Hey Clumsy appreciate your videos. Another simple fix to this issue is; after being assigned your approach, do a direct to your arrival airport, then enter your assigned approach. You can also do the direct to after you pass the last waypoint prior to your destination airport. Then you can just enter approach when assigned.

guess im little bit late here :-) just started using msfs few weeks back and ran into this issue few days ago. I have quickly realized that its a bug, but i was not aware of it before. Your workaround is much appreciated! Thank you! Now i don't know if that was already mentioned here but maybe i have a little improvement to this method. Maybe it makes sense to switch to HDG mode, before actually doing all the voodoo in order to prevent the AP starting a turn. And when the approach is loaded properly, switch back to NAV mode.

Clumsy, I have noticed at least in my country, for the smaller airports, the nav database in MSFS does not include the published approaches. These are airports with published RNAV approaches. However I am able to create the RNAV approach manually by adding each GPS way point one by one.

I've had really good luck switching it to heading mode before I load the approach. Then once it loads you swap back to nav. Also when they say direct to zulu just type that in fly directly to it and let the ils nav you in. Thoes are the 2 work arounds I found

You can check if your arrival's last waypoint and approach's transition is the same, then the planning works without needing to do anything else.

So many questions 1: Does the Cessna Longitude have the automatic ILS tuning with the Working Title mod? I tried your first suggestion and it didn't work. What did work was the suggestion someone made in the comment section here about going direct to the airport and then loading the approach. Even then I had to still load ils frequency and switch nav source. 2: I see you hit load but do you ever hit "activate approach"? Ok that's only 2 questions sorry 😌

Hmm haven't kept up with the WT g3000/g5000 mod but I heard there have been issues with ILS auto tuning for custom airports. I would advise to double check every time, just in case. About loading the approach, I do that when I get told by atc to expect a certain approach, but when I'm not ready to go to the start of that approach yet (e.g. Still a couple of waypoints to go before the start of the approach). In contrast, if I've been cleared for the approach and can go direct to the initial approach fix, I can load and activate it.

Yes it does. The Longitude is the plane I usually fly in the sim. It will auto tune when you select that approach. You do not have to activate the approach. However, if you want to cancel the remaining flight plan and just go straight to the approach, then you activate the approach. Once you have captured the localizer and atc has cleared the approach, you can hit the approach button on the autopilot and the longitude should follow the glideslope. Hope that helps.

for non-waypoint approaches, the best you can do is delete all intermediate waypoints in your flight plan. it won't take you all the way back to the starting airport and will proceed directly to the first fix on the approach. not the most elegant approach, but it works...

Good tip, my instinct was delete the previous waypoint but that doesn't work, then I try deleting the entire flight plan but often that doesn't work either because things are somehow still kept in memory.

Hey man! Yeah, soon I think this will all be addressed. Quick question for you. On your reccomendation I tried "Little NavMap" I spent some time with it today. I see why people like it. It's probably the most detailed flight planner I have seen. Tho, in some cases can be more work than it's worth. However, assuming a planning workflow with Little Nav Map.. after I make the flight plan, I then export for MSFS, and indeed it loads fine and even shows all of the points. Great. BUT.. when I load the plan in P2A, or in Navi Charts.. it has a ton of errors! This makes no sense to me. Everything (except MSFS) is on the current Airac. So, why would this not work? This is what is annoying. So, how are you using this.. are you having to manually re-create your flights in P2A and then just pulling the charts for SID / STAR / ARR manually in Charts? Again, this is a ton of work vs. just planning the flight in Charts or P2ATC to start with. So, I am a bit lost here. Thanks Clums! EDIT - BTW, will Pilot2ATC randomly assign STARS / APPR to you mid flight like the stock ATC did? I have not tried that. I have all that set before the flight, so it just follows that, and that of course is all pre programmed ahead of time in the FMS.. so, this is really a non issue for most flights. So, are you saying that if I dont choose a STAR / APPR that Pilot2ATC will in fact give me one at random during the flight (more like real life). In other words, I would look at the current weather before take off and I can "predict" what it "might be" but, then let the program dictate that at the time?

I have not found a perfect way yet to import plans from LNM to pilot2atc and navigraph. I have to adjust the sid/star/app manually after loading them and double check no repeating waypoints. And for pilot2atc, there is an option to eithet let atc pick the sid / star / app for you (possibly overwriting what you put in) or leaving it as is. My vid on pilot2atc installation shows these options and there should be a timestamp for that section.

