I really wanted to thank you on the words you put up while you were signing. I have dyslexia and they were so easy for me to read. Big and with that colored background so they didn't get muddled from the image behind them and slow. I didn't even have to stop the video to read them.

Jessica thank you so much for these videos! A while ago I found out that I have a genetic disorder that could result in me losing my hearing in the future and it really scared me, but since finding your channel those worries have significantly decreased. I used to think that if I went deaf I'd be lonely and not be very happy but you have shown me that it's not as bad as I initially pictured it! You've also shown me that no matter what medical conditions I may have someone will love me especially as I'm also gay I always worried my dating pool would be too small and I'd not get the same chance at love as everyone else... I have wanted to learn sign language for a very long time but I've not had the opportunity/motivation to start so far. This has encouraged me to pick up sign language and stick to it :) xx

J:What time do you want to call list? (Is list a nickname for a person? I could be way off! What's the sign you use after 'want'? C: What? J:What time are you calling list? C:I'll call maybe around 4 o'clock J:4 o' clock okay :) I also don't know what the sign right at the end was! Ahh! I could be miles off but was fun to try. :)

I know a bit of DSL (Dutch Sign Language) as I had some deaf friends in school so me and some other friends decided to go to a workshop once a week. I still love Sign language but as I don't talk to them anymore I lost most of it except the alphabet. I do love watching these videos! I simply learn a lot of differences and I still think it's such a beautiful and rich language .

Happy to see the SignBSL website briefly there - I built the iOS app for that site. Reply here for feature suggestions, as Apple don’t see the app offering anything over the website itself, so updates are stalled. ☹️

I think a thing where it offers you a random sign and you need to guess what it is (as a language learning game) would be great. If you make it also a language learning app, I'm sure that would get through the requirements, as well as be really useful for those of us that are trying to build our vocabulary. (:

Only thing I caught was “favorite,” but I liked this video! The ASL I am learning is quite different from BSL, but it makes me happy to see you signing away in your videos more again. A happy awareness week to you! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I first started watching your videos with the ones last year.

Only know some very basic signs in German sign language so can't really understand what you are talking about in the end but immersing yourself in the language you are trying to learn is always a good idea! I do this with every language I'm starting and it helped me a lot with pronunciation and learning vocabulary without it feeling like you are learning anything.

This is actually British sign language. So it's not going to look the same as German sign language. I learned ASL or American sign language which is entirely different so it was very strange for me to try and understand.

How/where did you learn the German Sign Language? (I think it's called Deutsche Gebärdensprache?) If you could please say something more. I live in Germany and would love to learn some signing but for obvious reasons, BSL and ASL wouldn't make much sense.

My friend runs the Accessibility Services at a big convention that travels to the UK, and she's been learning ASL/BSL, and helped her volunteers come up with new signs to describe characters in the show the convention is for. It was interesting watching them figure out a way to represent characters with just a hand signal, and amazing how easy it was to tell who each one was talking about!

I love your channel, Jessica, and think it's brilliant that you use this platform to spread awareness about deafness and other lesser known disabilities. I would love to learn sign language but don't have a lot of time at the moment as I am still in school, I wish it was taught in school though. I do trampolining and have a competition coming up soon, as I am in the disability squad in the regional competitions I don't have anyone to compete with but for nationals one of the people in my category is deaf so I really want to try and learn some basic sign language. This is why I'm so glad that you made this video and others using sign so that I can get used to seeing signs. I love all your videos, they make me feel so much more relaxed, so thank you x

I start my level one soon! I can't wait. We've spoken before about how I'm considering becoming a BSL interpreter and this year is going to be the year i make the decision to either study BSL Interpretation at uni before media stuff or do it the other way around. I have lots of ideas about D/deaf inclusion, particularly for youth and at the moment i'm leaning towards BSL Interp first, then media stuff. Thank you so much for videos like this & the amazingly useful links in the comments. And thankyou for your signed songs and tutorials which have helped me learn loads too!

I'd love to see more of this! Please, update videos daily or every second day from that project! Also, I'd like to learn some of sign language but I'd have to go for the German one since I live in Germany. I've actually been to a primary school for disabled and healthy children (the classes are mixed) and there was a whole wall full with such cards with signs. I was standing there and analyzing them while I had to wait for someone. But I'd need someone that I could practice it with :( I was even considering sign language classes in the future, there are some in a city about 40 km from me. Well, we'll see. And in the meantime, I'll do with your videos with Claudia. You're such a lovely couple ❤

Jessica ! I’m attempting to slowly teach my 16 month old sign language ! I’m of course needing to relearn and totally learn signing all over again but well learn together. I’m wanting to be able to easily use BSL AND SSE I’ve been fascinated from a very young age. A friend has a deaf father and I thought it was just the coolest thing ever. We would sometimes gossip in class ( or maybe get a tiny help on a test lol) Either way, it’s so extraordinary to sign. Hope we make you proud !
