People who hold malevolence or bitterness towards the world usually despise people who not only seem to have good things coming to them, but also seem like genuinely good people. I used to be like that and I've climbed out of that dark place with the help of genuinely good people who I still treasure as great friends. I think the story of Cain and Abel really shows what cultivating such malevolence leads to. If you want more modern example then you can look at mass shootings.

"But first, coffee." Hmm, that's an excellent point. *sips coffee* My main goals this year are to run my first marathon and to get rid of this belly chub that I've had lingering for most of my life. Nothing extreme and totally doable. These calisthenics I've been learning will certainly help both goals. You're a good guy Hampton. Keep on keeping on.

Here is some tips on losing that belly indefinitely. Eradicate breakfast out your life forever. Only eat when you're hungry or eat only 2 meals a day of whatever you want. Lunch and Dinner is the only meals you need. Slowly the belly would disappear.

@@grante.7525 For sure, I've done it before by keeping track of all of my calorie inputs and all calories burned. Maintained a weekly deficit and lost 40lb over 6 months. 4:59 my mantra has always been process over progress. You have too enjoy the process of doing something too see any progress. If you didn't enjoy the process you would only do it short term until it becomes irritating and hence see no progress. Obsessing over the progress will only make you upset and insecure about how slow progress may be towards the goal.

I'm so glad I found you.😁 I am so excited to begin this new year "with you". Your kindness and sincerity make it so easy for me to want to begin to train again. Although I am a martial artist "in progress", I am definitely at the "therapy" end of your training scale. You are the 1st fitness person on KZbin that I have found that actually shows the beginning stages of a progression toward a more difficult skill, and you do it in such an encouraging, supportive way that it really inspired me to want to train. I do have a time frame (I have 15 months until I could possibly be eligible for my Black Belt), but I think that's a span of time where I can progress safely and enjoy the process. I cannot thank you enough for who you are and what you offer. You are literally helping me change my life.💪🏼🌟🤩😍🥳👏🏼

I really like your mindset! Your channel is great and full of empowering content; for me the key to happiness has always been accepting oneself first and foremost and making the best of your possibilities (“weaknesses” included!) Difference makes us unique, beautiful beings! How can’t we see that when it’s so clear? Well, because society (or, to be fair, the economic interests beneath it) wants us puzzled, confused, incomplete. If there is a desperate lack of something in our lives, it will be easier for them to convince us of buying stupid stuff we don’t need with which to patch it. But that’s never gonna work, it eventually leads to dissatisfaction and depression. People should definitely engage in long term projects, the most important being self love and self care. We are going to spend our lives with ourselves, so why not being a “good guest”? Think healthy, be healthy. Thank you for your great advices (not only regarding exercise) and keep up the great job!

Thanks for motivation! I came to similar (or exact) conclusion about three weeks ago. During last 3 or 4 years there have been several times (not only around New Year) when I've started these "x pushups in y days", "gain abs in xx days", "planking training program for 30 days", etc. And usually I started some 3 or 4 programs at the same time, because, well, I'm as strong as a wet noodle and wanted to get in some kind of shape. And without exception, I usually "survived" for around 3-4 weeks (longest being 6 weeks). Then it either became too hard for me (I had slower progress than program was built for) and I lost motivation or I got lazy and skipped day which turned into skipped months.. Butt... in December (three weeks ago) I started to lift dumbbells. Just relatively miserable amounts of weight with even lower reps. Yet- now I don't have any exact aim. Just to be more healthy and a bit stronger. Sometimes I lift less than previous day, but it doesn't bother me as I'm not "falling behind". And to make it more interesting and to have additional motivation, I log everything in excel sheet to see my progress. And there is some progress. :D Need couple more weeks of just dumbbells routine, before I add some squats, abs, pushups. Thanks for reading and sorry for Engrish. Happy New Year!

Feels a bit like surviving from day to day but as you said, longterm development is important. My goal is to reduce chronic pain through endurance exercises, healthy diet and yoga/exercises you do :) thank you for your videos, your way of presenting exercises and answers to problems is the best! greetings from germany

I'm following up last years goal ( lost 60#) with a 30 day fast. I have a good 40 lb to lose and my eating got a little crazy. Its time to give my digestive system a rest. You are so relaxing to listen to. Great advice

I don't really have resolutions except continuing to go to therapy, and to keep using your fitness routine (that I adapted to my laziness hahaha). Thanks to your routine I've been exercising consistently for about a month and a half now, which is way more than I usually do when I try to go back to working out. Thank you Hampton, and have a wonderful year yourself! :D

Bell is now on. Such great information honestly. I've had the same goal of doing 440kg in powerlifting for 2 years now and I'm still working hard on it no matter how long it takes.

Last year despite Covid, I managed to lose around 20 kgs due to changing my diet. I used to eat a lot of junk food and sugary drinks, and have gone from consuming around 3000+ calories a day (mostly empty calories) to about 1500 give or take? Just trying to maintain my healthier diet and enjoying my exercise as much as I can considering I can’t go to the gym. I started watching your videos a few months back because I wanted to learn how to build up to doing full pull-ups, and now I can do five with some struggle- Thank you for helping me and a lot of other people here develop healthy lifestyles and learn to do body weight exercises. Hope you have a great 2021!

Good advise, you are trying for people to understand it's their job to introspect to find the information required to improve their lifestyle, making us happier. But you know this because you have made it. It's not easy for someone who hasn't yet wanted to really be happy through their effort because of all the problems that surround us. Hopefully that made some sense as well.

For anyone trying to lose weight: It took me 2 years to lose 40 pounds. Don't be discouraged by minimal results in a short period of time. Remember: every raindrop raises the sea. Go with a plan that's sustainable and healthy, and don't hurt yourself. It's as they say, "better to do something right the first time," and "slow and steady wins the race."

I wish you a lot of grow this year you definitelly deserve it, since I discovered your channel a month ago I started working out every day, first video i saw was anyone can do pushups and it changed my mind forever, it is better to start slowly but be persistant because one day I will be able to perform all those hard variations. Thanks for inspiration. Have a Beautiful Year as well!
