sure I'm overthinking this and should just throw on a chain but it seems a glaring omission considering we are spending ~$500 on this bit of kit and maybe improperly sizing the chain. Thanks

Hi Ceramic Speed, will this video instructions work for the new 12sp Shimano R9250 rear derailleur too? Also, I have 52/36T chainrings with 11-30 cassette, how many chain links do you recommend? 112?

Thanks for your excellent video! Very helpful! I have a Quintana Roo PR3 tri-bike. The bike came stock with a 52/36 front chainring and 11-28 cassette. I want to make 2 changes: 1) install a 11-34 cassette; 2) install a Ceramic Speed OSPW. I have a Shimano RD9100 rear derailleur. The RD9100 capacity is 30t. The Ceramic Speed OSPW capacity is 32t. Do you think it would be possible to run the CS OSPW with the 11-34 combination? I don’t want to void any warranties or destroy my derailleur or CS OSPW. Any thoughts?

Hi Jay, do you mean the stock rotation stop screw removed at 0:48? It is not needed for the OSPW installation as it stays with the stock cage that was removed as well.

Hi there, I have a new chain that was size for 53/39 and 11/28. It's 108 links. In the video you mention a new chain as the length required is 112 links. Will adding the additional 4 links with a second power link work? The chain has done roughly 50km.
@CeramicSpeed3 жыл бұрын
We always advise against adding links to any chain. It may work, but we would not suggest to do so.

Grazie mille
@CeramicSpeed3 жыл бұрын
Hi Leonardo, we hope English is OK. For the chain length, we have our measurement guide here; www.ceramicspeed.com/media/5168/ospw-chain-length-and-spring-tension_20-09.pdf You will likely be around 110-112 links, but it is best to measure with your specific setup. You may write us directly if you have further questions cycling@ceramicspeed.com

Looks neat, but what is the purpose?
@CeramicSpeed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, our Oversize Pulley Wheel System (or OSPW), reduces friction in the drivetrain, allowing more of your pedaling energy to get to the rear wheel. You can read more about the 'how' it does this here; www.ceramicspeed.com/en/cycling/inside/test-data-reports/ospw-system-report-and-general-information/

Will the wax on the UFO chain wear out?
@CeramicSpeed4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the optimized life of the UFO Coating is 600km before the wax has worn down. Then you can apply a coating of UFO Drip or your choice of lubricant.

You can find more info about the chain length and spring tension here: www.ceramicspeed.com/media/3731/ceramicspeed-ospw-chain-length-and-tension_final.pdf
Hi Kevin, the rotation stop screw placement is different on the R8000GS derailleur, requiring a different cage and not cross compatible to the R9100 derailleurs, or the R8000 SS derailleur.

Hallo, How Many links for 52/36 and 11/28?
@CeramicSpeed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bokai, we recommend having a qualified mechanic take a look. It will likely be around 110 or 112 links for a 9100 or 8000 series derailleur, but chain stay length and derailleur hanger position can both play a part of this. We have a chain length guide on our website, under Support > OSPW > Installation.

Are the oversized pulleywheels louder than stock Shimano? Do they compromise shifting or does it work as well as original setup?
@CeramicSpeed5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lasse. The oversized pulley wheels are not louder than the stock Shimano, and the shifting is not compromised as long as the system is mounted correctly. :)