@@TheClumsyGeekGaming Hey man! yeah, I agree. I just did a bunch of experiemnts and I may have found something to help you. Try this.. Make your flight plan (either LNM or Charts) and then export as *.fms (xplane). Then, import that to Pilot2ATC. Notice.. all the sids, stars, and appr. comes over! THEN, just export from P2A as the *.pln for MSFS. Yes, I see the check box in Pilot2ATC (I also read the manual too ;-) I guess I thought that was for the auto plan function. Because I noticed with this box checked it will include the sid/stars/app with the autoplan. If not checked, it wont. I have it checked to assign, and not once in 30 flights has it ever changed the planned route. lol. However, the STOCK ATC with MSFS, would do this, as you had the option to leave approch etc to "Automatic". Then, they would assign over the radio and you would need to imput to the FMS in the plan, during flight, thus the error you talked about would happen. But for now, because everything is pre planned with ATC (Pilot2ATC) this would never happen. Unless I am missing something? I wish it would, it would make it more real! LMK

I know that if you try and file a plan (click file button) with a SID / STAR / RUNWAY etc and the weather dictates a different option, then it will change the route to a different one (unless you have the box checked "force runway". But, of course this is not the same thing as what we want. Have you tried to fly an IFR flight, to an airport without any sid / star / approach, just direct? Wonder what happens then. Maybe they just vector you in? Or maybe then they will assign you everything in route like in real life?

Hi Clumsy, I have downloaded the Japan update and the G3000 is totally black and will not turn on on the TBM930. I am using the styled g3000 mod which worked fine before I installed the update. I did remove the mod but still the G3000 system remains black. do you recognize this problem and do you know how to fix it ?

I have not yet tried the new patch, but I recommend clearing out your entire community folder (just drag it somewhere else) and try again. Oftentimes when a new patch arrives most of the mods need to be retuned.

My pleasure! Try this: current alt - target alt = alt to lose. Alt to lose / 1000 * 3 = your top of descent (distance away from destination). Target around a 3 degree pitch down attitude.

My G3000 in TBM stopped automatically switching to NAV1 and when I select the approach it does not tune the ILS freq. Are you using Navigraph data or default. I'm trying to investigate why mine is not switching. Also I want to ask are you planning your flight using the World Map menu or in the aircraft? Sure thing. Hmm, the auto switch to nav 1 may depend on the airport and approach. I would just tune the ils manually and switch to nav1 on my own, to be safe. More details in the autopilot tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6vJqp1roZ1_lbc Flight planning is still a bit buggy in the sim, but I try to do it in the main menu for ease of use. Then I load the approach as necessary mid-flight.

Hey Jason. Trim wheels work fine for me. The horizontal trim wheel I use as rudder trim. You should be able to directly assign a function to each direction of the wheel (e.g. Left trim wheel assign to rudder trim left).

On the bug for enroute changes, can you switch to heading mode before activating the approach to keep your course/heading. Then fix the issue by inserting the approach fix. Then switch to the FMS mode?

When my wheel leave the ground and I get to about a 1000 feet or less above the ground the plane turns right immediately. It is recoverable but and then when I gain control of the plane everything is fine for the rest of the flight. Is anyone else having this problem. Don't know how to fix it. Before this last update the TBM didn't do this.

Sure thing! Hmm that sounds weird. Does it always happen? Can you try turning off all AI and multiplayer planes? It happened to me once but on landing, the plane suddenly yawed all the way to the left. My suspicion is it was one of those "phantom issues" caused by other planes in the area.

You need a bit of right rudder trim on take off - if you like at the displays you can see a magenta notch where you set your trims before take off. Could that be your problem?

Since patch 2 loading in an approach should work better, except for the bugs I show here. That's at least for the tbm 930. Not sure if the g1000 planes are very different.

Yes full procedure with the transitions. I would expect there an option for vectors, though, for vectors to final instances. I remember seeing that in the g1000 in x-plane and other real-life vids.

Yes. Normally you would file something in the beginning, but depending on the situation atc can give you a different arrival/approach, so it's important we're able to change it mid-flight.

@@RabbitFCB that seemed to be improved in patch but also I think that it is why Clumsy is using Pilot2ATC instead of default (you can use also VATSIM or IVAO):)

Yes, exactly. For me the default atc is still not dependable, although it improved a bit with patch 2. Pilot2atc is much more reliable, or if you're good with multiplayer and fly in populated areas then vatsim/ivao/pilotedge can work for you.

All your mods are ruined by the 1.9.3 "upgrade". All displays in TBM are black. It all needs rebuilding. It's a mess! I've followed your mods progress and they all looked great. Now they are ruined?
