#psfgarage #toyotatacoma #tacomatrd
In this episode, we show you How To: Lift Your 3rd Gen Tacoma in 15 Minutes! We Install a 3.5" Lift and 33's on a 2020 TRD Sport! I’ll show you some tips and tricks if you’re installing this ‪@RoughCountryTV‬lift kit and we check out these 33/12.50R18 ‪@AtturoTires‬Trail Blade M/T Tires. I also give you a quick status update on the Durango build which I’ve pulled the drive train out of and what’s next with the Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ.
Below is the link for the 3.5" Rough Country kit for 2005-2023 4wd Tacoma. One with full leaf springs and another link for the one with blocks instead of leaf springs. I used the full leaf springs, but depending on your budget, there are 2 options with similar lift results.
With blocks - amzn.to/455FV0f
With leaf springs - amzn.to/3QgHxA9

@PSFGarage yes got it done had to shave down the washer on the uca bolt flat so I could slid it through. Made it easy that way. Really like the RC kit. For the money it's a killer deal. People talk crap about RC lifts but I'm happy with mine.

Super helpful! I have an ‘18 SR5 DCLB that I am going to be lifting in the near future. I am struggling between the 3.5in and the 6in from RC. I am leaning towards the 6in due to my particular likes for aesthetics. Any advice? Have you done the 6in RC lift before?
@PSFGarage
@PSFGarage 5 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful! I like to keep things low and create clearance for larger tires with trimming. The 6” kit is cool though as long as you’re comfortable cutting the lower crossmember from your front suspension. It’s a great kit and works well. If you’re just aiming to run 33’s, go with the 3.5” lift and do some trimming of the front body mount. If you’re going 35’s, then use the 6” kit but know there’s other things that come with that too. Do your research!

Thanks man, I appreciate it! They were actually 245/75R17, which is about 32”. If you picked up a set of spacers for now and push them out a bit, it would look good until you can get the tires you want. It’ll look good man, it’s not a huge difference in size.

I know I am probably going to catch some heat for this. However, I am looking to do the same 3.5 lift and I want to clear 275/60R20's with 20x9 -12 wheels. I know you said yours fits 33's with no rubbing without the mudflaps, do you think a skinnier tire like to 275/60r20 would fit with no rubbing as well? I live in DC so its more of a city drive around truck for me, so dont hate to much!
@TJ-ym4nx

@PSFGarage
@PSFGarage 8 ай бұрын
Hey, to each his own! No hate from me on that, whatever you’re into is cool with me. Hard to say on that size. Seems like it would probably fit since the tires are a bit narrower than the 12.5 wide ones I was running. I give it a good chance of working! Worst case, you need to do a little light trimming or add a spacer or something but not much. Do it!!

How does the rear ride in regards of the leaf springs through out different situations? High speed, mid speed, low speed. Firm, soft, plush? Stiff?
@PSFGarage
@PSFGarage 11 ай бұрын
Great question! I'd say it rides event better than stock on the road and seems to absorb bumps better at mid to high. speeds off road. By no means is this thing going to get moving real fast through some whoops or bumps off road but it does really well for the way its setup. In slower off road situations I notice it the most. Great articulation to keep the tires planted where they need to be. Thanks for the question and for watching!

I did the RC leveling kit on my 2018 Taco and still sitting on stock 16” tires and wheels. Looking at adding the KMC KM719 wheels or something like it in an 17” or 18” rim wrapped in LT285 tires. Currently have a vibration when slowing down from about 80mph, that I have yet to see where(feeling it in the brake pedal), have you had any problems?
@DRUMZ4LIFE82
@DRUMZ4LIFE82 9 ай бұрын
That would be your drivers side front diff bearing. You’ll need to swap the old needle bearing out with the EGCS clamshell bushing.
@PSFGarage
@PSFGarage 9 ай бұрын
Sounds like an awesome truck! Great choice with those KMC’s too. Hmm, I haven’t had that issue with this one personally but could potentially be in the brakes? 2018 is pretty new but I guess it depends on how much you’re driving it, brakes could be ready for some changing, maybe even just pads? Hard to say.
@kylelong4987
@kylelong4987 9 ай бұрын
Well I found out once I replaced the stock 16” rims and 245’s with 11/4” hubcentric spacers that the spacers caused the vibration, no spacers now and new tires and rims, poof- gone.

I bought the full 3.5 kit with UCA and leaf packs for my 2017 TRD off-road. I didn't need to cut anything. That $800 kit should've come with the diffental Spacers though. My kit came at different times. I didn't receive it all at once. It took like a week to get everything. With the $800 kit, you should get the spacers. I would contact RC if you don't.
